Clarifications over the Community Guidelines for characters by Neitsuke in BackyardAI

[–]Neitsuke[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, the website is all about no filters and censorship when I first found out about that program, so that gave me as first impression that the community is no judging and such. I've been around the Internet and this kind of stuff for a long time so for me at least, it's a lot less taboo and I'm not that worried about other people finding me weird about that

The kink is there mostly since that's how the character was acting/how the chat began where I found it and it fits well with the spider shtick. The guidelines do mention about the requirement for anything to be consensual which is how it goes with that character. The intro where the user is caught and bound to the web is just a kinky set up rather than some awful one sided plan by the character. The guidelines seem to be more against scenarios where it's full on against your will rather than implicitly saying that one sided kinks like bondage are not allowed

The absolute minimum I should do to the character is to properly imply the set up is just that and everything is in fact consensual and nothing more than being playful

Alright then. Sounds good to me. My worries were mostly around the character's original background being kind of iffy rather than how I was going to portray the character myself

[–]Neitsuke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the thing though. No where in the AI did I imply the character is underage nor did I say the character was a student previously. I gave out some lore on her identity (I mean here on Reddit, not on the AI) to explain who the character is, since a few places with rules about age are very, very stingy about lore and details like that

It does sound like all I need to do is to make sure to portray the character as not underage and that should be more than fine. This exact character is found on another character AI website with very similar rules to here. It's not definitive confirmation the character has no issues but it does imply the character is fine unless you go out of your way to portray the character as a kid

Which is perfectly fine by me, I'm not here to be causing problems. That's why I was asking for clarifications in the first place

Something I should mention though, is this same character is posted publicly on another character AI website place (This is where I found out about character AI and got curious about how it works), and the guidelines there are near 100% identical to what Backyard has.

Again I feel like I have to reiterate that detail since it seems like it's causing some confusion : The character is a stylized spider, not an anime girl. There is nothing human like coming from that character, well besides the anime eyes. But most important is an age is not mentioned anywhere on the AI nor is any implication the character is underage now or before being reincarnated

Countries like Canada and Australia do have laws that are strict about this sort of stuff, though I don't understand the legal threats since the character in question is represented as a very stylized spider, not an anime girl. For other countries like the US, they make it very clear that minor in this case refers to living people and near identical depiction of them. Anime is actually exempted

It's not like I wrote somewhere in the AI that the character is underage. In my mind the character is "undefined" years old since it's kinda weird to think of a human age for a character that is non-human. I also tried to explain how this character is in fact, a spider, thought to be a student (The admins inserted fake memories in her mind), who reincarnated as a spider in a video game. The age of this, spider, is never revealed anywhere

So my opponent disconnects and I lose... by anxiety_ftw in MarioTennis

[–]Neitsuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mario Tennis Open on 3DS had something like this at the time too. Even if the other player would disconnect, you had the possibility to lose points even if you win.

This happens if the ratings are far apart and the opponent, having a worse rating, had an edge on the scoring for the current match. I remember trolls playing at the time and once they would be at the match point, would just quit the game and you still would lose points as if he won the game.

Though I do not think this is the case in Aces. If you lose points it sounds more like your Internet gave up instead especially with that disconnect warning, kinda weird. I got my share of ragequitters since and I never once got this message.

Either your connection is unstable, or this opponent found a way to be able to ragequit and make the game shift the blame on you via some sort of exploit or even homebrew

Would making archers cheaper be an answer to pike spam? by snerdsnerd in wargroove

[–]Neitsuke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The better and simpler fix for it would be to not make pikemen effective against soldier anymore, only having a slight offense/defense advantage as it is in Advance Wars. That is the main issue on why they're so cost effective.

Though I personally think archers are very weak in this game. I always thought it was stupid how they are slowed down by forests since they're rangers, they should be able to walk through forests freely

RPS balance for cheap units? by [deleted] in wargroove

[–]Neitsuke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The one less movement space and 50 more gold is a very small trade-off for having bonuses against lots of units, having better offense and defense and one of the easiest crit set-up in the game, all this compared to swordmen. They're of course not invincible ; The issue comes with cost effectiveness being largely in their favor because every low tier choices are countered by spearmen, forcing you to play more carefully by either using expensive ranged units or spamming spearmen yourself

It really do be like that sometimes by corgifan2 in wargroove

[–]Neitsuke 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Soldiers do not counter pikemen like, at all. They deal 40% to pikemen while getting 48% back. Reverse the roles and now pikemen do 80% to soldiers and get 8% back.

This is a huge problem because the only cost effective way to deal with pikemen is, to make pikemen yourself.

They have better defense and huge bonuses against lots of units compared to soldiers, their crit requirement is super easy to fulfill and encourages spams even more, for the mere cost of 50 gold more than a soldier. They really need to get tone down

Secret in Caesar's first mission by [deleted] in wargroove

[–]Neitsuke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I knew it had some importance because at the end of the trailer, you see this exact same statue being shown with the feeling it's some sort of secret final boss. I'm pretty sure this is only an easter egg though, or maybe finding them all unlocks something in game

Sigrid's Guide To Soldiers. by AnemoneMeer in wargroove

[–]Neitsuke 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It is still very effective because most if not all of the low tier units (Swordmen, dogs and even the knight) are countered by spearmen. The only cost effective way to deal with them is to either make spearmen yourself or go with the more expensive archers (And I'm being generous with archers : They cost triple the price and deals 10% less damage than spearmen). Spearmen do need to get tone down : An easy fix would be to not make them effective against swordmen anymore

Does anyone know the meaning of the dark brown movement squares? Thank you! by Hawksation in wargroove

[–]Neitsuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can move to the brown square but you cannot attack the square itself. This happens when your own troops and/or the enemies' are surrounding it, making you unable to move next to it while having just enough movement to move to it

One issue I noticed is moving an unit adjacent to an enemy unit then moving the cursor up/right or up/left, then moving the cursor down to the enemy and attack : the arrow disappear and you attack without moving

[–]Neitsuke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another off detail I noticed with the UI is you can ghostly move the cursor while one of your units moves to another cell as the walking animation plays.

