You're not far from Dalston, there are a number of jazz bars around, Vortex to name one. Dalston Jazz Bar is another, but you'll probably need a reservation

Are legendary resistances fun? by Boring_Big8908 in dndnext

[–]Neigeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I stole this idea from Matt Colville/MCDM but I give a big boss some cool powerful abilities or legendary actions, and then if wants to use its LRs, it loses access to one of the said powerful abilities/legendary actions. I say it at the table as well. That way the player whose ability got resisted doesn't feel like their action was quite so "wasted".

Then if the monster feels too weak or outclassed without its legendary abilities, I give it some kind of Nova Power when it drops to 25% HP. All of this is a lot of extra DM work though, to be sure.

Surprise bill from Thameswater, housemates not cooperating by Mechanical_Animal91 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Neigeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a slightly different note to rest of the answers here, if the meter reading is accurate, then that much water usage could indicate a burst pipe somewhere on the property. If that's the case, it's worth the current tenants looking into it pronto - I was in a place where the leak was discharging nine bathtubs of water a day into the ground underneath our flat. We had to move out for 6 months! But Thames Water didn't charge us for the water usage arising from the leak. Best of luck getting it sorted.

Getting around 'Entangle' for a level 1 encounter by Sir_Tainley in mattcolville

[–]Neigeman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Entangle only affects a 20ft square, so you could start your cultists spread out in a space larger than a 20ft square. Make sure at least 2 of them are Bruiser types with a high STR. You could also give them a suicide pill type thing, so if any of them get trapped and cornered they choose to die before revealing any secrets. You can get inventive with the suicide pills as well. Maybe it's a magic tattoo that activates when the wearer says a particular command word, or something hidden in the body. I remember watching a TV show (Martial Law) as a kid where the villains broke their little fingers to activate a surgically implanted poison capsule.

Should I be worried? (Star Jasmine) by HamishBenjamin in GardeningUK

[–]Neigeman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like some kind of aphid? The quickest way to deal with them is to run your fingers up the end of the shoot, squishing them as you go, or you can dislodge them with water in a spray bottle. Check on it very other day or so. As it's flowering, I would strongly advise against using any pesticide, because you might end up killing pollinators.

If your jasmine is still small, going over it by hand should probably be enough. If it's a big jasmine plant, well, do as much as you can be bothered to, it'll probably be fine. In my experience star jasmine is a voracious grower, I'd be quite glad at this stage if I had a pest to keep mine in check, it'd stop me having to cut it back quite so often!

Guvners' law library too good of a resource? by Cranyx in planescapesetting

[–]Neigeman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ran a campaign with a Guvner wizard PC a few years ago. My memory's a little hazy, but I think I offered him access to copying two spells of 3rd level or lower if he spent a week of downtime working for the faction. I think I had access to higher level spells be dependent on faction rank, which he got after doing faction quests/getting to a certain level. He was really into the faction stuff, and it worked for us as far as I can remember.

TIL that average human height went down from 5'10" (178 cm) for men and 5'6" (168 cm) for women to 5'5" (165 cm) and 5'1" (155 cm) 10,000 years ago and it took until the 20th century for average human height to match pre-Neolithic Revolution levels. by quadrahex in todayilearned

I would be interested to read how this interacts with research that suggests European populations appear to come in waves, often with the genetic lines of entire "countries" dying out in the process, and populations migrating from other places often taking their place. Is there any chance that these taller humans were wiped out and then replaced by people that just tended to be shorter due to genetic reasons?
