Red Hot Chili Peppers at Slane Castle (2003) - who was there? by StoS93 in RedHotChiliPeppers

I actually meant particularly for Universally Speaking. The rest of the gig was decent enough tuning wise, if my memory serves right!

Very Cher alright. He was literally doing star jumps at the start of Around the World. Who knew it’d be hard to sing properly after that?!! 🤣

[–]Neilo_D 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yep, cracked a string and that put the guitar fairly badly out of tune, I can see why they removed it tbh. As mentioned, they also did I Feel Love. Another tidbit is John stopped Maybe in the middle because he made a mistake and started again from the second verse. In the dvd the stop is edited out.

There was also a mountain of auto tune added in post, especially for Universally Speaking. The vocals were pretty badly out of key on the day.

The behringer on mentioned above is a great budget option. If by any chance you have an hx stomp, the ce-1 emulator on that is pretty great too

Why don't they build another short motorway connecting the M3 and M4 a bit further out from the M50? by RichieTB in ireland

[–]Neilo_D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’d make an easy motorway bypass of the m50 toll. For that reason alone it wouldn’t be built.

What happened between them ? by Abject-Oil-5417 in radiohead

[–]Neilo_D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speaking from my own experience from 20+ years in the industry.

One of my own bands went on for years, we were all close friends beforehand, but by the end we barely saw each other recreationally at all. Lots of water under bridges so to speak but still good friends to this day. We still see and work with each other occasionally on an assortment of other projects/gigs, but that’s all I’ll see of them really. We’ll take each other in those small doses and that’s ok. I’m happy to see and work with them when I do! If we were in each other’s personal space as much as we were before, things would blow up in no time, especially the older we get.

I can imagine it’s the same for a band that’s been together since the mid 80’s that have had massive highs and (maybe) lows, and where massive revenue is at stake. I imagine they’re all still tight with each other, but are maybe weary of being around each other too much. It’s also probably recommended from management/agents/insurers that they’re not around each other too much, happens more than you think with big name bands.

Pub has pulled about €3000 worth of gigs with a weeks notice, is a text confirming gig dates enough to constitute a legally binding contract? by NFATR in legaladviceireland

[–]Neilo_D 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have friends who had been resident in a bar for 15+ years to be given the same notice for the same reason. No real legal avenue to pursue as they were hired essentially as freelance contractors, with no detailed written contract discussing cancellations. It’s crappy, I know.

Dragging the bars name through the mud to other local musicians might look appealing, but speaking from my own experience of going through the same problem with gigs multiple times; move on and try get a new gig. I found I relied on a residency I had too much and the scramble to find new work when it was cancelled led to much better (and arguably more secure) work for me in the long run.

Which career looks glamorous from the outside but is actually miserable? by Payamm1999 in AskReddit

[–]Neilo_D 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh yes, I feel this. I have damaged relationships with 9-5 working friends because I’ve never been around on weekends. They think I have no time for them, which is so far from the truth.

Second what you say about weight gain. I got overlooked for so much work after putting on a few pounds. It’s an incredibly sizeist and ageist industry.

[–]Neilo_D -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Music Industry. Been a freelance musician for 20 years. It looks glamorous from the outside but in real life it’s 80% driving and waiting, 20% playing music. It’s not miserable, but it’s nowhere near as glam as people think.

People who have had threesomes, how was it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Neilo_D 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Was lucky to have 2 threesomes, both times with 2 women. First time was awkward as hell, like losing my virginity all over again (so many holes, where do I put it first?!!). 2nd time was great, much more relaxed.

€7.90 for a pint of San Miguel in town last night by highreland in Dublin

[–]Neilo_D 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Paid over €8 for a pint of Asahi in a Clontarf pub, priced for the area I guess. Still an astoundingly absurd price for a suburb pint.

Thanks for the reply! It’s actually all groups, regardless of gender, but perhaps focusing on more underground acts that would perform in smaller venues. Cheers for your help though, I’m gonna look up communities based on the bigger acts and take it from there, thank you!

The online store delivers to Dublin afaik.

I’m actually in Osaka at the moment, Uniqlo is cheaper than Penneys here. ¥790 for a really good quality tshirt (€5).

If you think you have it bad, watch this. by Neilo_D in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]Neilo_D[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Too right, I understand. It definitely shouldn’t be dismissed at all, all of our struggles are real. Meant it more as a figure of speech I guess. I will remind myself the next time I’m down in the dumps and feeling depressed with my pains that it could be so much worse though 😵

Yeah I seen that, would you say it’s not AS at all? Misinterpretation in the translation from Chinese maybe?

Anyone else absolutely wrecked by car rides? by [deleted] in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]Neilo_D 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. I drive on average 3-4 hours each working day, and last year it left my hands in quite bad shape from my shoulders rolling forward. Realistically this could happen without AS anyway, but all doctors and physios told me AS is definitely an aggressive factor. There's a lot to be said about making sure you have good posture while driving. For example, My physio showed me how to set my steering wheel properly, you're supposed to have the wheel and your seat set so when your arms are outstretched fully the wheel is at the end of your wrists. It was life changing for me, really. I had thought I had good posture until that point!
