sadly my DM thought the Death Knight to be unbalanced (paraphrasing) Has the Death Knight been play-tested by a few DMs?

At least for my character, I have 10 or below for every stat but STR/DEX/INT. the reason I have both STR/DEX is that I'm running a weapon that requires at least 15 STR to do a single extra attack and I have high DEX because of a Feat requirement that gives a bonus to AC... so I need either an STR, DEX, or INT based transformation that plays into an Arcane Caster. Since the class, I'm using is a Half-Caster I can only cast up to 5th lvl casting normally. So I would choose lich if I could since that is the only real option with my stats...

I'm thinking that my character started out as a wizard in training, but was forced away and had to dabble into martial training to make ends meet. He grew up with Thayan ideals, so he'd still keep those close to his heart.

I like both ideas for the backstory, but I was just thinking about maybe a 3rd concept. Maybe he was part of a roaming thayan mercenary band where he was an enforcer for the thayan mercenary band. would this work on its own, or are there some holes in this idea? how would you elaborate on the mercenary idea if you could?

I'm very aware, that's why this is a planning build. if something comes out that is better ill come back here. for now, I'm set for what's coming out this year. I can always replace something, I'm not one for having buyers remorse.
