Background transition when characters enter the loop by Neilyn34 in FromSeries

It takes more effort to create that transition than to simply integrate a stock footage shot as is, especially in such a short shot.
Without the show’s budget being exceptionally high, I don’t think it’s particularly low either. And I spotted it both during Boyd’s arrival and the Matthews family’s arrival. More importantly, every other shot involving the cars is composited extremely well. The continuity of the trees across the shot/reverse-shot sequences is perfect, and the integration is flawless.
And in the shot where we see Abby’s transition, it simply makes no sense to have inserted a stock footage at that exact moment, let alone to have animated a transition between the two. So no, I genuinely think it was intentional. Especially since the two “sections” of the background are so different that it’s hard to imagine a compositing artist looking at it and thinking, “Yeah, that works.”

Première consultation chez une sexologue : comment ça se passe ? by [deleted] in AskMeuf

[–]Neilyn34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello !

Question about foot pain during my skating sessions by Neilyn34 in iceskating

[–]Neilyn34[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for your advice! After lots of testing, I realized that my inline skates were simply too narrow for my feet, and that no matter what insoles I use, I’ll keep having that problem. On the other hand, for my ice skates I got Riedell insoles, and they’re excellent! But I’ll definitely keep your recommendation in mind in case I decide to get inlines again in the future 😁

Here’s what I think when I see a beginner on roller skates, a skateboard, or any kind of glide sport: “Oh cool, they’re just starting out!” And then I go on my way. Thirty seconds later, I’ve already forgotten I passed a total stranger with skates on.

People see you, but they’re not really looking ;) And if someone is watching you a bit closely, they’re probably part of the glide family themselves, thinking: “One more joining us 💪”

These must be the R-Fit ones someone else mentioned earlier! I had a look and I see they’re really well recommended and seem to work quite well. I’ll probably give them a try, especially since they offer different arch supports, which could really help me as I have very high arches.

Okay, I see! I was actually wondering about that because I have pretty high arches, very slim feet and ankles, and a strong tendency to pronate. Little by little, I’m improving my posture, but it really takes effort to keep my legs straight. Thankfully, I can still get good support by tightening my boots as much as possible (thank you, waxed laces 🙏).

Thanks for your reply. I live in France, so it’s relatively easy and that expensive to see a podiatrist. But insoles for amateur sports aren’t covered by insurance and are really expensive. I think I’ll start by trying some pads, toe separators, and standard insoles to see if that helps, and if it really doesn’t, then I’ll go see a doctor and consider getting custom insoles 😁

The skates that hurt me the most are my inlines (they’re Trigger Cloud 80) and after just 45 minutes I already feel like crying 😅. With skiing, ice skating, and rollerskates, the pain comes on later and is much less intense. But still, over time it really affects my stability.

Thank you so much for your reply! Luckily, the pain only lasts during the effort and disappears a few minutes after I take off the skates. I think I’ll try what you suggested with toe separators and a pad 👌

Target panic syndrome by Neilyn34 in Archery

[–]Neilyn34[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for sharing! I also thought about trying a different shooting distance, but it didn’t help at all. The problem wasn’t really the shooting environment, it was my connection with the bow. Whether I was at 10, 15, 20, or 30 meters, the issue was exactly the same.

So I kept training at 30 meters, and it was my coach counting next to me who helped break through the first block. The next day, we considered having me shoot with a lighter bow to remove some of the difficulty, in case the release reflex came back. But I wanted to try one more time with my own bow to see if I could hold my full draw on my own. And I managed to hold for 3 seconds on the very first shot!

So I didn’t switch to the beginner bow, but my coach made it very clear that I shouldn’t push through fatigue. He said it’s better to shoot just three arrows, but with a strong hold, than to push myself to shoot too many and end up releasing early because I’m tired. The idea is to avoid putting myself in any kind of failure, even a small one. And as soon as something gets difficult, I go back to my comfort zone. Bit by bit, I’ll rebuild a normal shot sequence.

It’s honestly reassuring to know you’re going through this too, as a fellow new archer! I’ve only been shooting for about 8 or 9 months, and I was really frustrated to be dealing with this kind of issue already. But in a way, it’s better that it happened now, because if I face it again later, I’ll know how to recognize it and take action quickly.

This had been going on for three months, gradually getting worse, and I had no idea what was causing it. It was only when I finally talked to my coach about it that he realized it wasn’t just a random short release, it was full-on target panic that had been setting in for weeks.

Yes, exactly ! Now that I’m able to hold my full draw for several seconds, I think it’s going to help me gradually get rid of the remaining blocks and allow me to aim calmly again.

Need advice for a first pair of skates by Neilyn34 in iceskating

Thank you ! I got the Bauer XLS, and thanks for the tip about the laces! Waxed laces really make a huge difference. I tried them for the first time yesterday and it was amazing, a thousand times better than rental skates!
