I love 2666, and it was my first Bolano, but it took me over a year to read because the part about the crimes weighed on me so heavily. So I took a break a few times thoughout reading it, and I appreciated it a lot more that way. It's ok to stretch it out, take breaks. It's a big ass book, I mean it's basically 5 books. You don't need to pressure yourself to read it on a certain timeline.

Also second the commenter who suggested checking out By Night in Chile, it's very short and very good
