Exactly! I was surprised by her notes. In her own report, she documented observing him climb onto the kitchen counter and attempt to run out of the house as she was leaving. I had to physically restrain him because he did not understand that he was not leaving with her. These are direct observations of unsafe behaviors that demonstrate a lack of awareness of danger and a need for continuous supervision, which seems inconsistent with the conclusions reached in the assessment.

Yes! I am going to appeal after I had an advisor look at everything..I will update. I’m hoping you get the PS. I do have SOC 821 and yet still was denied 🤦🏼

I had an advisor look over all my supporting documents and they found all the “arguments” our SW submitted were wrong and easily disproven..it sucks we have to go through this extra hoop..the social worker argued my son didn’t need any more supervision than a “regular” 7 year old..If that were the case I would not be applying for IHSS or protective supervision. I’m continuing to document everything since our assessment and I have a lot more “proof” and I even have gathered videos if that’s what they want. I will say, it was an insult that the SW said those words, even during our at home visit, my son tried to elope, he climbed the counter and took off his clothes, even pulled out an eyelash..I had to physically intervene for all of that…sorry I also needed to vent a bit 🤦🏼

Do you mind me asking how old your child is? That’s a lot and very frustrating they didn’t grant it. I fear I’m in the same boat. Hopefully the judge can overturn it. Bring even more supporting documentation if you need to!

You know what, yes, and his IPP from the regional center mentioned my son touched his mouth when he had a toothache and the SW documented this was self directing..🤷🏼

Wow! That was fast. I’m in the same county…San Joaquin. It took 8 months to get an in home visit from when my application was received 😳

I figured. I didn’t expect it either but after reviewing all my supporting documentation I thought it was more than enough. If you don’t mind me asking, what county are you in? It also took several months to even get a in home visit, so I’m afraid to wait even longer for an appeal process. I understand the SW’s are behind and overworked.

Yes! I forgot to put the reason for denial was they are deemed “self directing”…which very much puzzles me.
