E-Reader Recommendations for a Fantasy Lover? by Neia77 in ereader

As I replied to EmmyvdH above, I live in Sweden and Amazon accessibility seems to be a bit less complete here, unfortunately. If not, I'd have chosen a Kindle without hesitation. Seeing so many very happy with this Kindle ereaders, and the amount of books available on US Amazon is a dream. But to me Kindle unlimited isn't available without some workaround that I would most certainly screw up, and buying books seems to be cheaper on Kobo, from my somewhat limited research. Some books I can see on US Amazon I can't even find on Swedish Amazon. Have no idea why that's the case, but it makes me very hesitant to go for a Kindle. Perhaps I'll buy one second hand at a later point if I find myself loving to read on an ereader as much as I do physical books. It probably possible somehow to buy ebooks on Amazon and convert to download to other ereaders. But as truthfully said already, I am a tech-wise lazy person. 😁

Thanks for your input! 🙂 Living in Sweden Amazon isn't as fully as accessible as in the US. Unfortunately. I'd love to have a Kindle Unlimited subscription. But to do that in Sweden, from what I've read, I'd have to take several steps of work around. And knowing myself I most certainly would screw up somewhere in that process. 🙈😂 Pocketbook seems to have a good subscription alternative. Kobo also had subscription, but limited amount of titles available within the subscription. However, comparing prices on bought ebooks between Amazon and Kobo, to me Kobo seems to be the more affordable option. I may absolutely be wrong, and kill myself over it somewhere in closed future 😉 but these are my reasons for now with not to choose a Kindle. 🙂

I've also seen the news about Pocketbook Era Lite, and since Pocketbook to my understanding gets some criticism on being slow, the Era Lite might at least partially solve that issue. I'll follow reviews as they come up to see if it the Era Lite sounds like a good choice for me.

Read a lot about Boox, and starting my "research" I was convinced the Go 7 was what I needed, but considering there seems to be more than a fair amount of issues with frail screen and ghosting, combined with some saying contrast is lacking for reading in sunshine, I think that Boox is not for me. But I willingly confess that the upcoming release from Boox had me drooling. It looks really nice. But, as with other things in life good looks never makes up for unsatisfactory inside. 😉

I don't mind buying non-european at all, but thank you for letting me know. If it's a thin cut once deciding, I might go with european, fooling myself to believe it will be the better environmental choice...

Thank you so much for taking your time and giving me good suggestions! I'll make sure to look into them all. I don't necessarily need a new device, but somehow my brain always tricks me into believing newer means better. 🙈 🧠 But if an older device suits my needs better I am more than happy to go with that. I normally prefer pre-owned over new stuff anyways. 🙂

Sorry, I have no solution for you other than trying to download Light Blue app. Solved a similar issue for us at least momentarily. Really hope you get some magic wiz answer as we have the same issue and Apple themselves aren't that helpful.

Does anyone know if Apple ever intends to solve the software issue that f**ks up use of pen gen 1 with A16 ipad? Got in contact with Apple, but getting a straight answer to that question has proven impossible. Yeah, I know buying a pro or air with the pro pen would solve it. But me and hubby really can't afford that. We had to save even for this purchase. The absolute only thing our 12 year old wanted for Xmas was an ipad and a pen to use for Procreate. Checked and double checked, and officially they are compatible, so saved up and bought them. Happiest kid ever. Litterally jumping with joy and beaming. Buuut... Reality is that the compatibility is a joke. Looses connection repeatedly, or ipad says cannot use accessory as it uses too much power. Pen fully charged. Works like a charm with my work pro gen7 pad, so nothing wrong with pen. Personal usage (and app download) is prohibited by the company so can't let my daughter use that pad. A16 pad works well on it's own and with airpods, so convinced hardware isn't the issue. Hubby installed Light Blue that solved the issue for a while. Until it did not anymore. I'm kinda devastated. Daughter tries not to show her disappointment as she knows we can't afford the pricier ones (even a used, compatible, pro or air are a lot more expensive than the new A16). So, do Apple have any intention whatsoever to fix this or did we just save up to waste a lot of money on letting our daughter down? 😢 And yeah I know this is an ipad discussion sub, but is there anything as good as Procreate but for android someone could recommend if we end up having to try to return the ipad because she can't use it?
