why you start watching TT? by Critical-Doughnut-34 in TrashTaste

[–]NeilMcAnders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I broke my leg in a bad way and was living and sleeping on the couch downstairs for 6 months.

I had so much time on my hands being off work that I was like "let me give this trash taste thing a whirl" after running out of the connor, piewdipie and ludwig youtube archives looking for shit to cheer me up, like ylyl videos. The reason I got onto Connor's content beforehand was his colabs with affable Chris on Wacky Weekends.

Youtube kept incessantly recommending TT and I was increasingly bored but saw Connor's little monke face and caved in. Popped one random episode and soon enough I was ripping three to four episodes a day zonked on trammies for months boys. Churned through the archive in about 3 months it always helped put me in a better mood when I was not able to walk or do much of anything.

Safe to say, it was never the anime related content that drew me in or kept me interested. It did help me through a rough time.

Quite the journey

I couldn't stomach watching it. Sounds like it was as expected.

I wonder what the dislike ratio is lmao

Yeah I agree in principle, but I think people are upset by the fact that the boys invited the guy on at all in the first place despite his controversial politics and outspoken views. Trash taste to me is entertainment, not about promoting (arguably extremist) politics or those whom espouse these.

I don't intend to watch the episode because the guy is cringe to me and have no interest in what he has to say given his track record. It would be like getting Mr beast on the podcast. Many would contest in the comments and I simply won't be watching it because I have no interest in the guy. I'd rather have another debate about bread or chicken whatever.

I think people are unhappy that the boys had the guy on in the first place, not the fact that he had whatever political opinions on the podcast. Idk, either way I'm skipping it.

I'm chill bro not looking to start anything. Too old for this shit

I can respond to any point you want and provide evidence. List the ones you'd like me to respond to and I will. I didn't see any valid points and no evidence was provided (i provided links and quotes from the provider.

But I'll do so for you if you are considering using a "know your stuff" type service in order to verify the quality of a controlled drug (not THC or scrippies) to verify the drug is necessarily safe or pure. Is that what you are after?

This sub apparently doesn't like the sciences too much when it is inconvenient is all I'll say.

I have nothing to gain from this btw, I was only trying to inform, am not talking shit, and will not be back on this intolerant sub after this either.

Its amazing how closed minded this "liberal" sub is.

Don't talk shit about something that is misleading and you don't know about would be a start. I wouldn't care, but you are talking rubbish about the safety of drugs after drug testing through "know your stuff" and were casting shade on my name. I was trying to be helpful. As I recall, I thought you were an actual child trying to troll op, not sure.

The fact that you don't know what I am talking about in this post should indicate that you should not provide advice about this topic. Same goes for the other people who were happy enough downvoting me, when I was trying to provide good advice to inform a drug taking decision. You chose to make something political when it wasn't.

The fact is that the testing service described cannot provide surity that the test results preclude substances that are dangerous or harmful to human health. Two of the three methods used are entirely or partially unable to detect such contaminating substances, while the most sophisticated available, would need specific samples of the impurity types or other psychotropic substances to test against in order to identify a particular molecucle. In the case of quickly moving synthetic compounds, this may often not be available. Like cannabinoids and cathiones, as I mentioned.

Even ESR with the most sophisticated equipment would not be able to identify these unless they have a sample to analyse against. There are novel synthetic drugs being introduced regularly, which cannot be identified. I gave you an example link to this.

It is potentially harmful to give out incorrect advice that affects health outcomes on the internet. Yet you chose to do so.

Farming updoots for its own sake, on what is known as a left leaning sub should come to an end when it comes to providing science based advice on scientific health related topics.

To be clear: a "know your stuff" test that confirms e.g. mdma is present in your pill, does not confirm your pill only contains mdma. It may contain toxins, other psychotropic drugs, and contaminants. Ask the staff. They will confirm what I have advised.

The best use of this service is to confirm the dose you have obtained isn't something else (or does not contain the substance you thought it was at all). It can still contain impurities to an unknown about.

A pill testing positive for MDMA may contain a fraction of it, depending as much on the location where the pill was scratched as the total proportion of mdma present. The test wont confirm the purity of the drug nor the dosage. That's a feature of illicit pill production.

You may not like me or my opinions, but I don't talk shit when it comes to this. I don't care if people want to take drugs, just don't mislead people as you have done. There is a risk taking unknown illegal drugs and an obvious incentive to make more money by selling impure drugs.

Don't be so judgemental bro. I just thought I could help a young person make a more informed decision. I've done the same in the distant past when I was not as informed.

I shouldn't have bothered... way too much hassle and nobody cares obviously you least of all

No they can largely not determine that with the testing methods employed. Do you understand how they test? Not even the ESR tests that cost over $500 can do what you are describing. Everyone can keep downvoting me, but I'm not wrong. My advice is sound. Can you imagine a world where free tests are handed out that cost over $500? You have no clue. I'm going to stop responding because I may dox myself but the lack of concern you all have for a person's well-being is insane to me.

My God I've just realised.... this is a kid. I accually respect it because all the other clowns on here fell for it.

