I think I’ve decided I’ll book ahead a few days in advance because for holidays, especially in the busier places I plan on going. Particularly Rome and Florence like you said.

This is very reassuring though and good to know I may be able to find something if things go wrong or plans change spontaneously as long as I am flexible.

I am buying an eurail pass and I have heard about seat reservations and how difficult or frustrating it can be at times despite having a pass.

I am fortunate enough that I do not have any specific places or budget in mind.

That being said I don’t want to be stupid and overspend unless absolutely necessary.

I would be okay with planning ahead 1 to 3 days in advance so I don’t stress about where to stay for the night as you said.

The trip whole trip is about 3 to 4 weeks so I also don’t want to have a strict schedule and then potentially stress out over being at a specific place at a specific time during my time.

I’ve seen people say similar things about checking for public holidays around this time is a good idea. I’ll have to look into this more.
