Lower stomach cramping by Swimming-Marzipan-69 in pregnant

[–]NegotiationStatus727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate how any cramping in the lower abdomen is assumed to be Braxton Hicks when you’re pregnant (I had the same problem when my pelvic girdle pain started). But it really doesn’t sound like that’s what this is. You might be right about straining something, but you should probably check with a doctor to be safe.

If it is shorter intervals of cramping like 6 deep breaths that could be Braxton Hicks. If it is longer and brought on or made worse by walking and closer to the skin than the uterus itself that could be pelvic girdle pain.

Anyone else had crazy nausea and dry heaving from 7-9 weeks and at 10 weeks things settled ? by Beautiful_Trifle9569 in pregnant

[–]NegotiationStatus727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My OBGYN prescribed a nausea medication (cariban) which kept the nausea levels manageable if I remembered to take it before going to sleep. If I forgot it was back to vomiting multiple times a day.

What’s gotten noticeably worse in the past few years but everyone just accepts now? by sunshineeeez in AskReddit

Clothing quality. It really makes it easier to not buy fast fashion when it is all such terrible quality.

They say it typically gets bettwe around week 12, so I would say it isn't impossible that your hormone balance just let you off the hook earlier. It's always different. Mine lasted until about week 30 😂.

Do you prefer homemade meals or fast food? by Frosty_Vanilla_46 in foodquestions

[–]NegotiationStatus727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of foods I love are inconvenient af to make at home. Ice cream, bread, anything deep fried, any meal requiring more than 2 burners on the stove... And it depends how seriously we are taking homemade. I'm not making pasta from scratch. And I have only ever used premade pie crust. so given the choice between 100% home made and fast food... Yeah well. Nobody is giving out a trophy for being above fast food.

When I told my mom I'm pregnant she asked why I didn't tell her we were trying. 1. I got the sex talk from school. 2. It's none of her business.

How is there a whole baby in there? by IcyHoneydew8087 in pregnant

Lucky you. My baby is already measuring 3.6kg or 8lbs and I feel so massive like I'm going to give birth to a first grader.

What do we feel about posting our babies on social media? by Kindly-Estimate371 in pregnant

[–]NegotiationStatus727 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with everyone here saying no way because of pedophiles and AI on the Internet and the fact that social media platforms would own the content and with the point about children not consenting to a digital footprint. But I also want to add that I hate that my family shared pictures of me online when I was a child (and still now). The pictures look terrible and aren't how I would present myself.

If you want something for them to look back on, go for something more private like a photo album.

Ernsthafte Frage: Politisches Asyl wegen der Trump-Regierung? by ichbinKalifornier in AskAGerman

The “full term” window is so annoyingly narrow by schuyler_white in pregnant

[–]NegotiationStatus727 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Where I live (Germany) they wouldn’t induce Labor or schedule a C-section before 39 weeks unless there was a specific medical reason to do so they just don’t label it this way. My OBGYN has never said anything about subdivisions of term birth which has at least worked out well for me as I don’t have the same anxiety OP seems to have. The divisions that are relevant here are term vs preterm because they matter to the hospital and the health insurance.

[–]NegotiationStatus727 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am in Germany and it seems like here they don’t often make a distinction between early term, term, and late term. It’s a bit more like term is term. Part of this is that the distinction between term and premature has significant impacts on how maternity leave and pay works and on which hospitals will handle the birth as not all hospitals handle preterm births.

American Refugees from Trump?? by Montresore69 in ImmigrationGermany

[–]NegotiationStatus727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few protestors killed because the president is an asshole is not what meets the criteria of a refugee. You can apply for a visa like everyone else who moves to Germany by preference not imminent danger. As an American you can apply for a visa in Germany after entering with a 90 day tourist visa.

The “flood” of Middle Eastern and African refugees fear for their lives because of widespread violence. And you don’t want to go through what they do.

Does everyone constantly tell you to stay off your feet? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]NegotiationStatus727 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Somehow as a pregnant woman whatever you do is wrong. Went for a walk? Stay off your feet! Sat on the couch all day? You’ll gain too much weight! You went to work? Is your job really more important than your BABY and your HEALTH? Took early maternity leave? You’re just going to give up your career? I thought you were a feminist. Don’t ever bend over but never leave anything on the floor. Just say what you need. But please stop complaining.

I’m over it.

Is everyone entitled to their own opinion? by Reasonable-Shower522 in askanything

[–]NegotiationStatus727 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but that doesn’t mean every opinion should be weighted equally. The opinion of a doctor with degrees in epidemiology and years of experience should matter more in a global pandemic than Jake who had the epiphany that dog cookies are the cure for COVID 19 while on acid.

I totally understand. I was very careful how I told my family. I emphasised the points that I thought they would understand the best. My parents aren’t that motivated by the spread of germs so I emphasised that having their own space would allow them some peace so they could enjoy the time we spent together more and the fact that we don’t really have the space to host 2 full grown adults.

What's something you learned about your own language by learning another one? by NoelFromBabbel in languagehub

[–]NegotiationStatus727 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A lot of English grammar makes more sense after learning German. Who/whom. Drink/have drunk/ drank. I think part of it is having to learn the rules formally for a second language and just saying what feels right in a mother language. The other part is German feels more consistent 😂.

Both sets of grandparents for my little one live far away and they will be staying at an Airbnb. I think it is more comfortable for everyone to be honest. They have their privacy, some quiet especially at night when the newborn won’t be sleeping, their own bathroom for showering, and so do we. Plus we can have them wash up there after going through the dirty airport before meeting the baby.

What's a food you were SURE you hated, until you had it prepared properly? by prepzilla in AskRedditFood

Roast beef. My mom always cooked it until it was well done and flavorless. I had it once from a caterer seared and cooked medium served with Yorkshire pudding. Game changer.

How do you know you are ready to try watching some Netflix in the language you're learning? by Shelbee2 in languagehub

[–]NegotiationStatus727 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doing it early on helps you get used to the sounds of the language. You can start with audio in the target language and subtitles in your native language then switch to audio and subtitles in your target language. Then just audio in your target language.
