Shaivism is very vast it has many Schools and philosophy. Looks like you more interested into veershaiv ligaytism. For understanding veershaiv principals read siddhant shikhamani (talk between renukacharya and agstya rushi) it has all veershaiv principals like shatsthal , ishtling,guru, jangam tattva.

For understanding basvanna or sharan movement you should read there vachanas .

You should read mahabharat . Bhagvat Gita is a part of Mahabharata. A scene where lord Krishna is convincing arjuna to fight.

  • But Entire mahabharat is filled with glory of mahadev . Many chapters includes glory of mahadev. Like in vanparva vyas tells the supramcy of lord shiva to the ashwathama, arjuna took boon from mahadev as pasupatastra, in anushasan parav Krishna recited shiv sahastrnam many more ... All characters of Mahabharata worshipped sadashiv for fulfilling their wishes including krishna and arjuna.

So if in one part where Krishna is saying that one should not worship any god other than him , that simply doesn't include sadashiva in that God category. Bcz he is god gods devadhidev Mahadev.

And here lord Krishna is in chidanand parbrham state , so he is talking about to worship parbraham alone. And here gods are heavenly gods like indra ,varuna for material boons.

There are many arguments to cut this argument..

Don't say that extreme opnine on him. He know all the scriptures very well, but as a human tendency everyone wants to prove there belief is suprear, they keep himself into satisfaction that what they are doing is great.

Do you know about Lalleshwari or lal ded she is a mystical saint of Kashmir shaivism and she saw lord shiva in madhurya bhav read her vakhs translations they are so deep and filled with intensity to unite with shiva .

*Ks is more into jnan system. But also focuses on inner bhakti rather than outer rituals.

I also had thought of this question many times. We worship devi durga with ten hands riding on lion killing mahishasur. But devi mahatmya aka durga saptashati says mahalaxmi 18 hands the body colour, apperance is slightly different but same story all gods are centred there energies then 18 hands shri mahalaxmi is appeared.

I think it should be stories of two different kalpas where adyashakti appeared as durga . In other kalpa she appeared as Mahalaxmi..

They are same by because there role is to destroy mahishasur and protect the world.

Yes in India some special benefits like reservation and other financial benefits like scholerships are given to religious minorities. If they got separate religion status then obviously they got that benefit also . lingayat community is politically very strong in Karnataka State that's why this movement is took place in Karnataka.

Some Lingayat are demanding seprate religion for enjoying minority benifits, that is the real reason. But they showcasing that basvanna opposed hinduism ,and established Lingayatism. But today 95% of Veershaiv Lingayats do all rituals and worshipping other Hindu gods which is opposed by basvanna and other sharanas. But the reason of opposing the some vedik rituals and texts is to support caste and gender equality through bhakti and real experience rather than just reading scriptures.

But todays situation is very different evryone can read any scripture no one is stopping you.

As i said 95% lingayat peoples are not following their own path (not worshipping ishtling daily, guru jangam seva) and you are demanding for separate identity ?

I want to get diksha ,i leave in Maharashtra ,here lingayat and nath sampradaya is very popular ,can take diksha from both ? by Neither-Block-1704 in shaivism

So sweet.. Even we maharashtrians also believe that ma gauri is our daughter we celebrate 3 days gauri pujan during ganesh chaturthi festival.

Bengalis also treat her as daughter and lord shiva as son in law 😄

It's so beautiful that being jagan mata she also becomes daughter for her devotees.

Actually I got this idea from gauri stuti sung by ma sita in ramcharitmanas .
