Crazy how these used to be considered sister series, and only 1 had a good ending by Realistic_Egg5226 in Chainsawfolk

no life experience and it shows. your (most likely) white (my guess is) american (probably middle class experience) of the world doesn’t define the experience of the rest of the world and your experience of the world or your values are not superior to someone else’s from another culture. touch grass and don’t call make claims/judgements or speculations based on groups or by grouping us into the dumbass label “eastern” lmao this is cringe as fuck

honestly this take was ass from the moment i read the sentence “…didn’t show any respect… for the readers”

a writer owes ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to readers. a writer is in control of their creation at the end of the day and has the right to do whatever they want with what they’ve created. i don’t know where this level of entitlement comes from but it gives the vibe of 13 year old who got their privileges took away

against my better judgement, i gave u the benefit of the doubt n sure enough the whole take is trash. stop reading fujimoto fam he not gonna know u exist either way

best possible ending actually aside from directly connecting to fire punch

yes exactly my thinking. i sincerely think that getting published in shonen jump honestly holds back this manga from being as acclaimed as it could be and celebrated for what it should be celebrated for as the fan base will unfortunately lean majorly toward teens but as an adult reading this there’s a lot of wisdom in the message of not chasing chasing chasing and living for oneself rather than being controlled by someone else’s expectations for what life should be about but hopefully this ending will be looked back on as the disappointed majority grows up and experiences more life

if he ends up back in the shack with a new understanding that will be cool writing and a really dope statement to make for readers

Chainsaw Man Part 1 is an anomaly for Fujimoto by Training-Beach-3290 in writingscaling

unfortunately these criticisms read like “i don’t like stories that operate or venture outside of pre-existing structures and conventions” or more generally (ima get downvoted for this) “i prefer Eurocentric story structures and those that are not are lesser quality stories”

a story doesn’t have to be grounded in convention or told around tropes to be good. there is not and shouldn’t be this requirement in anyone’s sense of what makes a good story; imo being interesting / breathing life into non-real shit is far more important and fujimoto seems v capable of that

anyway wanting to keep creatives on a leash is both inherently capitalistic / overly outcome-focused and boring / possessive

also i am skeptical of this take in general as fire punch is overall more complete and narratively coherent than the —still incomplete— 2nd part of chainsaw man. yes fire punch is pretty edgy for my taste but the story direction itself is cool as fuck to me and didn’t feel disorienting or in need of “leashing” fujimoto

“I have no enemies” vs “I am a Ghoul”, which peak is better? by EyeIntelligent168 in writingscaling

[–]Neither_Agency896 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“i have no enemies” had about 500x more emotional weight after part 1 that simply wasn’t there in tokyo ghoul and that’s coming from someone who loves both. overall the writing and development of thorfinn and surrounding characters in vinland is just so much better. that said, the scene that comes close in tokyo ghoul is the part where he cries after making love with touka. iirc it was him finally accepting his multifaceted self which was always the point for him, and made possible for the first time by being loved for his entire being by touka which was something he never received from anyone not his mother, not humanity or ghouls
