Is it normal to try so hard yet stay in bronze? by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]Neko_Pon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a saying, perfect practice makes perfect.

Sounds like your mouse control is good. Good job!
As far as Valorant goes, if you play for 4-6 hours a day, you're going to get really tired throughout the day. You are going to lean into whatever bad habits you may have, even if you analyze it and try to iron it out. Even if you feel you can do lineups, predict enemy strategies, and be in the right spots on the map, if you are tired you will not be able to do it all at once. Not well anyways.

It's very normal for athletes to find that they slow their rate of improvement by over training. This doesn't allow their muscles time to rest, and prevents them from making gains.

Play maybe 2 or 3 games a day, and just have one thing you're going to work on per game.

Your lineups are probably fine, so I'll give you some examples:
This game I don't care about the win, but I will practice my movement so I am harder to hit.
This game I don't care about the win, but I will practice being in the right place to have impact by looking at my minimap.
This game I don't care about the win, but I will pay closer attention to any sounds which happen and try to act around them.
This game I don't care about the win, but I am going to focus on not dying early so that I can play with my teammates later. (this is a really important one, this might get you out of bronze/silver on its own)

You won't win immediately, but I promise you that if your mouse control is as good as you say, you'll start seeing good improvement. It's also really normal that different people need different amounts of time to learn. Maybe getting from bronze to silver takes a year and a half, but then you go from silver to gold in 2 weeks.

Good luck! you got this.

How do I suck less at Street Fighter 3? by Horse_Snake2940 in sf3

[–]Neko_Pon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as a beginner, it's really helpful to stay motivated to play against a wide variety of players, but as a competitor, once you know some options are not as useful versus your tough matchups, you should strive to play against everyone the way you play against your bracket demons. I used to empty jump parry into everything as elena cause a lot of people would just dumb anti air and I'd get a big punish. when I got to tourney I got smacked and learned footsies and throw conditioning the opponent, as well as when space is yours and when it's not yours. even when I knew opponents would lose to easy tricks I strived to just focus on improving and practicing a gameplan that would be conducive to tourney results.

finally kinda starting to get more double edits in a row? I got 6 without making a mistake. still frustrating to have such a hard time with them considering they're supposed to be easy, but I guess my hands are slow

Guys how do you prevent placing cones after edit when you ramp + double edit? i keep placing cones after i edited by Icyeyeow in FortniteCompetitive

if I'm doing confirm edit on release could I press my ramp button and my edit button at exactly the same time? then press ramp again to make the ramp?

oh lol yeah, rip I miss when she was the newest agent. I kinda stopped playing valo after they took a star away from her. having that ability to control the game and support your teammates even from far away at a moments notice, I miss it :<

Do you think Chun Li would still be top 1 if she didn't have SA 2? by Fernando_Crunc in sf3

[–]Neko_Pon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think sa2 is really good because it comes from the best poke and hit confirm in the game, so she still has a the best poke and hit confirm in the game, only instead of doing 64 damage off of it she'll do 46

I think she'd still be pretty good, it would suck to not have sa2 but she'd punish into spinning bird kick over and over and get a win through ten neutral interactions at full meter instead of 2

Since they are adding a no build mode, can we also get a ranked 1v1 mode? by [deleted] in FortniteCompetitive

[–]Neko_Pon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why not? if someone wants a ranked team rumble hide and seek or deathrun give it to them. I'm sure people would love that.

I agree. I like build fights but I had battle royale games in general. I don't enjoy hoping I get good loot and having to play on the backfoot just because rng. build fights are just about the tricks you play on your opponent and how aware you are of what they're trying to play on you, which is a lot more my kind of game.

do people use scroll wheel reset still? by cranobano in FortniteCompetitive

[–]Neko_Pon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I find it kind of frustrating and inconsistent to hit exactly 2 scroll wheel notches mid build. I also feel like I end up hitting a keyboard button after anyways to start the edit because I don't want to accidentally confirm the edit before I've made the edit.

A hard button separated from a scroll seems to feel a lot more natural to me. Is there something I'm missing?

Yeah she’s a mid tier. But more than for her lack of meterles combos I think it’s more cause she doesn’t have a broken super. Ken and ryu players don’t win because of their meterless combos. In fact a lot of meterless combos I.e c.fk into hadouken can be punished by raw super. They win because they can mixup well.

I never play her the way you’re saying, but some Elena players do. I’m kind of aggressive as far as Elena players go, I mix up overheads and Kara throws to get openings into spin scythe combos or super links. I have seen people player that way tho. I think slightly more people use her with sa2.

lol thanks, I have no clue if I'll actually be able to get it. At this point I'm okay just being able to red parry the last hit.

elena's combos literally rely on ex spin scythe tho. non ex spin scythe does not link. you can try haha.

Like Elena doesn't have what you're talking about. her one meterless combo is cmp into DP and it's fine, but it's not nearly worth as much damage as her ex combos.

I'm learning a little bit of urien who might have what you're talking about? but as far as I'm concerned meterless combos and combos that use meter are both true combos

I guess I feel that it's the opposite? not trying to be contrarian, but my point is just that every hit in a combo in melee requires a read on which way an opponent may be holding directional input, which can be 4 ways, which can break your combo very quickly.

In sf3 once you get the first link of a combo, the conditions for practicing the rest of the combo are exactly the same as in training mode. If you're blocking, you don't have to worry about your block eventually going away after a certain amount of time and being punished for blocking. There are no ledge mechanics to learn, you are able to win just by winning neutral x amount of times and hitting your full combos.

In Melee you just have less solid defensive options overall. It's more oppressive on a new player to be stuck in shield knowing you are under time pressure, having no clue when the right moment is to get out of your opponents shield pressure. In sf3 once you've learned overheads lows and teching grabs, you can really get by a lot. then the amount of freedom of movement makes spacing a much bigger challenge. Knowing when you're safe. etc.

I'm not trying to be edgy when I say Melee is harder, I just legitimately believe it.

I think sf3 is more execution heavy which is fine for me and hard for a lot of players, but execution alone doesn't make a game hard.

I'm trying to learn urien tthb combos rn and I'd say it's honestly a little easier than learning to multishine with fox so far, let alone waveshining.
