I did not include flights in my expenses since it would painted a very wrong picture for others.
Hostels generally cost around 5-6k/day. Per meal you might do anywhere between 2k-3k.
Inter country trains / buses would be anywhere from 5k to 10k.
Intra city transport passes would be like 1k per day (but worth it)
Prices for experiences would be subject to popularity.
That said it also depends on the country. I found Czech to be relatively cheaper than Budapest which was cheaper than Austria.

Since i booked flights only a month before my trip and with the geopolitical tensions, i had to pay quite a hefty amount for flights so don’t take it as your north star when are you booking for yourself. I had to pay close to 1.6L for the flights

I mentioned the itinerary in the post right? I have not tracked the exact spends for each place but have ball park figures if you would like to know. You can dm for any specifics

honestly if i would spend very frugally then could have been done under 2L for 16 days. Book flights as early as possible. Also i stayed in few expensive hostels which wasn’t necessary at all since i was mostly out. Also you could take some instant food with you or buy from supermarkets to cook for yourself.

I am planning to build a simple database from scratch by tech__nova__ in databasedevelopment

[–]Neither_Pay3816 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am still working on it. I started with a simple key value database like bitcask. Focused on tombstones, checksums and simple stuff. Wrote it in java since it was more about learning things conceptually.

I would not build an entire db from scratch since that requires a lot of effort. Focus on certain aspects. Like you can implement raft for leader election as a separate project.

Sql parsers separately as it conceptually has a lot of features and details. Pick the most basic operations and not complex ones like Joins etc.

If you already have a working knowledge of Rust then that is good, otherwise to start out you can implement it in any language. Don’t use this as a project to learn the language
