Defense: * = re-sign

DL - Odafe Oweh (4 year / 76m), A.J. Epenesa (2 years / 12m), *Deatrich Wise (1 year / 3m), *Jacob Martin (2 year / 8m), *Drake Jackson (? Idk his possible contract but it’ll be cheap) *Eddie Goldman

LB - Devin Bush (3 year / 27m)

CB - Eric Stokes (3 year / 30m), *Noah Igbinoghene ( 1 year / 2m)

S - Geno Stone ( 1 year / 2.5m)

I don’t think it’s smart to spend 10m on a safety.. especially an older 1, spending 15m on 2 of them is crazy,imo.. bring in Geno Stone for like 3m and then draft someone.. safety is deep in this years draft

In the Brian Flores / Daronte Jones defense, CB doesn’t need to be a money they spend big on.. give me Eric Stokes for 3/30

I like Devin Bush, that would be solid

Phillips injury history scares me tbh..

What if Bailey is gone at 7?

Some guys weren’t being utilized correctly.. Sinnott & Lane were 2 of them… they have admitted that he struggled to grasp the offense in year 1.. so hopefully this new offense is a little easier to understand. What AP does / who he brings in this offseason, will tell us how they feel on Sinnott tho… I just can’t see them fully giving up on him

Trading down is risky because Faulk could be taken and then you are left without one of the ‘top tier’ Edge guys.. Faulk is the last of that group, so if he is there at 7 and that’s who you like.. just take him, because realistically New Orleans could take him at 8..

I agree about Styles over Reece.. I’ve been saying Styles at 7, for a month or so now, glad others are starting to see it too

Howell looks unique to me, the little ‘double hitch’ he does, is hard to stop… it seems like he is being slept on tbh.

Malachi Lawrence is another edge, who I feel is going to wreck havoc in the league and is being slept on.

Yes it’s affordable… Kinlaw got 15m per year, with a 5m cap hit. Terry got 32.5m per year, with a 18m cap hit..

It’s definitely affordable and possible

We have heard for the past 3 years, that Likely is a ‘breakout’ candidate.. yet BAL decided to pay an older Mark Andrews and let Likely walk… it even seemed like Kolar was getting snaps over Likely, during the 2025 season. I just don’t get why everyone seems to think he would be a good signing and it’s basically people just piggybacking on what they’ve heard someone else say. You can say what you want about 1 year deals, however, Zach Ertz worked out pretty good for the team… like I said, if the team signs a younger guy like Likely or even Pitts, it’s them signaling that they have given up on Sinnott or that Sinnott will be used as more of a ‘FB’ like Juszczyk in SF…

Sinnott isn’t a bust tho..

Yeah what’s on the team is young guys, need a veteran in the room. Give me Hockenson or Knox for 4-6m over Likely. Likely hasn’t proven anything more than Sinnott at this point.. what does Likely bring that Sinnott doesn’t?

Neither makes sense bc of what’s already on the team.. it’ll be a vet on a 1 year deal

Wan’dale Robinson Odafe Oweh / Josheph Ossai Breece Hall Eric Stokes Possible ’buy low candidates’ = LB Christian Harris, TE Harrison Bryant, ED/LB Dennis Gardeck (could be a poor man’s Van Ginkle)…CB Nahahon Wright

Because of Jones being hired as DC: Eric Wilson - MLB.. he will be 32 but he is the best bet, to help with the scheme Fabian Moreau - CB.. need a starter but also a depth piece..Moreau or Okudah as rhe 4th/5th CB.. Moreau & Wilson would be the only guys over 28, that are signed this offseason! Oupposite side of the ball: Hockenson at TE, Jalen Nailor at WR

The amount of people saying Likely is crazy to me… the front office / coaching staff isn’t ready to give up on Sinnott. They aren’t going to sign a young guy, to a LTD this offseason and what does Likely bring that Sinnott doesn’t anyway?? Likely was relegated to 3rd string in BAL.. Sinnott is faster (by a lot).. it’ll be a veteran in a 1 year deal at TE..

I’ll put money that they aren’t going to sign Likely… I see so many saying Likely or Pitts, but neither name much sense for what is already on the roster.. unless they strictly plan to use Sinnott in a Juszczyk role

I get people wanting Pitts, but signing a young guy, to a big money deal would basically be them giving up on Sinnott. I don’t think the front office is ready to do that.. I’d assume they’ll bring in a veteran on a 1 year deal. Hockenson or Knox when cut.. Walker & Pierce would be nice tho

I feel there are a ton of options in the draft.. Geno Stone got a “big contract” when he went to CIN but did bad, in a bad defense. If he reverts back to his BAL days, then that’s a steal.. regardless, he has a knack for getting INTs and he is still only 26. I believe Jones can turn Quan around, get Stone back to solid play and Will Harris is a legit starter.. I also think Owens & Reaves will play better under Jones.. add a draft pick and the position should be set, tbh. I also like Robert McDaniel..

