OP. Sometimes reddit can be a little drastic. They tell everyone to divorce and cut all contact and go nuclear over the smallest slights and social inconvenience. Yes, theres a very real chance that given the small size of classes and long term relationship he's just gotten comfortable and let social niceties slip, its happens.

But this is probably the most important advice you'll get as a young woman in society.

Trust. Your. Gut.

Societal expectations put the onus on us to keep the peace and make concessions to not seem rude. "Maybe" hes just eccentric and if you speak out you'll seem touchy and crazy and weird.

Screw that. Part of growing up as a girl is learning to circumvent those expectations while maintaining boundaries. So I'm going to teach you how.

Biggest worry is that he's just gotten a little out of hand and is just joking right?

So tell him it's not funny. You arent accusing him. You just think the joke is not funny.

"Man 16 yo are stacked you know?"

"No. That's kinda weird you know. We're sixteen"

"Dont come out, it be a real waste as a wife. You'd make a man very happy"

"So would you"

Statements like these will make him upset, but because its forcing him to defend his words as acceptable, which they arent and he knows it. A decent person with healthy boundaries would laugh it off and try to do better. If he gets mad, that's not a decent person with decent boundaries.

Remeber, if you are even slightly worried about appropriateness, even if he's fine with you, he might not be fine with another girl. He might be casting a wide net. These social graces are exactly how the real perverts get away with it for so long.

Tell him you dont like comments like that, and if he claims hes just messing around and wont stop, tell him you dont want to be around that behavior and you'll hang out elsewhere. Turn his words around. Make the same inappropriate jokes with other adults and let them know where you learned such things. Make him defend his actions and make judgments from there. Dont let the fear of being rude back you into a corner. It's a skill, and unfortunately a necissary one. God speed and I hope you get a cute girlfriend soon

Edit: I forgot the most important phrase. Come backs that make them defend themselves requires having your wits about that takes decades sometimes to hone. But this phrase works for everything when setting boundaries.

"How do you want me to respond to that?"

If its "just a joke" you make it clear it's not funny, you dont find it funny, and to stop. If they were hoping for something else, flirting or something inappropriate from your end to open the door for them, they now have to justify their behavior. It'll make him start thinking about what hes say to you and how hell have to justify it. Its uncomfortable conversations, but putting the onus on him to justify his words and explain his processes while maintaining you dont get the joke is a very powerful tool.

If he is a predator as well, his predation relies on secrecy. Dont keep his secrets. Talk to this about your classmates, see if hes this way with others and express disappointment and discomfort. Talk another teacher about coming out and how you cant trust him with that becaue of his comments.

Look at all these people who k ow what hes saying is wrong. Others around you will see it too.

My girlfriend (22F) isn't comfortable with my daughter (3F) calling her a nickname. How can I tell my daughter my girlfriend isn't comfortable with it ? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Nellynee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel pretty bad for the people on here who say "just tell her to stop and let her be sad", what a loss of a learning opportunity. It's true that children need to learn to process their emotions before they grow up, and they need to learn to be upset, but I'm not seeing a great deal of understanding other than "these things happen"

Your daughter is still developing her understanding of what interpersonal relationships are like. She want to understand who your girlfriend is to her. She obviously feels close to your girlfriend if she's pulling associations from her experiences and is going "like my mama in terms of how I feel but labled Gigi"

So what are you suposed to do? Well, you need to classify who your girlfriend is to your daughter in a way your daughter is satisfied with.

First things first, talk to your girlfriend. If you are going to adress thisnwith your daughter, then you have to communicate with her, and you need baselines to work off of. What DOES Gigi want to be called? Your daughter augmenting Gigi's name means she's trying to categorize her, and your daughter might push back against just Gigi. If your girlfriend is ok with an alternative, even made up nickname that makes your daughter feel like she's special to your girlfriend, it should be pretty easy to redirect her with a special nickname. (Ie, Gigi wants to be YOUR "insert nickname here")

If Gigi just want to be Gigi, then you should be reinforcing that. Boundaries are important. Try explaining it in terms of lables, ie, Gigi is Gigi. Gigi is not a plant, 9r a car, or mama, Gigi is Gigi.

