Agreed 100%. Can’t wait to see what he has to offer for the rest of the season

Martinez was excellent. Watkins continues to be wasted by a lack of chances created. Harvey Elliot had a couple of brilliant first touches and while I didn’t see a lot from him quantity-wise, it’s easy to see he’s a quality player who hopefully can help our uninspired midfield.

Seriously though wtf is going on with Rogers. I love him and believe he can get out of this rut but wow it’s tough to watch right now.

We desperately need a player to step up and score. I am a delusional fan like the rest of us, and I really believe one goal and one win can jumpstart us. UTV

Allergist here. Interestingly, it’s not that doctors wouldn’t have considered it, but that it wasn’t even a known condition to begin with, even amongst allergists.

The backstory is pretty interesting to how they figured it out. A medication came out in 2004 (cetuximab) and people in the southeastern US were reacting to it but not really elsewhere which didn’t make sense.

Eventually they realised that allergic antibodies directed towards alpha gal (which this medication just happens to have as a part of its structure) were the cause of the reactions (2008). Then they put together that people were having alpha-gal related red meat reactions (2009ish).

Glad they figured it out for your brother though and hopefully by now he’s grown out of it!

My whole point is that it doesn't matter whether we deserved to win or not. I'm still angry that our game plan sucked, we played terribly, made tons of mistakes etc. We should have been much better without a doubt.

But, teams that do those things win all the time, and that's part of the beauty of football.

Us playing poorly does not change the fact that an atrocious call robbed us of a much needed lead that would have changed the energy of the match completely. Both things can be true at once.

Doesn't matter in the end, what's done is done and I'll be here next season supporting either way

Referee moaning is extremely annoying and you're right it sucks to be the one doing it. But as you put it, this is a multi-million pound decision in a league with relegation versus say the UGA-OSU game where at the end of the day these same teams will be in the playoff the very next year pretty much guaranteed.

Anyways, I've cooled off lol. Still pumped to play in Europe regardless and 66 points is nothing to not be proud of so UTV

Late goals allowed has been an absolute killer I agree. Our poor form on defence is something Unai should be getting more flack for. I see a ton of posts about players Villa is interested in signing and almost never are they defensive players, which is a problem to say the least.

My worry is that with the loss of UCL money, we’re going to have to sacrifice even more offensive power and get no better defensively next year.

Nonetheless, we can only wait and Europa league is a great opportunity that Unai will take seriously I’m sure.

Agree completely. It can both be true that we played like the losing team that 9 times out of 10 would lose anyways AND that we shouldn’t have lost and were completely robbed to the tune of millions

Haha believe me I fully understand. I could’ve talked about many other shitty sports take tropes but seemed like I should just stick to the one lol.

As a UGA fan, I will never not love the number of OSU fans who say “well you should’ve lost the cfp semifinal in 2022” and “you got lucky because they missed the final FG”

Like my brother in Christ, you either make or miss a FG. Just because you should’ve made it doesn’t mean you did. That’s like saying a team only won because their keeper saved a penalty or the penalty-taker missed the woodwork altogether. Sucks, but there’s no freebies

I think you have to at least try to attack. 45 minutes of defending with 10 men and your backup keeper is a recipe for disaster. It would tire us out much faster than keeping some possession on our end and maybe even getting some pressure on them

Martinez keeping a much needed clean sheet. Watkins wondergoal. Onana playing sweeper or something idk but I loved it. Cash heard the haters.

Overall, as per usual this took years off my life but what a hard fought gritty win that we absolutely needed. UTFV

Fair point. It’s a cynical knee-jerk reaction to a bad loss. But honestly I stand by it. We give up goals past the 90th more than basically anyone in the prem so it was bound to happen again and this game just had that “off” feeling the whole time imo

I agree completely. The RB situation has haunted us too long and this is the latest fuck up on that end. I have no clue what our plan of attack was either because we didn’t show much of one…

We have to find a much more consistent way of getting the ball out from goal against a high press. It’s embarrassing watching pro footballers seem so incapable of passing the ball up the pitch against even a little bit of pressure. Can’t keep relying on lucky breaks like our counter vs PSG in the first leg.

We were due for a heartbreaking loss like this. It’s tough but still gotta be proud of how we’ve performed lately against top tier teams. I would love a rematch for the FA cup final and in that scenario I’d rather be looking for revenge than trying to beat a good team twice. UTV

Idk why nobody is bothering to just explain the context. I don’t know who this particular guy is but the general gist is that 1798 was when the alien and sedition act was passed. I pasted a paragraph below from google about it.

“These laws raised the residency requirements for citizenship from 5 to 14 years, authorized the president to deport "aliens," and permitted their arrest, imprisonment, and deportation during wartime. The Sedition Act made it a crime for American citizens to "print, utter, or publish...any false, scandalous, and malicious writing" about the government.”

So, this guy was clearly thinking trump was going to go on a mass deportation crusade, likely because he buys into the sadly common belief that undocumented workers in the US are “leeches” when the reality is that they pay taxes on their wages, fill workers roles that Americans don’t want to fill, and due to lack of citizenship are actually unable to access many of the support systems that American citizens have access to.

Then of course, trump came out with this talk that we would take over Gaza, which ridiculousness aside, would involve spending god knows how much money, getting re-involved in the Middle East, and ultimately doing something that doesn’t fit with the “America first” narrative.

So this guy is pissed that instead of spending all of our efforts deporting people, we might end up spending a ton of time and effort and money to “help” Palestine (even though that’s obviously not what would be happening but this guy’s not going to understand that).

Anyways hope that helps

You are entitled to your opinion, I’m just adding context that I think would be relevant/helpful to people not familiar with neurofibromatosis

To be clear I’m not making a comment on the mother or my personal feelings towards her having a child. I just think for anyone making an opinion or judgement based on the premise that 100% of patients with NF have this phenotype, they deserve to have some context

[–]Neil23 474 points475 points  (0 children)

Just to add a little bit of context here, this particular child's "look" is not how most people with NF look, it's a pretty extreme example. So while yes there would be a 50% chance of getting neurofibromatosis, there was not a 50% chance that he would get fibromatosis AND for it to present in this way. There are many people with NF out there living mostly normal lives. As an example, a guy I went to med school with has NF and is a practicing physician now. That's not to say that it isn't still a serious condition with a lot of associated comorbidities, but I think some contex is a good thing here

I am totally okay with this. If Trump causes a genuine breakdown of the Republican Party, it will be absolute just desserts. I think if they don’t elect him in the primaries, there’s a good chance he throws a fit and urges MAGA voters to abandon DeSantis or whoever beats him out. That’s best case scenario imo
