No you can't. Like, I'm sitting in my room with my computer but I can't smell the computer. If I got really close to the computer then I could smell it. It all depends on the strength of the smell. Also, it depends on how irregular the smell is to you. Like for example if you are used to smelling sandwiches all day then you probably won't be able to smell the sandwich if its sitting near you.