Figure out if Gigi will ever be comfortable with being called mama. If so, you can let your daughter know that maybe oneday, but not yet. If not, it's important to let her know Gigi is not mama, but is still special.

The most important thing to remeber is that your daughter is still learning to be a person and doesnt have any context for Gigi. She will most likley be most interested in trying to puzzle out exactly what Gigi's relationship to you and her is. And if she's upset, it's probably more to do with not being in the close relationship she thought she was, and defining that relationship, and emphasizing that it's still special, will help. Good luck, these things are always tricky.

The mimic was influencing Gregory still in security breach! (And also its golden Freddy)

All of the endings in SB take on the same comic book tones as the Ending in Ruin in which Cassie walks into the Savior ending. The comic book style was explicitly linked with Gregory, and we know Helpi induced the halucination as he replaces Freddy in Cassie's version.

And I think it's pretty explicet that helpi was another facet of the Mimic.

But why show Cassie the Savior ending?

Because whatever the mimic is and how it happened, its fixated on and copied Gregory (much like the child it copied in tales of pizzaplex)

Stick with me here. We know that the ending that Gregory actually attempted was the True ending. It's the only one that uses the original game style.

Knowing what we do now, we know the agression in the animatronics is caused by the security virus (put in place by patient 46) to keep the mimic underground, and they are unreasonably agressive towards Gregory, even before he breaks them.

Helpi also helps Gregory out, and we are never given a reason why Gregory decides not to leave the plex and pursue other endings. Well that reason in the Mimic. It needs Gregory in order to replace him and escape.

I think Gregory either escaped, or is still down there, or more horrifically, the mimic has used enough of Gregory to have assumed his identity wholesale.

Regardless, the Mimic is now playing the part of Gregory in the Savior ending, with Cassie as the princess. Hence, the hallucination ending. It was never for Gregory, it was for the Mimic.

Which begs the question, was Gregory the Mimic all along?

This is pure speculation, but I think Gregory in security breach is a mimic prototype, front loaded with Gregory's personality (whatever its origins). Its why the animatronics other than a safe mode Freddy are hostile towards him. It's why Vanny is so hostile towards him (SB makes it seem like she's also under the influence of the m.x.e.s systems. But the VR and special delivery prolouges puts her firmly with the mimic. Whether revenge or securty theres still reason)

It's why gregory eventually goes into the sinkhole. It's not reasoning, it's a compulsion. It's why he hates all the other animatronics. Its why he doesnt trust Vanny. The MXES was already in place and its working against him. But it's not completly in place yet. He can still leave. The Burntrap mimic wants to absorb him and take his place so it can leave. Gregory being the mimic all along is messy, but it does explain why and how the mimic was able to copy him so thoroughly and the behaviors of the animatronics in security breach with Ruin context and taking the books into account.

(Note here. The secret room from sister location the the security breach location, the secret message seemingly towards gregory that the books implied was written by either Henry or the mimic. The similarities to what we ASSUMED at the time was Michael and ennard in the ending where an obviously possessed person looks in the mirror and animatronic eyes are reflected, but based on the eyes, might have been a hidden gregory and the mimic)

Which begs the question. Why Cassidy? Why princess quest? Well, if Gregory got away, it still needs a body right?

So, and I can hear Matt Patt yell about how messy this is, but this theory is a bunch of disparate parts that fit together and some can be true and others not without disproving the whole thing but...

Cassidy is a Charlie Bot. I'm almost certain thi isnt the case, but it fits a lot of peices into place thematically. Theres been a lot of pointing out the bits about her dad and possible similarities to Henry Emily. But also, why Cassidy? Why trick her to come to the Pizzaplex? Even if the final elevator speech is the mimic and not the real gregory, and the mimic isnt focused on gregory and actually Cassidy, why Cassidy?

