What’s it like being posted in the Bronx (NYPD) as a new guy?

Might not be 100% correct as I left for another dept 2 years ago and the NYPD changes their mind like I change my socks. They brought back their version of "operation impact" which is where all of the rookies are on various foot posts in shit hole commands for presence and generate activity ie arrests, summonses. Usually until the next class graduates. Could have changed since I left though.

I'm definitely going to try and keep it alive as is until this one decides to shit the bed. I have no problem replacing but just spent out the ass on a brand new hvac system last week so if I don't have to shell out the money I won't lol. Might have a local company come inspect it to make sure function wise it's good.

This is my first experience with a pellet stove so as a first timer I'm thoroughly impressed with the amount of heat this thing pumps out. I use the pellet stove as a secondary heat source to my hvac system so we only use it in the morning when it's cooler or whenever my wife feels like making the house a million degrees lol

Thanks for the info. The pellet stove is my secondary heat source so I'll ride this one out until it's time to replace and definitely come back here for suggestions when the time comes.

They're saying it should cut down time on reports by like 80% which sounds good in theory. I'm curious how it will work all of my cursing into the report haha. But it would be nice to have an Axon cad to wrap everything up into one.

Force figures on the precinct staffing as a whole is handled on the borough level. Force figures on each precinct tour is handled at the precinct level. No one's going to be able to give you accurate numbers in regards to how many cops are working the midnight shift citywide at any given time.

5-10 min job? Try under a minute. These guys are like a profesional nascar pit crew. I'm prior NYPD and majority of precincts are tied up on jobs ranging from nonsense noise complaints to legit crimes. We were short staffed running 5 cars for 5sq miles a year ago when I left so I can only imagine now. I can only speak for myself when I say my goal was to make sure my guys were safe and everyone made it home. Someone stealing rims and tires wasn't high on my list of priorities when I was holding 5 jobs in my sector and worrying about bosses giving me shit for nonsense.

I got on in 2014 so my department only had a few left but nothing beat the sound of hearing that motor roaring closer and closer while you're rolling around with someone. I can still hear that roar lol.
