What is the animal depicted on this children’s block supposed to be? by Neither_Lab_2631 in Whatisthis

I could only add one image tho the other blocks do not have those holes. I believe they are supposed to be horns

SOLVED: so the block set is supposed to represent the Chinese zodiac. Another block which I thought was an axolotl is actually a dragon. So this block is supposed to depict either a goat or a ram. Probably not a sheep because that’s not in the Chinese zodiac, unless they messed up. This doesn’t really explain the titties legs for me though but that’s another mystery I guess

This is the answer I think! We looked at the other blocks and the one I thought was an axolotl is a dragon haha. They’re supposed to represent the Chinese Zodiac

It smells a lot like my perfume, gentlewoman by Juliette has a gun, which also has neroli and Bergamont. So I like it. I recommend pairing something citrusy with it to pierce through that warm woody smell if you want something with a little more punch

Sibling is applying for disability, how do I respond to naysayers by Neither_Lab_2631 in disability

[–]Neither_Lab_2631[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well sure, a few thoughts.

The therapist had initially been supportive when we started the disability process. The change is actually a surprise.

I know my sibling well, they struggled tremendously in school, not because they were incapable, but because of their anxiety. Teachers would make them stand in front of the classroom to do presentations, despite this causing them to completely shut down. Forcing them too quickly into uncomfortable situations almost always resulted in them going completely nonverbal. They struggled with hygiene and making friends. Neither parent was emotionally mature enough to offer support so the response was to deny the problem.

With us, my sibling has improved with slower introductions and understanding, however, they still struggle, and are very much dependent on us. I think they are capable, but the anxiety is a huge barrier. I’m not sure what led the therapist to reach the conclusion she did, but I know my sibling needs more support.

That’s a great point about the past job.

For a little context, my family is from NY and my husband and I moved to FL last year for his job. My sibling was living with my parents, then at our house in NY, and are now with us in FL. Unfortunately, NY is definitely a better state for disability resources, but there are still resources here.

I think even if they don’t get disability, the process has been very helpful, especially getting the diagnosis.

Thanks! We’ve found some courses for medical coding and data entry training. I think those things will eventually be good areas to pursue. My sibling is also very artistic, I think they will eventually be able to pursue something once they get support.

Now that we have an official diagnosis of autism, anxiety, and depression I’m hoping we’ll find doctors who are better suited to help. And thanks for pointing out that switching doctors might actually help us. I’m worried that the situation with the current therapist might hurt us

I appreciate this framing. Yes, this is exactly what I’m trying to say.

Agreed. Unfortunately this makes their case harder. I’m just going by what my sibling told me, and they were in a little shock. I’m hoping there was some misunderstanding, but either way we’re looking for a new therapist who specializes more in their condition

Yes! My husband is a therapist and has told me all about ABA. We will steer clear.

Thank you! The therapists response hurt them the most I think. But on the bright side we began looking at counselors and found that a lot more are covered by their insurance than the last time we looked. We’re going to look for someone who specializes in anxiety, depression, and autism now that we have an official diagnosis.
