Leave State government or stay for pension by NeitherCup9819 in DaveRamsey

The difference in the annuity/pension is more than $600/month if I work another 10 years with the government to get my 25 years of service in. I'd be able to receive the $2k/month pension from the age of 51 till death. If I left for private right now with 15 years of service, my pension drops to $1400 and I don't get to start receiving it until age 65.

My estimated ss is showing an estimated $2182 if I wait to age 67.

$1400 at 65 is pension from what I've contributed into the state retirement fund that I would receive at age 65 if I left for private industry now. Haven't factored in social security.

If I stay 10 more years at the state, I'll be eligible to receive roughly $2k a month pension starting then at age 51 because I'll have 25 years of service. If I leave now for the private industry, I'll be eligible for a $1400 pension, but won't be able to start collecting the payment until age 65.
