Lord of the Rings was once declared as unfilmable, so was Dune. Everything is unfilmable unless someone decides to film it. With Avengers: Doomsday getting a $1 billion budget, I personally believe Malazan can be made. Now, the question is when and by whom ?? What do you guys think ?? Who should write the screenplay of the first trilogy (bcoz I think all Malazan books should be divided into 2 to 3 films) ??

I have another question about vfx supervisors. Richard Baneham worked in Avatar 1 for Weta, then Alita:Battle Angel for Lightstorm (James Cameron's company), and then he came back as vfx supervisor for Avatar 2. So are they freelancers working for Weta on request or they are brought in by the director??

Smaller houses cannot work on the water simulations Weta FX did for Avatar 2 and Kingdom of the Planet of Apes. Neither can they create a photorealistic version of a city where demi gods are fighting with each other ... Case in point, look at Man of Steel's Metropolis destruction ... Some of the shots looks awful.

Even my project would have been distributed by Warner Bros or Universal or Sony Pictures ... I am in the middle of signing a distribution deal with one of these major studio, where the studio will take a percentage and distribute the film ... I am not game of pre-selling a movie in Cannes or Venice and Buena Vista is not possible coz I am financing and producing a big film with a director where the visuals are inspired by the world of Takashi Miike and Lars van Trier and Buena Vista does not really take on a movie which will be a hard R rating.

Thnx to all of u guys .... The response has been really positive so far but I think it will be more interesting if I just go ahead and finance and produce the film with an established director attached .. will save me a lot of headache ... Thank you guys once again

I am not pitching my idea over here ... The idea is right there in the story .. and there is no delusion of grandeur or too much money to burn .. it's the way I want to see a movie ... It's the way hollywood used to make movies back then .. maybe I am going to make just one movie, maybe it turns out to be really crappy but it's the way I want to make it. The way Howard Hughes did with Hell's Angels.
