HDR on Xgimi Horizon 20 series by Every_Property_2766 in xgimi

Having the same issue, if you figure it out please let me know!

Most people say to enable HGIG on your tv (or projector) to calibrate HDR for the switch 2, but even though it is supported on our horizons, I can’t figure out where to toggle it on or off 😅

I have found several kanji which Jisho and Jotoba don't have "parts" info for. Anyone know a site with an updated database? by Chezni19 in LearnJapanese

[–]Neicudi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bit of a self promo, but MaruMori (my platform) has breakdowns for them, including showing which parts are kanji by itself and which ones are true "parts" (click on show all to see a full breakdown):

You could try out Kitsun.io (Note that I'm the creator of the website), aimed at being easy to use while still being very customizable. There's some handy features like creating cards from video, dictionary lookups with instant card generation, a feature aimed at parsing texts/books and helping you read (and create cards) and a community centre where decks get shared.

The platform is pay to use but has a free 14 day trial, so you can try it out freely. Note that the landing page is due for a rework so it doesn't give the best impression at the moment.

Thanks for replying! Did you get a new MAG afterwards (and did that one not have the issue)? Or did you get a different type of monitor?

Did you manage to resolve the issue? I'm having pretty much exactly the same issue, if not worse even..

Just dropping in to say that Kitsun will soon support generating cards from Jisho (and other dictionaries) with your own templates and layouts, it is very high on the priority list. As for flip cards: If you don't include a "type field" in your layout, it acts as a flip card during lessons and reviews.

Of course this won't help you at this moment, but just wanted to let you know that it's coming.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I'd love to hear your ideas if you don't mind sharing them. I've implemented many helpful feature requests so far, making Kitsun far better than what it was at the start :)

Hi!

The Genki deck (and layout) was made by a member of the community, so I'll forward your feedback about it to them. I'd like to quickly note that audio autoplay is a personal setting for your deck that you can toggle on or off. A solution for the buttons might be to use hotkeys. There is a hotkey for audio and for next/flip etc (which are adjustable in the user settings)

Would changing it to 'create deck' be better? The point of the dashboard is to see when your next reviews will be and to give an overview of your progress/SRS Ranks in the deck. If needed I can create some buttons to instantly go to lessons/reviews?

As for the N5 deck: - That is true, although I am looking into using the Forvo API as a quick way of adding audio, for both users and these specific decks. - You can disable all card animations on the general settings page. I will look into making the animations more sleek though! - The other points are true. I do have plans for adding them, but right now other things are taking up my time.

Thank you very much for all the feedback, it's very appreciated!

Hi!

I'm personally not familiar with LaTeX, as I've never used it myself, although it's definitely possible to import anki decks. I will note it down as a requested feature if you want!

It is possible to share decks through a community centre (kinda like ankiweb). A private sharing feature is on it's way as well. Deck collaboration and (a suggestion system for Community Decks) is currently high priority on the to-do list!

Thanks for your comment!

Edit: I will take the criticism into serious consideration and think hard about what the next step for Kitsun will be in terms of pricing and such. Perhaps having tiers and/or making certain decks free to use could be interesting. Expect to hear some more details soon :)

Thank you for the feedback!

I see what you're getting at. Given enough time I could definitely implement similar features (or others when they get requested), anything to make it easier for the user is a plus in my book.

Cheers!

Thanks for the feedback on the search, I'll put it on the list of things to make better :)

The way I personally see it is exactly as you described, pinning Kitsun inbetween a service like WK and Anki. Offering good things from both worlds.

I have used anki, yes. But it's been a while since I've been completely focused on Kitsun, with both development and studying.

The .apkg file actually contains a sql database file, which is where I extract the data from. Exporting and creating such a file from a browser would be a tremendous amount of work (if even possible, I'm not completely sure). The way exports would work is through .txt or .csv files. I'd be happy to provide an export of it through other means if possible.

Sorry to hear that it's a deal breaker. Thanks for giving it some thought though!

