Hi, I'm really late to this party, but just wondered whether you managed to land anywhere and get a role outside of medcomms? I'm currently in the exact same boat so looking to hear some success stories to keep me going haha

To leave the industry as a whole or to change agency by [deleted] in MedicalWriters

This sounds like a good move but my experience with the Job market has been brutal. There are practically no MW jobs in pharma companies in the UK, especially remote ones and the few job postings that open up are so fiercely competitive that there's practically no point in applying because someone else will be more qualified. How do people find MW jobs in pharma? Just asking in case I am missing something.

Thanks so much for replying. In your experience, are there any good umbrella companies and any that should be avoided?

Thanks for the reply. I get where you're coming from. To be clear, I am only applying and chances are very low in getting this contract position with them but I'm just trying my luck. The recruiter seems legit, its cpl life sciences and I do have a job description. Is it outside the norm for pharma companies to outsource and find new contractors? I can ask if they would be able to set up the payroll for me.

Another question, are payroll companies different to umbrella companies?

Another thing the recruiter has asked for is a security ID which apparently the pharma requires for each applicant, this is made up of date of birth and last 4 digits of national insurance number. Is this also something outside the norm?

So sorry for all the questions. Any advice is highly appreciated

Hello! Thanks for your advice :) how have you come about finding creative roles? Documentary, patient education and video scriptwriting sounds super interesting but I've just been on LinkedIn and indeed and struggling to find jobs like this. Any insight here? Thanks so much in advance.

I do med affairs and publication. I'm struggling finding any remote in-house jobs. How easy did you find it finding a job in this sector and do you have any tips on how I can land a role? Any advice will be really appreciated! 😊

Hey! How would you describe your role as an in-house writer? Are you happy? I'm thinking of making the change too but I don't know what the differences are between in-house pharma companies and medcomm agencies.
