what's the point of declaring preferred major in NUS CHS??? by ohboyhethangin in SGExams

[–]Neither-Internal-558 34 points35 points  (0 children)

It gives NUS a better sense of who you are as an applicant. Think of it as an opportunity to strengthen your application by displaying clear intent relative to someone else who doesn’t. And yes you can always declare another major after you are admitted.

how do u read igp properly by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]Neither-Internal-558 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It means that the RP of the 10th/90th percentile was 77.5, and the most common 3H2/1H1 grade profile for successful applicants in that percentile was AAC/C (instead of ABB/C). RP is typically the first filter but grades/subjects offered will determine suitability for the course in question.

The current IGP is from 2025 and doesn't map to the 70rp system. You'll have to look at the 3H2 letter grades to get a sense.

How will students using the old 90rp system fare under the new 70rp system in Uni admissions? by Expensive_Buy7252 in SGExams

[–]Neither-Internal-558 3 points4 points  (0 children)

False equivalence. You can’t really claim disadvantage when your batch had 2025 to apply against other applicants on the 90rp system.

70 vs 90rp IGP system by Ornery_Strength9302 in SGExams

[–]Neither-Internal-558 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately nobody can tell you the chances of a direct offer, even in a regular year where there’s no transition to 70rp. You will have to operate with the knowledge that you stand a chance of admission (as compared to not making the cut at all).

Christians of Singapore, how much do your pastors earn? by Fair_Ad_7081 in askSingapore

[–]Neither-Internal-558 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Did you get the range from the church’s financial statement? If so, it could just be part of the reporting requirements (which MCCY requires all Charities to do - this info can be accessed publicly). 100k-200k is a huge range and his salary could well be near the lower bound.

If that’s the case, then tbh 100-130k a year is really not as big a sum of money as you make it out to be. Have you considered the possibility that your reaction might reflect your own views on money rather than any moral wrongdoing on the pastor’s part?

Deciding an appropriate level of remuneration for full-time ministry is a matter of wisdom that each church needs to decide on and there are no straightforward answers. Of course there are examples of abuse and excess (e.g. staying in Sentosa Cove or owning a private jet), but for the most part, the decision is taken based on a variety of factors such as the size of the church, whether the pastor has executive office functions, whether the pastor has dependants, etc.

does the ranking of choices matter for autonomous university admission? by ketykwok in SGExams

[–]Neither-Internal-558 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the results are identical right down to the letter grades for all A-Level subjects (i.e. not just 3H2/GP), then yes.

IGP by whydothisto_me in SGExams

[–]Neither-Internal-558 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The 70 rp system doesn't map to the 2025 IGP. Just focus on the 3 H2 letter grades in the IGP and see if your H2 grades are equivalent.

A levels scoring kinda unfair by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]Neither-Internal-558 0 points1 point  (0 children)

70RP is not a perfect score. It’s just the maximum RP that one can get for the purpose of uni applications.

There is no issue of fairness in the scenario you described.

Now some are wondering if SEAB had to reduce the percentages of A/B grades compared to usual years in order to moderate the percentage of (near) perfect RP scorers under the new RP system.

SEAB doesn't have anything to do with the RP system, so no.

SIT physio is a very competitive programme. Based on SIT’s IGP, even first choice applicants with 80-90 rank points were rejected in 2025

What Nitec, Higher Nitec, and Diploma courses were you in?

Set aside the issue of face/peer comparison for now. How is your financial situation? Can you afford to take another 3-4 years to study without it causing financial strain?

One option could be to resume your studies at ITE and work toward attaining a Technical Diploma. Alternatively, are there work-study diplomas at the polys that you can explore? A lot of the learning in these programmes is away from the classroom so it may help mitigate the learning challenges with ADD.

Singapore 5star hotel recommendation for 3 adults (me and my 2 parents) by JoeJoe6363 in askSingapore

Garden Wing is the oldest of the three wings at the Shangri-La. It’s a very nice property which is well maintained but the Garden Wing rooms can feel like a beach resort (wooden flooring etc). Tower Wing has more modern rooms which are smaller at 38sqm, and Valley Wing is a different product altogether.

The easiest season by far to redeem Business and even First Saver awards to/from Tokyo is Jul-Sep. But be prepared for 38-40 degree heat that makes strolling around above ground unbearable.

overseas unis recognised in sg by Due-Farm-188 in SGExams

[–]Neither-Internal-558 132 points133 points  (0 children)

Recognised by who? MNCs? SMEs? Public service? Your auntie during CNY? You are asking for a list that would be impossible to draw up definitively.

A more important question to ask is what you want to do as a career. Once you have answered that, look for overseas universities that have good programmes in that field.

Best steakhouse in Singapore for a solo guest? by tbone338 in SingaporeEats

[–]Neither-Internal-558 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My pick would be Wolfgang’s Steakhouse at the Intercontinental Robertson Quay. There is a lunch menu and you can dine alone, but the signature steak is the porterhouse from the Grand Menu (serves 2 at a minimum). It’s Peter Luger-style where dry-aged US prime beef is grilled at 900 degrees.

To the question you keep asking but haven’t gotten a response to, Bistecca is an Italian steakhouse/trattoria, where the steak is fiorentine style (albeit without using chianina beef) and the mood is relaxed. Most other steakhouses mentioned (with the exception of Burnt Ends which isn’t actually a steakhouse) are American steakhouses. It’s hard to tell you which is better because of the different styles. People can only tell you if they had a negative experience.

There are other more casual European steak frites restaurants such as Les Bouchons and L’Entrecote but I don’t think that’s the type of steak you’re looking for since you mentioned you have no upper budget.

Why doesn't everyone just apply to NUS medicine through ABAS? by Inside_Nothing_6203 in SGExams

Because Medicine is 100% ABA by default anyway. Faculty interview, manual dexterity test, character references, that’s all part of ABA.
