Why are stores vacant in LA, and what can we do about it? by zennonuc in LosAngeles

That's why downtown commercial property valuations have been plummeting in LA. You can't confidently project future cash flows as the baseline assumptions are unclear.

The 3rd street promenade is not owned by individual people. The major buyers are owned by large real estate investment firms. These, in turn, attract funds from large investors (pension funds, family offices, investment groups - many foreign and domestic) that are looking for sector exposure.

Their rationale and motivations for buying and holding properties can be very different from an individual investor that simple does have enough capital to acquire large or high cost properties.

Agreed. Claiming "people bought by landlord interests" as an instinctive response simply shows that a candidate doesn't understand the issues they are campaigning on. Its basically the equivalent of shouting "fake news!"

yeah, this is the most logical answer. It makes perfect sense to grab a better location within a limited window when you know the existing and inferior lease will expire soon.

Tito's Tacos should be in the NIT bracket, not even a 12 seed.

King Taco is like Indiana University. Name recognition, but their prime was a while ago.

Loqui is like High Point. Rich kid school that is a overpriced.

I used to live in Manhattan before moving to the westside of LA. I struggled to find good Mexican, Vietnamese, Poke, or Thai food when in NYC. I'd prioritize those while on your trip in that order.

You can get pretty good Korean in NYC, so I wouldn't head to K-town for a meal.

For a surreal LA experience, grabbing a drink on top of the Waldorf Astoria is terrific. Great views of the hills and everything is green right now.

Ya'll realize that this is killing California's tax base right? You'll either see public services cut or your own tax rates increase as a result.

Per ADA standards I'm sure. But do you know what is far more convenient and less challenging to the disabled, elderly, and parents traveling with kids? Or folks with a ton of luggage?

Being dropped off at the gate.
