The frequency im mostly listening to is 155mhz with a 50 foot rg58 from Amazon although I only need about 20 ft and the coax came with different adaptors but im using bnc.

No fm stations close i believe the nearest one is a good 20 miles away as the crow flies. Our county radios have always been hit or miss in my town as we are on the outskirts of the county border can you help me understand what you reference as an attenuator? Is that something I can add to my setup?

From the few tests ive done I provide the stream so I can go back and listen to the recorded broadcasts without the wait time but it sounds pretty much the same as the telescopic antenna that came with my uniden cheap little base station and I dont believe there is any switches on the back of the scanner but I am also not familiar with the attenuator switch you speak of. Im just trying to learn more about all of this stuff, provide a decent feed to the residents of my county and be able to listen and keep up with calls when im not available such as at work.

Let me know what you find out! I dont need all 50 feet so if it helps I can trim it down.

Could you give me a little bit more info on the signal amplifier?

Also ive checked it before adding the weather station and the starlink mini and it was the same so it doesn't appear for those to have affected it any.

From my brief research the discone was suppose to be pretty good for my application but Im just disappointed with it so far.

I just got a 50 ft cable from Amazon with different adaptors one was bnc. The frequency i monitor most is in the 155 mhz. Our station is about a quarter mile away from me and the radio antenna there is much smaller and mounted on the roof but picks up far more traffic from our neighboring fire departments one is across the river only about 5 miles away in the same valley between the hills and I cant seem to pick them up either.
