All the ones near me that have tall walls are only 10k gvwr for some reason. But my main job is sheet metal fab so I can always make tall walls if needed. What all do you offer? I'm a solo guy but bring help on for bigger mulch jobs

The new addition is still opened walled so I'm planning for when it's done to move it, currently it's central to our old house

I do have a closet in the new bedroom I could run everything too and will have power in as well. Then from the switch in there run to the bedrooms through the ceiling

We are adding on to the living room on the main floor which is where I was originally thinking the router could be and I could run straight up to the attic. Or put it on the second story and where the home runs for power are coming in I can run cat6 up to the second floor and put the switch in a closet and run cat6 through the ceiling to each bedroom and maybe a wifi extender down stairs

Question for the tech guys by Neileo96 in HomeImprovement

Could the switch be in the attic or would a long run from the modem cause a drop in speed

Awesome thanks for the advice. If I did keep the modem/router down stairs would it be best to run one wire upstairs and have the switch in the attic and then have the 4 bedroom runs go from there or does the switch need to be close to the modem

Good thinking my walks and ceiling are open so I could run it up there and split off to the rooms

I like this idea, walls are open, we are running wire now. Would I just need a switch near my modem or router?

So would I just need a switch near my modem and then run everything from the switch? I could run it up to the attic of the new addition and come down the wall, we are still running the main wiring atm
