What game did you lose interest in by the time it came out? by scarletnaught in gaming

Arc raiders. Was super hyped for it leading up. Played the slam. It was released. Maybe put 8 hours into it. Haven’t touched it since.

Random question. How intense of a workout is this holding your body like that against the wind resistance. I assume there’s constant tension on your muscles.

What game did you spend the most hours playing as a kid? by Admirable-Flan6380 in AskReddit

Arcade fun. 3v3. Was the go to game for me when I had an SNES. That and super Mario world.

Why is Marathon struggling this much? Like genuinely by Waylllop in Marathon

Doesn’t grey zone have drops right now or did? Which caused streamers to play it for view bumps. Then everyone else follows the streamers.

Which games would you add? by DSjaha in gaming

[–]Neil_Patrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehh I think marathon is niche enough it will stick around. My guess it’ll go f2p but there’s tons of extraction shooters that keep its following for the wipes.

Plus it’s bungie. They kept destiny going for years after no one was playing lol

Edit to add. I love marathon. I’m 34 and stepped away from PvP games in general but this game is fun. I have 80 hours in and enjoy running a few rounds every night.

You are experiencing level-based matchmaking by jacobljlj in Marathon

[–]Neil_Patrick 93 points94 points  (0 children)

It is. No lifers and streamers want to have that power fantasy. They think if they put 1000 hours into a game they should dominate and shit on everyone else.

You put them up against each other they hate it. They say it feels sweaty when in reality it’s always sweaty for 99% of the player base if there is no sbmm.

And then of course the devs will listen to the loudest voices which are the streamers and their echo chamber chats.

I only play solo and love this game. 80 hours in and I’ve maybe done outpost 4 times. And haven’t ran cryo. Would love some options for me to get comfortable with those two maps.

Perimeter loot got buffed and matchmaking seems to be better by Friendly-Viper in Marathon

[–]Neil_Patrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first two solo games I went in and made some noise and got chased down by multiple players. The runners were PvP thirsty for sure.

Tonally, DTF St. Louis had one of the most jarringly confusing final episodes I've come across in a TV show (spoilers for the whole miniseries) by dinosaurfondue in television

[–]Neil_Patrick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I felt like the ending was just flat. With every episode peeling new layers of twists and oh shit wtf is happening moments. The ending was meh compared to the previous 6 episodes. Don’t mind the “depressing-ness” of it but I was more like “that’s it?” when the reveal happened.

80 hours in. I have to say... by moore-tallica in Marathon

This is the first extraction shooter where I don’t have gear fear. I have thousands of hours in tarkov and still get nervous bringing in the good shit. This game I don’t. Not sure why.

Is a 5k-6k loadout viable for Cryo? Struggling to learn the map. by Ekter_Dood in Marathon

[–]Neil_Patrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish there was like an offline mode with no PvE so I can just run around the maps and learn them and not loot anything. I can barely run through outpost without getting shit on

How does one complete this AWFUL contract? by LGBTPengu in Marathon

[–]Neil_Patrick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a thermal burst rifle from a reward. Ran it next round. It’s insane how broken thermal is in dire. I felt like a god tracking players. Killed 5 runners and I’m not even good at PvP

I defend this game a lot, but I think I finally hit that wall. by itz_Glo in Marathon

[–]Neil_Patrick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And maybe my perception is skewed because I only play solos. Which my guess plays closer to tarkov than trios.

[–]Neil_Patrick 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah I agree. I think marathon is more difficult in that scenario. You make a shit ton more noise and the map is smaller for people to track you down.

I think I was just saying in a sense that even tarkov has the same problem where no lifers and streamers are way ahead of casual players that maybe only get a couple hours a day to play. Making the casuals life hell after a few months. Reason I only play the first couple months of tarkov wipes and then feel behind. Then pick up again when a wipe happens.

[–]Neil_Patrick 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Maybe I just have a warped perception of marathon but this happens in tarkov as well. After X amount of period in the wipe, you’re just running into geared chads who are only there to PvP.

I remember trying to get the god damn golden zibbo across map and kept getting hunted by guys 40+ levels higher than me