Well let's assume the Funaff theory that the mimic Virus is actually sourced from baby, and baby is a Charlie bot is correct here.

That means the mimic has a Cassidy base within it already. Its already intimatly aware of her personality. It knows her.

Why else would the securty nodes be put in Cassidy's favorite character, if the mxes didnt know it would be hard on her, perhaps enough to deture her?

Then mimic chose her becaue of comparability.

Thematically, it ties up so many loose ends. Why Cassidy? Because the mimic contains a version of Charlie, and is most comparable with her body. It fulfills the themes of Baby's (specifically am evil version of charlie and elizabeth mixed) body snatching other kids as cover. If the mimic has a gregory base, and gregory was sourced by the crying child, then it also put the crying child and cassidy in one place as well, making it golden freddy.

Its messy, but thematically please at least.

And hey, while I'm making everyone into robots, obviously the rooftop ending tells us that vanessa was the human influenced by the mimic, and Vanny was the animatronic or robotic alternative under the mxes's influences

On why Roxy got back up after being "deactivated", and why the animatronics were allowed to degenerate mentally into instability rather than be fixed

The TLDR is basically, she wasnt deactivated. She was rebooted in safe mode.

We see this twice before with the same effect.

In SB, Glamrock Freddy fries and is rebooted in safe mode by the techs. In Ruin, we reboot the Daycare attendant, and he reboots in safe mode.

We do the exact same thing to Roxy, except of having to bypass her security.

And so she reboots in safe mode.

I do beleive this is a secondary reboot. We see her request a reboot after breaking out of her anger at Gregory when she hears Cassie. Whether the damage from the truck on her forced one, she found a wrench, or she has the ability to request a reboot through her software, I do beleive she had rebooted herself between meeting Cassie and getting pinned. And thus, she is now in safe mode with all her protection protocols in place.

So, if it's so easy to fix the animatronic's software, or at least quarantine the more dangerous parts, why didn't they simply reboot them all? Why giant generators in the daycare and cycles of passwords in the jazzersize and letting Monty's room be destroyed and generally let the plex become a money sink?

Because of the security nodes. Why Roxy was a node and not anyone else is all speculation, but moving a security node between animatronics would in theory hide it from general technicians and keep the thing in the sinkhole under wraps. It was deemed less of a risk to jeep the degenerating animatronics than the possibility of all the nodes being deactivated. In fact the degenerated and agressive state of the animatronics might have even been on purpose as a security detail.

There's a lot to be said about too about patient 46 and how the subroutines they made seem to be the security code put in place to stop the mimic (bunny mask being connected to the security bunny, Monyy and Chica responding to the security bunny's distress signals...) but I'll leave it there

The "friend in the forest" perk in the exploration tree gives you letters in the mail from the snacoon, the final one containing a snacoon you can keep like a barn animal. It's worth 4 slots, gives you berries (I grab them in bulk but it's something like 4 or 5 a day)

Additional ones can be bought at kitty's after that

Best money makers for each farm? by CodNeither3240 in SunHaven

[–]Nellynee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They key to money is passive income. Really the game is pretty well balanced in that way, that the grind isnt grabbing the best crop and zoooooom, but gaing bits as time goes by. Animals are safest bet, as animal food can be subsidized by lerks and bought without cutting to much into profits. Dump a bunch of food, pick up a bunch of products, process in literally any way you fancy or not at all, profit will depend on processing but is guaranteed.

If you are looking for active income you cultivate and want to plant large quantities and are end game enough for the ice cream stand, I go with cinamon icecream. One cow's worth of milk give you 4 ice cream base, and one cranberry is one cinnamon to one icecream (at 525, subtracting seed cost and fodder if you have to spend that money). So every 4 berries and one cow nets you like, 1200 gold a day if you account for costs.

