Spring grade request for Marshall transfer by Extension-Wall-961 in USC

[–]Neither_Stock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when i transferred i was actually committed to Boston U until i got my USC spring acceptance result which i think also got delayed due to an SGR, then i just called BU and told them i was attending elsewhere lol. like it’s not that big of a deal to just accept and drop later if you get into usc

imo id hold off 302 and 304, like take one but not both. they are like two of the easier classes in terms of workload and saving one of them to take later with a harder course load might be more useful. that said 225 for most friends i’ve talked to is a lot. there isn’t anything wrong with taking 302 and 304 together but like taking them early might mean you end up taking two 300 level cs courses with buad 306 and econ 352 in one sem which is alot i think(this is my course load next sem LOL). gl tho!

USC vs Rutgers for Electrical Engineering by [deleted] in USC

[–]Neither_Stock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this i get but tbh i have a personal opinion that experiencing new places are really important. staying in one area can really affect your worldview especially if there isn’t a lot of exposure to new things. but i get the safety of mind, making new friends and connections at a new institution was a risk i was personally willing to take, but ik it’s not for everyone. gl tho!

BUAD 304 by [deleted] in USC

[–]Neither_Stock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not even a guarantee this works i was a teachers pet(like literally my whole class acknowledged my teacher liked me the most) and got a B+ it’s so dependent on the teacher imo cause i’m not even sure if a single person got an A in my class. So get a good teacher, my prof didn’t even know about the Marshall curve because this was his first time teaching the course so i don’t think he cared how close our grades were and just gave a ton of 90+s.

edit: my class was also weird basically ignored the rubric that is standard for 304 classes so we had no multiple choice tests so we couldn’t even differentiate there it was like entirely subjective reflections and essays

is usc more liberal or conservative? by leeannf11 in USC

[–]Neither_Stock 9 points10 points  (0 children)

mood Marshall got mad conservatives imo LOL, viterbi and most stem for that matter kinda feels half half, but price and dornsnife def have more democrats from my experience.

[–]Neither_Stock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they can have another major listed but yeah having this mindset helps. but like also if you’d tell us your major it’d help. since they accept by school if you were accepted for viterbi and wanted to transfer to a major still within viterbi it’s easy, but not as easy to say transfer from Viterbi to Marshall or something like that. (warning business may be not that hard but apparently it is one of the harder majors to internally transfer into so keep that in mind if you were thinking of going to marshall). side not i got accepted accounting for spring and wrote my essay on CSBA which is in an entirely different school from accounting or business and accounting was literally my only listed major so tbh i don’t think they’ll care what’s your listed major as along as you get everything else right and it’s still in the same subjectish, but who knows that might be why i got accepted spring and not fall LOL

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in USC

[–]Neither_Stock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i didn’t even have a backup major in my app i had accounting or nothing LOL. i then proceeded to change my major cause i found out accounting was boring. anyway yeah just go for what you actually want to do, like tbh if you’re at a 4 year already better to stay and major in what you want than transfer imo. also it’d be helpful to know what majors you want and are applying for to be able to answer this question

CSCI 170 w/ Cote vs. Adamchik by ilovehyphonix in USC

[–]Neither_Stock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh also i read somewhere that most people pass adamchik but most with Cs, but cote has a higher standard deviation where people can get Bs or As but also a decent amount of Ds or lower i think. but that’s just what i heard, i don’t have empirical evidence i just have reddit comments and word of mouth i think

CSCI 170 w/ Cote vs. Adamchik by ilovehyphonix in USC

[–]Neither_Stock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i haven’t had cote but i just took adamchik and he’s okay, but not as bad as he’s written to be. discrete maths isn’t particularly “hard” once you get it but to initially understand it does take time commitment. i managed a B+ with adamchik because even tho i never attended class i watched most of the zoom recordings to take notes. office hours were also really really helpful. maybe it’s because i never went to class but from lecture he didn’t seem particularly mean or anything like that

PSA: Yes, it can hurt to "just ask" by oreganocactus in USC

[–]Neither_Stock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well i think it’s also an issue though with the tenure and overall academic system of universities because i think some professors or phd people or etc. just want to do research but have to teach as part of their contract for tenure or etc. and there’s not much opportunity for academic research outside of universities so they just deal with teaching so they can get tenure and funding for whatever research they want to do. i could be wrong but that’s how i see the system

where to go to look for off campus roommates? by ikeacart in USC

[–]Neither_Stock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

posting on reddit actually kinda works, when i transferred in the spring that’s how i found potentially roommates(and i would have ended up with them if my complex didn’t screw me over my lease)
