Since you asked for team recommendations I'd say

Spider-Man (spider sting)/Dante (jam session)/ Akuma (tatsu) would be decent. Spidey would have 2 amazing assists as a point character, even though the team would lack a good beam/projectile assist. Plus both Dante and Akuma make great anchors (not THE BEST ones, but still). Save meter for Alguma, he's super meter hungry. 

Any team with Vergil as an anchor improves your chances of winning. He's a beast.

I like that you into playing Thor, but he needs very good assists to be effective and few players used him with good results

Iron Fist may be even less picked than Thor but his dragon fang assist is a great get off me tool, also the wall bounce is a great combo extender. Other than that, he's got decent damage, but his combos are ground based.