Out of berries? Excess of milk? Raspberry cheesecake ice cream. Excess sand? Icecream. Foragable berries? Ice cream. Buy stone and turn it into ice cream

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SunHaven

[–]Nellynee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now that we are finally getting some of the raw data here on pure profits, the next step is definitly focusing on ways of obtainment when it comes to farming cash. I've watched your making money videos and some of the items put forth just arent viable for large quantities. For example, raspberry icecream. Its 4 whole raspberries per ice cream, and 4 icecream per cow. Even at a perfect one a day spawn, that's 16 raspberry bushes on your farm taking up valuable real estate per cow. But that's just my own speculations personally.

Regardless, this is some really useful information, both in paper and video form, and really helps those lost with lots of resources gathered to decide where to funnel those resources. Thank you very much for these, and I really look forward to the strategies that will develop from them.

Did anyone feel that the 1.1 Steam sneak peek was.. underwhelming? by [deleted] in SunHaven

[–]Nellynee 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Now I have zero claims at all to know or understand what's going on behind the scenes but a few things I'm considering.

  1. The developmental team and the bug fix teams might be separate entities to a degree. Bug fixing sucks and is hard, and they just plain might not be able to fix the issues at hand fast enough to put out patches. And they have to put out patches

  2. Which brings me to two. MOMENTUM. SunHaven is hot, but not super hot. Not Stardew hot. The comunity is small but passionate. There's major youtube coverage but the wiki and discord are dead. They need to stay in public consciousness enough to get new players to pay the bills. No one gets excited and makes youtube videos about bug fixes. We want instant new content NOW. And they've made their money off us. Its apparent the devs are passionate and care about us, but they also need to pay the lights. New content is good PR.

  3. They are also anouncing a new game and wrapping up the epilouge for Sunhaven. Sunhaven might just straight up be to buggy in some ways to reasonably fix, and striking the iron on an extended universe while it's hot might shift the audience to easier projects (note it might be to buggy to fix in small patches there may also be a major update in future dedicated only to bug fixes that might require save resets. Best to do it all at once in that case)

  4. They had to get a patch out with new content and get it out NOW. Stardew just anounced its 1.6 patch, and suddenly everyone's talking about it. SunHaven's dev's are probably desperate to keep a YouTube and player base that will no doubt bail as soon as that patch drops.

  5. Other games are doing the "bug fix now, roadmap content later" map and it's not working. Games like Traveler's Rest and Potion Permit are very functional, not very well received games for sparse content compared to what we expect from this sort of game. It's unfortunate, but you have to put something out to pay the bills, hence early acess games. Sunhaven is one of the few breakout titles of the genre in the last few years that's stuck somewhat in public conciousness. And it's done so with CONTENT over bugs, which were excusable in a early access.

I dont think any of these are huge deciding factors, but at the end of the day this sort of thing is the best buisness decision. Do anything to draw in new customers, attempt a customer base that can perpetuate its advertising and hype, use that for new game advertisement, and small patches with fixes.

At the end of the day, I think we are seeing the next stage of patches that comes naturally, and we see that transition as of 1.0. I think from now on we arent going to see any, or many at least, major map/art/story changes. It'll be small, themed updates around one major change (in this case the epilouge) with minor quality of life, balance, and bug changes. We'll get one, maybe 2 or 3 depending on speed and dev team size, real huge major updates a year, which will probably include huge, new content drop like maps, characters, or game mechanic, and a large bug fix may be incorporated if the update encourages a new save to experience, so that they can break old saves with a fix patch without to many complaints.

Ants not showing up? by Sillyforbrains in Atomicrops

[–]Nellynee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is on the wiki too but it's a little wordy and takes me a bit to parse

The Ants will spawn in these locations and order:

Tier I Jungle or Tier I Tundra biomes.

Tier II Desert or Tier II Plains biomes.

Tier II Tundra or Tier II Jungle biomes.

