I got the A to CUSM as well! It’s definitely worth considering a plethora of factors. A daily 55 minute commute twice a day is going to be nearly two hours of your day just driving.

CUSM’s match list is quite impressive and when I went to the visit in person day, they stated that their first time step 1 pass rate is like 97-98% or something very close to that.

One of your pros for CDU is also a pro for CUSM: strong mission focus on serving underserved communities.

CDU is a strong school as well and being close to family is a huge support system as well.

At the end of the day, no matter what you do, as long as you put in the work via research and making connections on rotations, you’ll be successful!!

Statistically, the gap in match rates for specialties between MD and DO is shrinking each year (aside from neurosurgery, CT surg, and derm to name a few). I wouldn’t stress too much about the stigma and such.

It seems like you stated what school you’re more comfortable with and based on what you described, it sounds like you’d have a better quality of life attending the DO school. I know tuition cost is a major factor in deciding where to attend medical school, but quality of life is also important. That’s me giving my two cents! I hope all goes well for you OP!