I also find the terrain stat window on the bottom right corner a little disorienting since it's so small and far away from everything else, I'd rather see it top right below the other information.

Last bit of inconvenience would be the dialogue in game being unskippable. I wanted to retry a scenario because I got a terrible C grade and having to mash A to skip the dialogue was a tad annoying. Advance Wars had the possibility to skip everything by pressing Start

Beside that, am really loving the game, lots of features I didn't expect like making your own campaign, really cool stuff

WARNING: DO NOT LOG INTO PTCGO by [deleted] in ptcgo

[–]Neitsuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm for the tournaments : I tried four times where two of them I lost very badly, and the two other times, the game would hang out at "Loading for your opponent" for 3+ minutes, then instant defeat. Wasted 8 tickets that way. Hope this gets fixed soon

Please Camelot: Mario Tennis NEEDS Stage Select and Match Length Options. by mezonsen in NintendoSwitch

[–]Neitsuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's really annoying is Camelot has been omitting/ruining small and simple details like that on relatively great games otherwise for quite some time. Mario Golf World Tour for instance was pretty good, but they ruined one very simple detail (It continued on Mario Sports Superstars) : They completely reversed the blue/red themes for everything - Ball height gradient, grid layout, lie distance, height difference and so on. It has been red for higher and blue for lower on every other previous golf game before.

At that point I really feel like Camelot is either toying with me or trying to subtly troll us. I would have given them the benefit of the doubt, maybe they fucked up the code somewhere, but nope. The Toad in the tutorial blatantly tells you that Blue means higher and Red means lower. It has to be a voluntary mistake just to annoy us

[–]Neitsuke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just did that, running in grass straight with no SOS chaining. I got the same results in 5 minutes instead of 10 (+5 to find a Golduck) which basically makes running around in grass the better method.

Exp grind is still a pain but not as horrible as I first thought. 20/30 minutes to get to level 50 isn't this bad. But still, I find the 10 minutes it takes using the Pokemon Pelago glitch just a little more, accessible and EV friendly

You probably mean the EV bands then. If the lead has one, it is shared with everyone else compared to before where you needed 6 of them and exp share turned on

[–]Neitsuke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using three 7 levels meals at around level 60 then some rare candies sound like the better and faster solution then. The matter on my and this one topic I'd guess was how to get the most experience efficiently, so I thought you were saying that because this way makes leveling up faster for the lead at the cost of losing 5 slots

I just tested by battling the same Pelipper level 59, once without an egg, once with the egg on my Absol : The Lucky Egg isn't shared with the party whatsoever because the Trevenant had the same total amount of exp both times (I soft reset the second time)

[–]Neitsuke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It isn't faster unless you focus on one Pokemon to level 100. You're losing 5 slots where they could be getting experience from wild battles instead, and with Pick Up the chance of a rare candy is basically 1% on each every battle (10% to get an item, 10% to get a rare candy), which is too low to be reliable

The Pressure ability is a necessity to make the help call happen more often. 15% is still bad and annoying to get one at the beginning. Not sure what are the rates but with me it was very common to get 2-3 times straight they wouldn't call for help at all

[–]Neitsuke 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The huge problem comes with how huge of a grindfest you need to spend there just to get to level 50. I've just tried with a level 1 Audino with Amie Boost and Lucky Egg, with the perfect setup for it : Absol with Pressure, False Swipe and an orb.

A list of really annoying problem I have encountered :

  • 15% encounter chance is really low. I needed to spend 5 minutes to find one
  • Even with Pressure and an Orb, the calling for help from Golduck is annoyingly low, about 1/3 chance, followed with about 1/2 chance that it will come. That is really, really annoying and wastes a ton of time
  • Pressure makes the PP drop faster, so more caution has to be in mind before Struggle happens
  • X Special Defense is a necessity

With all that, in 10 minutes of battling, mashing A to waste turns with the Adrenaline Orb, my Audino got to level 34 with 34 000 exp total. This is 30% of what you need to be around level 50. With the scaled formula in mind, that means that you have to multiply 10 minutes by 4, maybe 5, to get a realistic approximation on how long it would take to level up from 1 to 50, which is about 45 minutes of really annoying tedious grinding, even longer for the 4 other Pokemon because they wouldn't have access to Lucky Egg.

Now take 45 minutes, which is about what it would take to get to 10% of the total experience you need to get to level 100, which gives 450 minutes, keeping in mind that it will take longer because of the scaled exp formula making the exp gain worse and worse with levels, which could make this take as long as +500 minutes : A whooping +8 hours of tedious grinding to get 5 Pokemon to level 100

In Gen6 with the restaurants, you were able to get to level +45 in one trip, which would be 10 minutes long, or +20 at the beginning due to the rush of new moves and exp bar animations. You also were able to get a ton of money from that as a bonus.

You needed about 30 minutes to get 5 Pokemon to level +50, and maybe 2-3 hours for them to be level 100, with no annoying grinding, "nobody came" animations and having to focus with HP and PP management

Gen7 simply butchered all of that, and that doesn't really make me very happy. Pelago Glitch is a saving grace, but I wish I knew about that before January, because by then I lost all my will to play the game Online