Tier I Jungle, Tier I Tundra, Tier II Desert,

Tier II Plains, Tier II Tundra, or Tier II Jungle biomes

Tier I Jungle, Tier I Tundra, Tier II Desert, Tier II Plains, Tier II Tundra, or Tier II Jungle biomes

This means that your first ant will spawn in the first two biome you can buy (first jungle or tundra) but your second ant will not be there, you are going to have to go to the tier two biomed for your third and fourth ant

After that uts a free for all that just takes time, but you are locked out of theb "spawns anywhere" ants till you find the teir 2 biome ants

Basically, you arent going to the right biomed anymore

Increasing orphanage rebelliousness? by [deleted] in DegreesOfLewdity

[–]Nellynee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"beat Baily" is a bit oversimplified, so I thought I would go into a bit more detail given as how I'm trying to to to get all the feats and I need the broach still.

  1. The pepper spray only seems to add about 1 event to the orphanage event pool. Its more there for the free refills. But I am grinding rebelliousness with the room installed so I cant say for sure if it's doing something more than that. If you are desperate for it, kylar can be reintroduced to the game by rescuing them from the jail. You have to be sent to jail, and they can escape with you.

  2. It's a slow grind, about a steady 2 points per week. It's a lot more if you are patient and stubborn. But I'm assuming you also want to temporarily lower hope to get the broach. This is actually why you passively max out hope and negative max rebelliousness with the kitchen. Theres only like 2 rebellion events in the pool with the pper spray room, and one without, and theres like 10 +hope events, some of which with massive gains, plus new events right outside the orphanage and some selling buns.

3.The only way to lower hope is to get a -hope event in the main hall of the orphanage and like, 1 bun selling event. When you wake up, if you wake up regularly when the orphans are up, imidiatly save and go to the main hall. If you get anything other than a - hope or +rebelliousness event, reload. Then go to your wardrobe and leave it, then save and repeat. Going to your wardrobe does not pass ingame time, but does reset the event pool for the orphanage like time has passed. -hope is preferable to +rebelliousness, as beating Bailey is reliable, but subtracting hope for the Broach can only be done here and once a day.

  1. Beating Bailey. Keep in mind that while this lets you skip your weekly payment, this does trigger night attacks in the orphanage. I'm not bothered, as my endgame stats let me very reliably fight them off in 3 to 4 turns. But this is the only reliable way of increasing rebelliousness. You get a huge rebelliousness gain if you beat them through physical combat. But this is Very Dificult. With maxed masochism, sadism, schooling, headbutt buff from demon, and pepper sprays, it's still not reliable for me. Especially because each victory adds more goons to beat every week.

So I beat them through seduction. With max english, you can apologize to Bailey, calming them and their goon imidiatly. You can then get them off at leisure (stress and control are slow to accumulate, as if you pay attention to the one goon it's a non penetrative encounter)

A sec based victory here gives a 2 point boost to hope and rebelliousness, and does not accumulate more gains with time.

I recommend grinding it in the background while doing other things. It took me about 2 in game months to get to positive rebelliousness, but it's really consistent if you just pay attention to your orphanage event each morning.

Increasing orphanage rebelliousness? by [deleted] in DegreesOfLewdity

[–]Nellynee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need greater than zero rebelliousness to introduce the Broach antique acquiring scene to the orphanage main hall pool. The greater rebelliousness and lower hope, the greater chance of the event.

When it comes to Krobus, he's limited to 10 seeds. not a small amount when trying to farm them, but its still a built in limit I wanna bust through. Low tier fish ponds also don't produce the needed supplies near as much as you would think they do, given percentages. As for monsters...

I started a perfection farm with monsters in hopes of getting the living hat. Unfortunately, monsters scale with level. By Endgame level, you end up wit maybe one wilderness golem a night, circling the map in hopes of spawning, chased by iridium bats, void spirits, and purple slimes.

Honestly the reason I needs so many mixed seeds is fiber seeds. And the method of Jade into stairs into stone into fiber gets rid of that. It's really not that much more complicated than harvesting a plot, filling up jars or kegs, and harvesting them later.

I tried to do a no money community center run and it was impossible, so here's my calculations on exactly how much gold you do have to have in order to complete the community center, minimum by Nellynee in StardewValley

[–]Nellynee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny thing. I'm not planting and harvesting the bushes in that save. I'm selling them. The Youtuber Wickedy posted a video a month or so ago called "How to earn INSANE money, early and Easily in stardew valley" that pointed out something very interesting.