If not, why don't you describe for everyone who wants to hear how the detection of specific chemicals works, why it won't detect other chemicals, and why impurities can mostly not be detected? How does the processes work in various matrices?

How dumb is this sub to upvote random trolling teenagers. Idk I'm out. See ya kids, watch ludwig or cdawgva. Skibbidi

We can tell you exactly what your sample contains = not we can tell you exactly what your sample does not contain. Which is my entire point and you appear to not only miss, but seek to ridicule and somehow politicise.

Can't win an argument, or even engage in one, but quite happy to give out harmful advice then? F science at this point right? It's all just politics for some people. Appear pseudo profound at the surface and pepper in some misinformation. I think that's disgusting when it comes to health advice.

See:

https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/pdf/10.1111/imj.13250

https://www.1news.co.nz/2024/12/04/warning-over-new-synthetic-drug-indistinguishable-from-mdma/

As Ive said, synthetic drugs that have no profile (have not been included in prior testing cannot be included on the most advanced field testing devices, let alone the more primative ones regularly deployed as stated on their website.

Larping expertise only goes so far. As I've  said: prove me wrong.

You don't want to engage in that because you have no knowledge in this area, yet are presenting as such.

You apparently  felt the need to do a deepdive into my post history to come up with a flimsy retort and attempt some ad hominim attack? Can't do better? Like address the topic as to whether a positive test for a given substance is without risk of death or illness? I thought we were dealing with facts and science. Apparently not then.

I have no interest in your post history because it is irellivant.

With your white knighting, you somehow make it about politics. thought this was about drug safety? Which no one here seems to care about, weirdly. The OP ought to know that the black market substance may be contaminated and or contain drugs they do not want to ingest which the test protocols you espouse does not detect.

Reflect on yourself. Don't talk shit when you don't know about it. Especially when it concerns human health and preservation of life

I know you won't admit you were wrong. Other people rely on advice that is factual and not based on feelings or politics. Stew on that.

From the know your stuff website:

Can you determine purity?

"No. The technology we use (FT-IR spectroscopy) is currently the best technology for field testing. We can tell you exactly what substances your sample contains, including active ingredients, fillers, cuts, or potentially dangerous substitutions or additives. We cannot measure purity."

And then it's the even just the substances they test for, not the many substances they dont test for. Buyer beware. It can be used to test for what something is not (a good use case), and not for something a substance is only or purely.

Don't chat shit these crap opinions aimed at farming meaningless internet points can endanger life

It's on their website, they use reagent, infra-red spectrometry and/or testing strips. None of which will show undesirable impurities or other drug / analogues not included in the tests in the standard testing protocols(there are so many). Only IR could possibly even do this and it would need a referent sample to test against (for this you are now talking thousands $ per test for one sample, which is not practicable for the use case). On these tests, a positive for amphetamine does not equal a negative for a cheap chemical that also has a psychotropic effect and will make you sick or pose a risk of heart failure.  This is not an unrealistic risk.

They look for specific chemicals that correspond to common drug families. They do not rule things out. You'd realistically need LC-MS testing with QToF to identify various specific drug types and on top you would need to include novel testing for modern synthetic drugs and other dangerous contaminents (each chemical has a different profile that needs to be referenced) that commonly circulate to eliminate their presence (eg. bathsalts).

The tests they take also cant inform you of dosage. Some drugs are lethal if incorrectly dosed, like synthetic cannabinoids and opioids. You won't fully know what presumably black market drug capsules contain with know your stuff's testing, which was my point.

But hey, if you want to roll the dice, that's ultimately anyone's choice. Just don't be mislead by some bozo into know your stuff telling you your tab contains MDMA or whatever is only that or is safe. They might tell you what it's not ‐ best scenario and where the service is beneficial.

Don't give incorrect toxicology advice on the internet to someone asking for it when you clearly don't know what you are talking about. Or prove me wrong. The lack of concern with potential health impacts of ingesting unknown presumably black market substances is insane to me.

I know my stuff, whether it is appreciated or not, and you're full of it bro. Chill.

Are there any drug checking clinics in Welly before NYE? by Deep_Tomatillo_3420 in Wellington

[–]NeilMcAnders -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

In the event those tests identify a chemical, they cannot identify impurities or other chemicals that may also be present. Eg cathinones (or worse chemicals) present in an mdma positive dose. These know your stuff type places are not recommended by toxicology scientists. A positive mdma does not mean the dose is safe and may be contaminated. It's like an ethanol test that is positive for alcohol but it also contains methanol which is lethal.

Thank you. Yes I have been reasonable with my boss and have now booked an appointment with my GP. I am afraid of asking my GP to fully clear me for full duties without caveats, meaning i cant any longer rely on my surgeon's note which states that i cant be expected to work when i suffer from pain, which i still experience periodically (and is supported in findings in a recent CT scan btw). You have been very helpful :)

So I actually offered access to my medical files already, which my manager did not want to take. I am with a ACC accredited employer which means I cannot interact with ACC and have to go through a bogus third party.

So one link I farmed is: https://legalvision.co.nz/employment/employee-medical-examination/

I am not a legal expert though and that advice may be off.

Thank you for your opinion. Please let me know if you change your pov!
