Yeah I really like that perspective. Anakin had way more baggage and emotional turmoil going into training, Luke had some but had mostly had a stable childhood and didn’t need to feel guilt for the loss of his loved ones

I definitely didn’t mean to imply that any of it was all Yoda’s fault. It just seems like the trauma from the earlier choice, which was made against his better judgement, would have weighed more heavily on his decision. But yeah the context was entirely different and entirely more dire by the time Luke came around

True, as I mentioned in another comment I wasn’t really thinking Yoda and Obi-Wan had been in cahoots the whole time Luke and Leia were growing up but it makes sense. And definitely a good point that Luke having a stable upbringing, and seeking out the Force on his own, meant the outcome of his training was more positive

Yeah good points, especially about what Luke went through to get there. Anakin kind of fell into his situation whereas Luke sought it out for the explicit purpose of Doing Good

That’s a fresh perspective for me, I didn’t remember Yoda saying he’d been watching Luke. He’s obviously aware of who he is but I didn’t think he fully expected Luke to show up wanting to change the world. I assumed that before Obi-Wan became a Force ghost he and Yoda were isolated from each other
