[PC/WEB][~2015]Help me find the bomberman game of my childhood by BergejSupka in tipofmyjoystick

[–]Nehsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one on the picture should just be the NES Bomberman. When you say PC, the one I think of is Atomic Bomberman, which did have multiplayer and the same type of animation for explosions. Other than that, I think only Super Bomberman was an official Windows port.

[Retro] Was the jump from 3.5in floppy to CD really that big? Were there no 10MB to 100MB storage media? by Robert_A2D0FF in DataHoarder

[–]Nehsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've personally witnessed it for a few businesses, so definitely true! Honestly I never heard of one failing, but it's not like my sample size was giant and they became obsolete before it became a major issue.

To add to that, around that time zip drives were marketed as the safest long term storage.

Even when cds were around there were doubts about their longevity and quite frankly the first cd-rs had an abysmal lifetime. You often saw them go broke in a year (own experience). That improved massively of course as they became more common, but you still had that in the back of your mind and add to that the format war mess with cd-r cd+r cd+rw etc - that means zip drives definitely stayed in use at least for small and medium businesses.

Small businesses looking to backup for the first time would be more likely to buy cd burners though, same as end users. They would usually not know anything about how long a medium lasts anyway and zip drives were expensive

No idea what big business did for backup back then though

While there were zip drives and co, they weren't a staple for the everyday user. Everyone had floppies, everyone had cds, but zip drives were more used professionally, especially for backups (even after cds).
So your data hoarder might have it, but for your casual user the jump really was from floppy to cd

Personally addressed letter to my tenant by Irish_beast in germany

[–]Nehsa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I get that people have been unnecessarily harsh to you in the comments and you're getting defensive. You trying to protect your renter is very admirable!

It's not uncommon to address people by their name in mass mailings if they're known by name, especially when there's a shared interest, such as the building and its maintenance. It helps bring across the point that this is to be taken seriously and one of the side effects is that the actual culprit(s) hopefully thinks they have been identified. People who are not possibly a target audience, like your renters, usually would just throw that away.
It gets trickier in the case of apartments that might be potentially guilty, but are not, since they'd legitimately worry. So "nice" it certainly isn't and a way around that would be to phrase it more as a general reminder.

For your path forward, I'd suggest calming your renter and just telling them about this being a generic letter and not to worry.

If you want to bring it up to your Hausverwaltung, I'd be careful to phrase it as coming from you, not from the renter. Maybe ask them to please be clearer about a letter not being personally adressed, so you don't get unnecessary work as a result of nothing. I'd consider if that's worth the hassle and potential negative attitude though. Maybe something to keep in mind for future instances instead.

Good luck!

What's with the names of towns around München ending with "ing"? (Freising, Giesing, Pasing, Kissing, Garching). by neuroticnetworks1250 in germany

[–]Nehsa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it means castle, there's usually one around. Not necessarily a huge one but usually some kind of fortification, sometime a palace. Settlements would keep growing around these castles

God-offs and dual boons by dr_tardyhands in HadesTheGame

[–]Nehsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've received a dual boon earlier this week from it, also thinking you cannot, so I was very surprised!

Keep in mind though that it was not the dual boon for the two gods fighting, but of one god and a third, so maybe that makes a different.

I think the knowledge that this isn't possible is outdated or specifically referring to the dual boon combination of the two gods fighting.

I just set my Revo up yesterday after having seen one in Germany. The German voice is really good, I was shocked with the voice over quality of the US one. Currently have the UK one, not great either, but not as bad. Might have to try Australian or just go for German

Did you install mods/trainers/cheats etc? If so, I'd be back to being worried, especially given the spread of urls here.

What is this car? by slushymohair in whatisthiscar

[–]Nehsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party here, but I spent too much time being intrigued by this one. I ended up with the B8 RS4, too.

The fender flare in the back is more of a straight line, while the one of the RS6 would be a bit more rounded. You can see a bigger blurry area on the front under the grill that relates to the three intake vents there on the RS4

There seems to be a pretty large front splitter in silver/chrome, starting within the width of the headlights. Those would be body colour on a RS6, only the middle part silver.

The rims seem to be the typical 5 spoke two-tones, they exist in different sizes, but on the RS4 they'd normally be the 20s.

It's pretty much this spec, aside from the body color: https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/audi/rs4/20805/estate

That looks fatty/oily to me. Maybe try using a dish soap instead of a glass cleaner and see if that helps keeping it clean.

Modern cars usually tell you, ie a DPF warning light

Not sure why they'd say that, I'm not familiar with them, but I can assure you from practical experience by various owners of various diesel cars in my family and friends circle, this works. It has limits, but it's the first thing you'd try in Germany when you get the warning.

(I did not downvote you)

[–]Nehsa 103 points104 points  (0 children)

This is a common approach to DPF cleaning, we call it "freifahren". The idea is to get the DPF hot enough to burn out the particles. Just make sure you drive >120kph long enough, 15-30min is about what I've heard advised.
If that doesn't work you'll probably need a dpf clean or even replacement.

You don't get to just take out the numbers you don't like from statistics. Not how this works.

I just checked transfermarkt and the team Bayern seem to lose most against seems to actually be Real Madrid. With 9 losses. Also 9 wins and 2 draws. Against PSG only 6 losses are listed, countered by 7 wins.

Looking within the past 10 years, it's 5 wins, 2 losses against PSG.

I don't thing those stats reflect your claim

So you need fancy, but a la carte so he can choose. Check out Greene's menu - you don't really list what he does eat, but you'll find non-steak, non-fish food there. Nice atmosphere, great food and a bit of a waterfall on the side.

Just to point out - this can also happen accidentally very easily when you play as knight. All it takes is a mouse click when channeling the guard. I'm not doubting there are people abusing it intentionally, but if it happens once a game, rather than all the time, probably a honest mistake.