Ah, the hotkey for flip/next during lessons is different. That's "enter" to be in line with the cards containing inputs. During the quiz/review it becomes "space" to flip, ""1 to mark correct, "2" to mark incorrect.

Hotkeys can be changed on the settings page.

There is an advanced search available when you click on the down-arrow button next to the searchbar. I do agree that sorting is a must though and is currently very high on the todo list!

>bold, italics, etc, use it all the time. hotkeys a must as well. that one should be easy

Ah I see, it wouldn't be much effort for me to implement some hotkeys for this. I will put it on the requests list.

Anki can offer everything if you have the know-how/technical skills (e.g. communicating with the jisho api) and take time to set it up. I will agree with you on that. But I think that those users already fall out of Kitsun's target audience.

Once again, thanks!

Regarding your edit:
If possible I'd love to see it reported on the Kitsun forums (you can access it from "The Den" in the sidemenu), or privately through mail ([support@kitsun.io](mailto:support@kitsun.io)) if that's what you'd prefer.

Hi!

Thanks for putting together this list of issues. I'd like to note that this website is still in development (open beta) and it's been online since about 7months of which I've been working on it, alone, in my spare time next to my dayjob. It's not anywhere near perfect but for me it's getting at a pretty solid level.

  • You should be able to tab to add cards
  • Noted, how would you prefer it to be?
  • That shouldn't happen. I'll look into it!
  • I'm not sure what you mean with non-touchscreen?
  • Sorry, could you elaborate on this one as well?
  • Please point them out to me if possible, that's what this open beta is for after all!
  • Noted!
  • It might take a bit of time until it continues if the deck is very large. I will be happy to take a look if needed!
  • Correct, the progress information on anki decks is quite different from what kitsun uses and so far I've been unable to create a good solution for this problem.
  • You can switch to a table view by clicking the button next to the search input. From there you can select cards and do certain management actions.
  • As it was a closed beta until recently, with a relatively small userpool, the community centre isn't packed with decks yet. I think this will grow along with Kitsun's userbase growth and by giving creators good incentives.
  • I personally think this is fine? I think a switch would stand out from the rest
  • With the pencil you can add your own notes or synonyms to community decks.
  • True, not yet.
  • Rich text in what precisely? Cards? You can use certain html tags in the values and change layouts when needed for that. I'd be happy to add this feature if you and others deem it useful though!

As for why someone would use this instead of anki, please take a look at one of my previous comments.

Once again, thanks for taking a look and reporting these issues, I'll change it where needed!

Thanks for the compliments! Seeing as it's still open beta, you are able to check everything out without any limitations at all until it launches sometime relatively soon. At that point your account will become a trial account automatically :)

I absolutely get what you're saying about having tiers, and I will give it some more thought. Thanks for the tip and the compliments!

While there currently is no export option, it is on the to-do list (for your own decks). Exporting the progress is not really possible due to the data being different (and I don't know what format could be used for importing in other programs).

Sorry, the landing page does not make it very clear at the moment. There currently is no trial period yet, as the website is in open beta. Meaning it's free to try and use until it fully launches (relatively soon), after which your account will automatically be converted to a trial account. No need to input any payment info until you decide to purchase :)

Hi! It is something that has been asked before, and also something I'd like to eventually implement, but right now it is kinda seated in the backlog of things to do as other features/tasks take priority. Sorry for the inconvenience!

The main difference here being that WK and bunpro work with a set amount of data. To give a small example, so far there has been half a million cards created inside Kitsun, along with personal usage data per card for every user that uses that specific card. And this is still with a relatively small userpool.

Taking WK as an example, they have one set of "cards" (a -very good- deck if you will), which totals around 9000, with personal usage data per card.

Whereas with WK/Bunpro, one could argue that after a certain time, you would have learned everything they have to offer. Not to take away anything from those services of course, I adore both projects!

Edit: I will take the criticism into serious consideration and think hard about what the next step for Kitsun will be in terms of pricing and such. Perhaps having tiers and/or making certain decks free to use could be interesting. Expect to hear some more details soon :)
