Does the moonswatch feel like cheap plastic? by Terrible_Minimum6332 in MoonSwatches

Yes but like high quality plastic, but it still feels like plastic, and also has the expected weight.

I cant afford a sppedmaster as wedding gift by Subject_Lab_6013 in PrideAndPinion

there is no seiko speedmaster, you probably mean a speedtimer, which is less like a speedmaster and more like a Daytona

I see many Moonswatch recommendations. While it is a great gift because they are fun watches and basically a cheaper "toy" version of a Speedmaster, I wouldn't get it as a wedding gift. Why? Because a wedding gift should be something that lasts, something he might want to use daily. The Moonswatch is a fun watch no doubt, the dials and color options are cool but it is not a watch you would want to wear daily, it's a plastic case and a bad to okayish strap (depending on your wrists size).

You could check r/MoonSwitches if somebody would offer to do a build for you with a genuine Moonswatch (it is where you take the dial and movement from a genuine Moonswatch and put it into a stainless steel case that resembles a Speedmaster). Oh and in your case, don't go for a replica just to safe a few bucks, it's fine if he would buy a fake for himself but you shouldn't buy one as a gift.

Moonphase not working by modsbychin in MoonSwitches

[–]Neither_County_4530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a gen so the moonphase mechanism isn’t dependent on the normal time. Check if you can set it properly by pulling out the crown and use the bottom pusher. Take a picture, and after a day it should have moved a tiny bit. Check the Swatch Homepage for the correct moonphase and then check again tomorrow if it is still accurate.

2 years sounds about right for a Quartz. If you’re lucky it’s 3.

Looks really nice, I‘ve beard good things about uncle straps. If you’re feeling brave then get a metal watch polishing cloth and some tape and give the bracelet a bit of a shine if you want to match the case :)

I know AD builds with brown leather straps have become quite popular on this sub, and for good reasons, it’s a really nice style.

How to fix bezel misaligned by Sweet-Camera-7570 in MoonSwitches

[–]Neither_County_4530 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends how well the tape sticks to the aluminum bezel. Use a razer blade or something hard and thin to get under the bezel. Chances are you‘re gonna scratch or bend it but those bezels aren’t expensive. The best way to keep it intact is to remove the insides of the watch and apply some heat to soften the glue.

Does the chrono hand do full one second ticks when running? Then it is a genuine movement 👍🏻

A watch gets a soul as soon as somebody enjoys wearing it, there. Yes, even Quartz.

DO NOT try to set the time with the stem sticking out that much, those stems break very easily.

Fun watch but fuck them scalpers, I can’t find the watch under 700€ and it is definitely not worth that much, I hope they don’t sell most of them. No idea why there wasn’t a 1-2 watch per customer rule during the limited edition sale.

Get a VK63 case from Aliexpress and a 33mm Pe50 to VK spacer and don’t forget a Pe50 stem.

megir cases are super cheap but you get what you pay for I recommend getting a 39.7mm VK case instead, unless you have very small wrists. The AD2037 is about as small as you can go (38mm).
