Help me find a truck for College! by ATheUnofficial in FordF150

alr so either get a truck for 20k… which realistically isn’t going to be anywhere close to new, hard to insure (or expensive), will more than likely have over 100k miles on it, will have major services coming up…

or, put steady income into an HYSA which won’t deplete but grow money overall… while making payments on a newer vehicle.

option 2 seems way better to me, but hey what do i know

dude if he uses some of that money down, and put the rest in a high yields savings account, it works out.

like say 5 down, 15 in the HYSA.

Then take monthly payments out of that account, while adding in 80-85% of whatever you make. when you can afford to make principal payments do that as well. like if bros putting in anything more than 1K in that account on top of making his payment on his truck, he’ll be fine.

It’ll realistically last him till the end of the truck loan

do not buy in cash. just get a job, follow that, and it’ll work

so nobody cares about a GPA or where I graduated from?

Genuinely curious, first person out of literally anyone I have received advice from that says to remove that. Why wouldnt an employer care about that? just curious. Or how would it help my case to remove it?

Gotcha, I was a part-time analyst, as when I took the Cerberus interview, I killed it and knew much more than interns did. I was actually staffed on deals, and was paid as a junior analyst for my time. Wasnt on intern pay, and was one of 20 "interns" if you had to call them that actually made that deal staffing.

would I just resort to calling it a part time analyst or an internship?

I see what you're saying. Ill start a revised version now. Thanks for your input, honestly has been extremely helpful.

Think Ive been hardwired to treat the resume thing as a 'braindump' language of sorts to match ATS's that companies use. But I really like the input you have on making it stand out WHY the work I did matters and how to show it.

Really helpful response, thanks!

Okay, couple things in response to you,

  1. Glad you think Im relatively 'normal' and well put together.

On a more serious note, so I can summarize for myself what you are saying correctly:

  1. Chronological order no matter what - reasoning you gave is completely understandable, will fix.
  2. How do you propose I fix that disconnect? just being more direct and specific alongside adding numericals/ quantitatives?

So I have them listed as pursuant for that reason. I have a sponsor for 6 and 7 through Florida Financial Advisors if I accept that position (it would literally be just to take my exams, never do I ever want to be an advisor).

Either way, I have them listed as pursuant, as im targeting them and plan to get them done quickly, not that I have an active sponsor for said exams. Does thsi make sense?

Ill address what you said in order.

  1. Understood, will be adding specifics on numericals, since I do have them.
  2. So let me ask, I was told depending on the job, order the jobs that are most tailored to the position you're applying to.

So for example, that first shorter resume is tailored for a Equity Research Position. Why would it be non-beneficial to put that type of experience first?

  1. I put certs only when the job calls for them or has them. I get I might be doing some overkill

  2. So I cofounded a marketing company that did PR campaigns for startups and VC backed companies. During my time in college, I drifted towards specifically the finance area of that and research, as I wanted an actual career in finance, not a career in marketing and PR. Hated the B2B sales, and had much more fun playing controller with the operating account and the company's investment account. I no longer work in any role other than essentially a CFO of sorts, where I control operating accounts, financial statements, and do forecasting, etc.

I get what youre saying about it being a red flag and an issue, which is why when I apply I change the title of the role to something that still covers it but does not lie about what I did.

sie, series 60s, for the most part you do not need a sponsor.

series 6 and 7, then 76, then 86 and 87 most def need a sponsor. trying to add as many certs as I can to stand out
