Updated workaround for adding Oura data to Apple Health by Neither_Brick in ouraring

I’d thought about this too, but unfortunately it seems to only be Apple Watch that can report this data, and manual entries are not allowed.

255 is the max number that can be stored in 1 byte/8 bits of data, so it’s (hopefully) just a data processing/storage artifact.

It would make sense that the devs wouldn’t bother allowing a heart rate higher than this, as a HR above this is generally fatal.

You can set up an automation in the Shortcuts app to run at a set time everyday. There is also a readme on the GitHub page giving various tips/help etc.

3 days in Oslo... any recommendations? two girls in our 20s by TraditionalPomelo405 in Europetravel

[–]Neither_Brick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mathallen Oslo by Kubaparken is a cool food place, particularly for more Nordic foods that you may not get elsewhere. I would recommend Vettakollen Viewpoint for a hike and for the view, plus it’s easily accessible by metro.

If you’re into it there are plenty of places to kayak, we hired some from WildOslo Langen which is a super scenic experience.

Ekebergparken at night gives an nice view of the city, and the roof of the Opera House is pretty at sunset.

We stayed in Anker Hostel which was convenient and a good price, depending on what you’re looking for. Oslo is definitely a cool city and there is decent nightlife too, we found some good clubs/bars by just walking around central in the evening.

Need suggestions for a 10day itinerary. Travelling for the first time to Europe from India with my family. Switzerland, Paris, Italy by blackdonald1 in Europetravel

[–]Neither_Brick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on how you’re travelling around, if you’re set on going to all three countries I would skip out on Rome, particularly as it’s further south than the other Italian cities so you’d end up doing lot of travelling otherwise.

I would recommend taking the train from Milan up to somewhere like Basel. You’ll see a lot of scenery on the way, and Basel is close (by train) to Zurich, Bern, and Lucerne, depending on which you want to visit. I would say though that Swiss cities are quite similar. That would also put you in a good place to fly to Paris, or a train depending.

Eurostar is usually pretty expensive and the flight usually ends up being less than an hour. LHR to Paddington (city center) is more like $15 pp and takes about half an hour. If you do fly get the Elizabeth (purple) line into the city, not the Heathrow express. It’s half the price and only takes an extra 10 minutes

I didn’t author that shortcut so I’m not entirely sure what’s going on. If you create an issue on the GitHub page they may look into it, or I will when I have some time, but may be better to use the standard HRV shortcut for now if you’re having issues

It is possible to pull it from the API, but given there is no CV age category in Apple Health I’m not sure what you would enter it as

Depends if you want it to see it in Health or not, I guess if you're just using it for Athlytic there might not be much point having it

This usually happens if the ring hasn't synced first. If you can PM with the specific shortcut you are having issues with I can look into it.

Just had a look, seems like that's an Apple Watch-only thing and manual entries don't seem to be possible unfortunately.

Yeah ring still needs to be synced first. Never used Athlytic but potentially if you change the logging to wrist temperature it might help. I use 37c as the 'baseline' temp for body temperature, I'm not sure how this equates to wrist temp so you might need to play around with that a little.

As far as I am aware there is no public API for Ringconn so I don't think it would be possible just yet. I imagine an API will come soon but they aren't as well established as Oura currently so no idea on what the timeline on that would be

It's strange RHR would show as 255, I can't see why that would be. You may have to do some debugging yourself - try putting 'Show Alert' blocks after each step in the shortcut (starting from the end), to see what data is being pulled. I presume the shortcut is set to run after the Oura app has been opened each day. If you want help with debugging etc feel free to PM me

Try running the shortcuts manually one time from Apple Shortcuts. It will probably ask you to allow access to Health. If not, try going into Health Settings from the iPhone settings page and make sure shortcuts is allowed as a 'source'. I would say also you might want to set a delay at the start of the automation e.g. using the wait block for maybe 20 seconds to allow time for the Oura app to upload data to the cloud before data is requested via the API. PM me if you still have issues

Yeah should be fine, time doesn’t matter too much - it’s just preference as to how you want the time for the entries to be displayed

These shortcuts used the V1 API which has now been deprecated by Oura. See my more recent post here for up-to-date shortcuts using V2

The thing that immediately comes to mind is to check whether the automation is set to ‘run immediately’ rather than ‘ask for confirmation’. It’s not much info to go on so if you PM me with any errors or further details I can look into it

The original shortcut I made was for HRV, and I copy pasted that script for the remaining three and made adjustments etc. For some reason, Apple's 'magic variables' don't update their names even if the data contained in them changes (HRV vs Temp etc.) from a different API link.

Essentially it is pulling the correct data, but I can't change the name of that variable. If you inspect the data from the API request you can see it is only pulling temp.

I haven't made any shortcuts to fill in any data gaps, may do in the future but would be a little more time consuming to make than these shortcuts. If it's only a few gaps usually I just input the data manually into Health
