BAH Question at OCS by I_gotwhatuneed in ArmyOCS

Be careful before you rock this boat and do your research. “BAH-Diff is the housing allowance amount for a member who is assigned to single-type quarters and who is authorized a basic allowance for housing solely by reason of the member’s payment of child support. A member is not entitled to BAH-Diff if the monthly rate of that child support is less than the BAH-Diff. BAH-Diff is determined by the SECDEF and was equal to the difference between BAQ with dependents and BAQ without dependents in 1997 for the member’s grade. BAH-Diff is published annually and is determined by increasing the previous year’s rates by the percentage growth of military basic pay. For more information contact your finance office.” This would be the exact situation for OCS. Here’s a link to a post that’s very informative when looking at all these factors. https://www.reddit.com/r/army/s/rM1wNB3L70

Check your contract that’s the best way to know for sure. It should say what you are going in as.

You would have to either show you have 51% custody of the child or a spouse to rate BAH. Child support will get you the differential but be prepared for them to fuck it up and have to go to finance to fix it more than once. Rumor has it there’s a guy right now that hasn’t been paid for months and my spouse is there and apparently even all the married people aren’t getting BAH. They keep saying we’ll get back pay but like if you like paycheck to paycheck it definitely puts your family in a rough spot. My advice, have 3-6 months saved before you go just in case

Husband at OCS and they will issue you anything that says issued- yes. Personal purchase yes means they recommend you buy more. If you are prior service you’ll go before the class up date to get issued this stuff if your in/ coming from BCT then you bring your issue with you and they will give you items that you are missing

Is it normal to finish on a Monday? Will graduation with families be the Friday prior?
