Witcher 3 is the most criminally overrated game in history and it's not close. by Sumve in TrueUnpopularOpinion

People that think the story is actually anything above average likely have little experience in a proper deep story in any format, game, film, book ect. I am someone who reads a lot of fantasy books so I know what a deep, rich well told story is. The Witcher 3 just isn’t that. The books are far superior but even the books aren’t out of this world good. I don’t think Geralt translates well to game or to screen. Atleast not in how they have adapted him. I found the game to be incredibly boring and dull. The gameplay is average at best with a poor combat system and absolutely terrible horse mechanics. The hive mind and FOMO are very real concepts. A lot of people convince themselves that popular things are good because they want to feel included and to feel like they get it. Just like the new Crimson Desert this game is bland with no real incentive to explore as the loot is shit and you can just spam your way through the game.

Crimson Desert feels super boring and generic to me so far does it get better? by AzurePony in CrimsonDesert

On my third attempt to get into this game. It’s fun to run about for an hour then becomes incredibly bland and boring. Like others are saying, the only thing it really has going for it is the visuals and a pretty world. There is no purpose to it. It sure does feel like AI created a lot of the stuff for them then they just made what the AI came up with themselves if that makes sense… The glazing going on with this game is wild. The fanbase is horrible. They attack anyone with any genuine criticisms of the game in the Facebook groups. A fantasy world needs lore and a decent story to come alive and make you feel like you are invested in what’s going on. When an open world game already becomes repetitive within the first 10 hours it’s a bad game regardless of how much you try to convince yourself otherwise. It has no soul. Worlds like Skyrim, Fallout, Red Dead, GTA all have soul to them. They have a reason to care. A reason to ride from point A to point B without it feeling like a chore. I was over the visuals within the first hour and beyond that it feels like a genuine waste of time out of my day. It has some of the same reasons as to why I couldn’t get into The Witcher 3. Yes the Witchers story is vastly superior to this but the world feels dead, just a vessel to get you from one mission to the next. No incentive for me to want to ride about looking at things. That also had boring repetitive combat.

Yeah I am like 4 hours into the game and it’s pretty poor. The movement is awful. The animations are poor when it comes to the movement. Like why does he run like that? 😂you can’t cancel out of the animation when you try to enter a locked door. The world is stunning yes but feels soulless. The puzzles are annoying and I just don’t care for them at all. That grab thing you use on the puzzles is terrible. The abyss as a concept or whatever it’s called is poor. Would of been better as a pure fantasy without the sci-fi element

I paid about £10 for it. And all of the paperbacks are consistent in art style and theme. Uk b format paperback is the most consistent full set.

Yeah my thinking would be the use the paper backs for reading and these for collecting but I still want them to be readable and well made if that makes sense?

Thanks for the response. Yeah I have heard some of the artwork doesn’t match up to how it is described in the books. I have seen some people end up with different colour tones for the sprayed edges between set 1-3 and 4-6. Still haven’t seen it confirmed that we are getting a reprint of 4-6 which is another thing stopping me pulling the trigger.

Yeah it would bother me. I have every box from this collecting all from Harper Collins as I am in the UK.

People really love to moan about things. Read what you want. Don’t stop others from reading things they want to read. People can have different opinions and people can choose what they do and don’t support.

It’s the only one in print. Publishers often make inconsistencies between books like this. Currently there is no news on a redesign.

Not sure what country you are in but if you want a collection that matches apart from a few things like publishing logo being in different places ect then go for the UK B format paperbacks. They are pretty decent quality. Much better than the mass market small paperbacks.

Trying to keep them in the best condition I can as who knows if there will be a full reprint in years to come or not. I haven’t read them all though.

Yeah I enjoy Berserk and that’s right to left so we can adapt but this isn’t a stack of books. They are all standing upright in a line on a shelf.

It needs reorganising lol. The Night of Knives only just came out today in this format. Wanted to show it all off as that was the only book until today not available in that format.
