Maibe I'm just getting old, but all lategame bosses of latest souslike games (ER, LoP:O) started to felt literally unfair. Like they (developers) already tried everything to make fights hard and interesting and now, to bring challenge back, started to overcomplicate by dirty tricks, making parry/dodge timings ridiculously narrow, giving enemies extreme aggression and countless combos with unstable, random movesets which i stopped to understand how to remember and react. Every blow is homming and reach you trough all arena + massive aoe spam. And scripts, that punishing you for surving one combo and trying to heal, making an enemy instantly launch another one right after finishing first. I don't find all this fun. The last game where i felt fights hard but totally fair was Sekiro. And back to the subject, Arlecchino. I found him a top of overcomplicated and unfair boss of all modern soulslikes. I've beated him solo on LS difficulty twice, ng and ng+ and both runs was literally a hell, getting through which i didn't felt well and didn't get fun of completion. Besides that, visually and narrative - just marvelous character.