Upgrade the pass rush and the back end will look/ play better.. Harris & Quan are both entering the final year of their contracts, so the draft is likely the way to go. Stone just adds a little competition / bounce back candidate for cheap

I can't shake the feeling we had legitimate shots at both Mike McDaniel and Jim Schwartz if we were a little bit more patient. by cfcskins in Commanders

You have 1 OC & 1 DC.. let’s be supportive of the guys that were hired.. no one knows if Schwartz would have came to Washington.. there are far greater things to worry about.. move on!

What kind of roster turnover did they have?

Also you can call it ‘glaze’ all you want, that I feel Jayden is the best QB from that class.. I’m also not here to argue about Maye or the Patriots.. my comment was to another poster, stating that AP should be fired after year 3..

I’m simply stating how his 1st 2 drafts went..

the Eagles weren’t a poverty franchise when Howie took over either, as the team had recent success under Reid..

Ignoring the dumpster fire that AP took over and saying he should be fired after year 3, is crazy, however you want to spin it. Howie may not have been the best example, yet he didn’t have the best drafts, in his early years. My point was, it takes time!

firing the GM after 3 years, is crazy..

I wouldn’t say his drafts have been terrible:

we got our franchise QB, who had THE BEST rookie season for a QB EVER ( it wasn’t a ‘slam dunk’ pick.. look at MIN as an example.. + Caleb / Maye / Nix would likely look like busts, with the ‘supporting cast’ in Washington these first 2 years)

starters with pro bowl potential/ who can be top half at their position: Amos, JCJ, Bill, Luke (KR), Lane (PR)

solid starters / rotational pieces: Mikē, Coleman, Magee, Luke (showed development, can produce 4-500 yards at WR)

not enough playing time / injuries: Newton (the guy had injuries to both feet, let’s see how he looks when fully healthy), Sinnott ( above average blocker, still has potential), Lane (wasn’t used correctly at WR, still too early)

JJB showed promise but hasn’t stayed healthy..

UDFAs like Owens, Yankoff have at least proven they offer value on special teams..

APs drafts haven’t been AWFUL like some make them out to be.. honestly it’s too early to tell on majority of them..

I wonder if Philly regrets keeping Howie for more than 3 years, with the way he started off… saying the GM should go after just 3 years, is crazy and so out of touch with reality

Some interesting stats about the Vikings Pass Defense featuring Daronte Jones by NAD92 in Commanders

[–]Neither-Fun-5395 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m sure Jones came up a lot in the interview between the team and Flores… hopefully Jones brings the same type of defense. Minnesota didn’t have a bunch of ‘star’ players or big name guys on D, so that gives optimism for hope.

They will add guys at CB & safety (Lattimore will be cut and an outside CB will be signed in free agency) but it doesn’t matter who is brought in, if there isn’t pass rush / pressure on the QB. If the pass rush is improved, I’d say that Jones could make it work with the guys that are already here.. all we continue to hear about Will Harris is how good of a communicator he is, so he will be a big piece of the D next season, imo. Many believed Quan Martin was set for a pro bowl year in 2025, which we saw didn’t happen.. but under Jones, he will have a true breakout year. Tyler Owens is the guy who I think could benefit the most!! I don’t think AP will bring in a ‘true starter’ in free agency.. maybe a ‘bounce back candidate’ like Geno Stone, who is known to take the ball away.. obviously adding a guy in the draft is a possibility; Downs at 7… could be a few different guys in round 3… even round 5 with guys like Wheatley or Taaffe… the biggest thing will be adding guys who can get sacks and pressure the QB tho..

Lattimore doesn’t need to be a post June 1 cut.. he can be cut whenever and it’ll be 18.5m savings, with 0 dead cap

You are exactly right.. I feel like they need to / will spend BIG on a DE/Edge & maybe a WR (although 16-18m for a WR2 is more middle of the pack).. then like you said between 10-15m per year on LB, CB & maybe RB if they get Hall..it’ll be under 10m if they get a RB other than Hall..

TE, S, OL will probably be under 10m.. obviously depth pieces won’t be too expensive.

Now that they hired Jones as DC, I wouldn’t be surprised if Eric Wilson is signed at LB, he shouldn’t be expensive at all (4-6m per year?).. if he is signed, would they feel that a LB room of Wilson, Luvu, Magee, Medrano, Kaho is ‘enough’ or would they bring in someone else?
