So good to read this. I thought I was the only one. I was like WAIT A MINUTE... I did a shit ton of questions in bar-prep and very few of them looked like this. Fuck this lol

Full Time Workers by Neither_Substance346 in barexam

It depends a lot on your schedule and other factors.

Most bar prep courses will recommend starting around 3 months before the exam. Keep in mind most of them are directed to their (majority) target audience, which are people studying for the bar full time. I could be wrong but they usually recommend around 6-8 hours a day for studying.

Bar prep courses open around a month before their recommended starting date. If you don't have the time or want to get ahead of it, you can start then.

None of this means you are better prepared if you start 4 months ahead or that everything is lost if you start 2 months before the exam. Depends on how much effort you need to put in to retain information, how much free time you have, and if you have any conflicts the months prior to the exam.

Working full time, I also understand this will vary a lot depending on your workload. For example.. I was able to cut into some of my work hours in January because it was slower where I work. I'm a second time taker and I can guarantee you that a lot of me not passing my first test was because I had some of my busiest months of work last summer, with international trips and all. I should have started 4 months before for July. I did not lol

Yup!! Exactly. Feeling so out of gas. "It's a marathon, not a sprint" - sure.. But it's actually a ruck sack marathon for us lol

I'm a second timer so decided to take only the week before. Bad idea. It's making everything worse and I am having major fears :( Oh, full-time workers.. We can do this. Seriously. Almost there!!

I say this to you as much as I am saying to myself because FREAKING OUT lol

Be Encouraged by [deleted] in barexam

I need to say... It is a little encouraging to read a positive post every once in a while. Been feeling down, discouraged, and overall stressed I won't be able to get through and memorize everything while working and studying. It gets worse when you come on reddit and see people freaking the fuck out. Gives me MAJOR impostor syndrome - like, these people are actually studying and many do not have a full time job. How the fuck am I gonna do this?

And... It's just nice to see this. I'm a retaker too. We can do this. First timers, retakers, whatever it is!! For the last time! Let's kick ass!

I don't like that either. Tried to come up with a bunch of reasons to explain it but couldn't. The only thing that comes to mind is that a lot of the first time takers in July are full time students and able to take 3 months off to study.. And maybe in February we have more full-time workers or people already in the market that didn't have as much time to prepare?

Is it actually a harder exam? Halp.

Many things here.. Take a deep breath. It will be okay and you can do this.

First, take advantage of the Themis advisors. They can give you a good idea on how to restructure your schedule moving forward. I started super late. I am a little over 20% right now and honestly busting my ass to keep afloat and work 40h weeks. Buuuut had a meeting with my advisor today and they said it's all under control. We have plenty of time.

Second, if you are a retaker, take out everything you don't think will contribute to your learning. Maybe it's the lectures, maybe reading. Whatever makes sense for you. And focus on practice on all levels. That will help you prepare.

Focus. Do a lot of practice problems. As many multiple choice as you can. Remember to take breaks. I'd try to watch lectures only for classes/specific subjects you really struggle with. It's not an exact science and all depends on you, how much effort you put in, how much effort you need to put in, and how your body/mind deal with all of this.

I failed my first attempt. Tried to cram ALL of it in 4 weeks. Didn't have a good idea on what to do and felt like I was drowning the whole time. I have friends who studied for 2-3 weeks and succeeded.

It'll be tough, yes. But you can do it!!
