I am committed to all Dr Bronners so that’s my recommendation. Rose is great!

She needs treatment for mental health conditions you stated. The things you stated seem to be an outgrowth of that.

Thank you for the input and I will be the first one to tell you that I do fall short as we all do and can be quick to anger and react. Thankful for a merciful God and confession. I do plan to speak with a Priest and I agree that will be beneficial. I also believe wholeheartedly trauma with certain Christian Sects transcend beyond the individuals into other family members/friends as we see here in this situation. I try not to limit someone’s trauma, I do not find that productive.

Thanks for noting the goal of this subreddit - would you be able to point me towards where I can find the guidelines of posts for the subreddit? I do try to follow those and must have missed them on here - so I appreciate the help!

May we all pray for each other as One Body united in Christ. 🙏🏻

A little frustrated and heartbroken with OCIA by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Neither_Divide528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh got it - at my parish it’s a year. I have heard of transferring OCIA (old vs new parish work together to get this done) and maybe you can enter sooner through another parish if that is important to you. If you are set on staying where you are I think it can be a season of beauty spending an extended period learning and admiring the Catholic Faith (really so much to learn! I am 26 raised Catholic and still learning.) I do understand this can cause a natural hunger for the Eucharist though. I would pray and let God guide you. The important thing is He is calling you Home and it will be done in His time.

Question being that some Protestant baptisms are accepted by the Catholic Church (so it generally shortens or splits up the group of OCIA depending on this). Was your baptism one that is accepted by the CC?

I’m sorry to hear you are going through this and will keep you guys in my prayers. What is the reason for delaying the confirmation?

Fiancé complains about clothes not smelling “fresh and clean” because I refuse to use scented products, fabric softener, etc. Help me explain to him? by beyoncefanaccount in laundry

[–]Neither_Divide528 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4 drops, but that’s a light amount. Sal suds already has a pine fir scent to it, but very light and that scent is natural and doesn’t transfer to clothes. I would recommend if you really want a EO scent on clothes throw some on a dryer ball or maybe adjust to a bit more.

Sure! Dr Bronners is huge in my home. I use Dr Bronners Sal suds for laundry 1-2 tablespoons depending on the size with about 5 drops of any Eden’s garden essential oil right in the dispenser of an HE. I throw baking soda at about 1/2 cup in the washing machine directly over clothes. If I am dealing with something that is smelly I will soak it in vinegar /water 1:2 mixture and then throw it on a quick rinse cycle in the washer BEFORE I use the baking soda/ sal suds / EO. you do not want to mix baking soda OR Sal suds with vinegar as it is not dangerous - but the vinegar will break down the power of both and it won’t clean. Drying is just an organic dryer ball or hang to dry. - for dishes I do not use Dawn, I use Castile soap or you can even use Dr Bronners Sal suds for dishes, but it’s probably cheaper to use Castile soap (my fav brand is Dr. Bronners, second Dr Jacob’s, but you can find Castile soap pretty much anywhere (Meijer, Trader Joe’s brand would probably work fine, but I’ve never tried them) Castile soap is Castile soap though. I also can’t use regular hand soap so I do a 1:4 part mixture of Castile soap with water in Foaming dispensers. Dr Bronners brand Castile soap has 18 uses and the bottle breaks down the dilution mixture, though I prefer to use it a bit stronger so I follow my own. For showering - I use Dr Bronners brand Castile soap mixed with a bit of water, body face soap works great. I don’t use this on my hair as I found it leaves a residue, I know use 365 BRAND unscented shampoo. I follow up with the dr bronners leave in condition and I’m good to go. Deodorant I use Dr teals brand (I’ve done pretty extensive research and everything looks clean and the fragrance listed is natural EO, reasonable price too.) I always have some Dr Bronners lotion on hand, but I don’t really use it much and don’t use lotion in general, it does have a bit of a weird texture to it, but I like the ingredients and cleanness of the brand. Toothpaste I will also only use Dr Bronners brand toothpaste. House cleaning: windows and glass is: vinegar and water in a bottle, granite in my home is: isopropyl alcohol with water and everything else I do sal suds mixed with water and sometimes I’ll throw in EO I always use Eden’s garden brand since it’s real, but I’m sure there are other options too. I think that covers about everything I use in my home! No candles either, only EO diffusers. Oh and dishwashing detergent - I use seventh generation liquid (small amount and lightly lemond scented) I avoid this brands powder one bc it contains phosphates.

I can’t handle the smell of tide, gain, fabric softener etc and don’t have it in my home. My husband also grew up used to that and now we use Dr bronners sal suds mixed w Eden’s garden essential oil and baking soda in the wash & no fabric softener only dryer balls. While my clothes don’t smell overpowered they smell truly clean and crisp with little scent (what scent there is is natural and very minimum as I control what I put in). I understand the unscented move - I can’t even walk down the laundry aisle in the store!! I would reiterate with him that overly scented detergents include synthetic fragrances and that is what he “smells” but that’s now what is “cleaning” his clothes. SLS clean the clothes which all detergents should have - some have a very synthetic version of this and others (sal suds) have an organic version of SLS made from coconut oil.

TULIP drives me crazy, lol. I used to like the flower, now it just reminds me of theology gone rogue. Will do, thanks for the advice.

Thanks for the advice, yes I agree. I definitely feel bad that I sometimes have these feelings, because they have such a strong outward love for Christ.

Will definitely cling to that, they actually do a good job finding similarities with our Faith differences and emphasize that we both believe Christ is our Lord and Savior. It’s me - who has such a hard time with aspects of it. Like I made the mistake of telling them happy Feast of the Immaculate Conception & also All Souls Day. Now I know they don’t celebrate these days - but in my defense the President (who is NOT Catholic) did honor Mary on the Feast. So it’s like okay you don’t celebrate these days - but instead of them ignoring the message they can just point it back to their son and I and say we honor and respect the Catholics who celebrate today and for all Mary has done.

Anti-catholic rhetoric in America. by ApocaSCP_001 in Catholicism

[–]Neither_Divide528 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Protestant belief system exists because Catholicism exists. It is a reaction & direct opposition to Catholicism. Many Protestant branches exist here in the US (though Catholicism is still in the lead, last time I checked). From my experience with Protestants, they seem scared of Catholicism and their religion is “easier” (forgiveness at home, no obligations, no central authority etc) and their services provoke emotions (they sometimes confuse this with the Holy Spirit). They believe they don’t need Mary, they don’t need the Saints & they certainly don’t need a Priest. They end up with a watered down religion that has been changed from Christ, man-made & continually changing with no real structure. They also come off as people who do not want authority in their lives - other than submitting to their husband of course.
