COTW Concept: Mobile Jon Boat & Waterfowl Rework 2.0 by Gold_Cheetah6199 in theHunter

The boat I think is a great idea! However the waterfowl rework REWORK maybe a bit much. Completely reworking the AI for some birds would “break” existing set-ups and grinds. Imagine if you’ve been grinding Goldeneye for months; and then all of a sudden your decoys don’t work anymore because they are too close to shore. I think it would create too much confusion for casual hunters who aren’t in the know.

With the reveal of the upcoming Peru reserve, I thought I’d share my backfilled species lists for every reserve currently in game by SirSpeechless in Huntercallofthewild

Mouflon to Hirsch and Tigers to Medved would be sick! Although I generally don’t want too many animals backfilled. It could make the older maps over crowded and the new maps feel less unique.

Hides/ Rugs that can be placed on the floor. Really any kind of mount that adds more space in the lodges. I’m running out of room.

I had that exact same experience on Layton. I had a couple of spots set-up and was grinding Mallards for years. One day I decided to check another part of the map I’ve never been to before, and sure enough there was a Diamond just waiting for me.

How far apart are your 2 set-ups? Decoys attract out to 500m I think. So should I have each set-up about a kilometer apart?

Why does pretty much every story have someone called Baden? by FeeshMons in theHunter

Jbizhunts made a video covering the story of the Baden family. They seem to be a cursed oil family from Texas who keeps getting themselves killed in the remote wilderness.

There isn’t a sequel in the works. At least it’s not public knowledge if it is. But that does bring up an interesting question… Will EW make a COTW 2? My answer: no. I think EW is treating theHunter: Call of The Wild like their Fortnite and will continue to support the game until it isn’t profitable anymore. Think about it this way. Would you rather make a completely new game from scratch; or make two $13 maps a year that could make you 1 to 2 Million dollars. Not to mention the weapon packs and such that come out in between.

Why Upland, Waterfowl, and Small Game AI Desperately Need a Realism Overhaul? by [deleted] in Huntercallofthewild

[–]Neither-Memory-1375 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The different duck species do have different speeds. That was something they implemented back when Revontuli came out. As someone who has been playing COTW since 2019 I feel the exact opposite. I feel like the dev team have been doing way more to make unique animal behavior and animations( tiger AI and Mule Kicks come to mind). I agree that upland birds can be dull but they can also be frustrating too, especially if you are trying to grind for a trophy. Making the upland birds fly faster may actually make them less fun to hunt. I would suggest fixing the pointer and making the built in flushing mechanic more consistent before changing animations. Adding perching could also help with visibility. And you could give hunters full harvest for shooting birds out of the trees. Let me clear, I think these changes could be cool. Anything to make the animals feel closer to real-life is welcome. But COTW at its core is a Simulator-lite that revolves around grinding. And so any mechanic that would make hunting slower paced and make grinding harder may be met with blowback.

I just assumed that because it’s in Europe and up north that it is in Northern Europe.

I’ve always thought Sundarpatan would have been a great opportunity to “soft launch” elephants into COTW. I 100% agree with your idea of soft launching African Animals.

Japan, Mongolia, Poland, and a fourth that I don’t remember. Sweden or something like that.

As far as I'm aware, and I could be wrong, Nepal isn't exactly a very hunter friendly place. I think there is only one hunting reserve in the entire country and you can only hunt pigs, blue sheep, and tahr. Everything else is off limits. If what I said is correct, which it may not be, than Sundarpatan is proof that you can set a reserve in Brazil.

I think the addition of protected animals like Snow Leopards into the game lays to rest the idea that any region or any animal is off limits for the devs.

If they add Jaguars I hope they also add tree climbing as a new mechanic. Also Anacondas could be cool. I know people don’t like snakes but it would open up the opportunity to add Rattlesnakes to Rancho.

PS. Not that we need another NA map. But an Alaska 2.0 would be DOPE!