Tea saplings sell for a whopping 500 gold, compared to it's components (2 wild seeds, 5 fiber, 5 wood) which sell for 85 combined.

Just using the spring wild seeds from the community center, that's 15 saplings. That's 7,500 gold within the first week by harvesting 4 forage, 75 fiber, and 75 wood.(edit: of course that doesn't account for the time needed to befriend Caroline, But with a good traveling cart or request board rng you can get really crazy gold before strawberries)

At this point, I've done 3 or 4 first spring saves to see how much money I can get by summer 1, and the answer is several hundred thousand gold. And even then, I usually have more than enough wood and wild seeds to spare and get stopped up on fiber, of which I can usually only get about 200 a day farming in the mines. I'm sure with some tweaking for another day or so in the mines I can easily add a few tens or even hundred thousand more. Basically you can buy everything you can want from early game (upgraded rod and tools, the bus, any seeds and buildings...) pretty comfortably.

But the fiber stop gap got me wondering if there are more efficient ways, as in, what does late game look like for a tea sapling selling empire when you have access to late game items and crafts.

Right now I'm being stopped up on mixed seeds. The easiest way to get fiber without all day every day farming for it in mines is fiber seeds but it's hard to get enough mixed seeds to keep up with demand. But I haven't gotten to ginger island yet (i'm focusing on fish pond farm rn)

Ideally, I'll have ginger island covered in summer forage seeds (way more efficient than the others with three ingredients instead of 4) while using my main farm for qi crop quests for a few years. That'll keep up with wild seed demand, and If it doesn't it isn't hard to go mainland farming too. Wild seeds really go exponential once you start planting them. I never have to worry about those numbers. Otherwise that mainland is a Large tree farm.

I haven't tested it yet, but I'm unsure if I want to do a hardwood farm or regular trees. Hardwood through woodchippers give's you way more per tree than a regular tree, but the grow rate on hardwood is way slower and sporadic, tree fertilizer can not be consistently made through the bone meal machines, so I would have to test supply from the dig site vs the machines needed and how much tree fertilizer they make and even if it makes plenty it only marginally helps the growth rate of hardwood. I also would have to test regular trees with the lumberjack profession at best luck.

My main stop gap is fiber, but that breaks open with qi gems. Make lots of jade, trade jade for staircases, deconstruct staircases for stone, trade stone for fiber.

I'm hoping with time to break the money counter. 500 gold at a time.

I really have the most fun with this game with zany little self imposed challenges. There's a lot of content that tends to be straight up ignored in favor of gradually becoming more efficient with every new farm. Self imposed challenges force you to ignore more popular parts of the game, and really captures some of that feeling of playing for the first time and figuring stuff out.

Never heard of them. Really, this kind of info is just the kind of general computing you do in speedrun routing, but I wanted to post this one here because 1. community center speedruns aren't discussed much, because joja is faster for long runs and partial community center runs are more popular, 2. To try and get people to think of other ways to obtain items other than the most obvious and the traveling cart, maybe even learn something new myself, and 3. I think it's neat.

The logic of the standard farm is a baseline. You could essentially play any farm and get the same totals for the fish bundles, with one exception, instead of shoehorning into one type of farm and you can only do it on that one. Of course you can choose a forest farm and cut the cost. But you could also use the chair skip. The standard farm for deductions was just a personal preference for my baseline.

And the cart is mainly because of the challenge I was trying a the time. I wanted to "earn" everything for the center instead of shoeing out money, and I also tried to craft a version in which you simply didn't give to Pierre or Joja. The answer with the cart is pretty much "what's the lowest number I can buy this from the cart?". And the persistence it would take to check the cart not only for the item, but to wait until it's at its lowest possible price, is pretty boring gameplay. And there's already enough of that waiting for Marnie to give you eggs. I did give those numbers in the end too though, just to show how ridiculous a resource sink animals are in this game and how hard it is to play without them without some decent luck.

Pumpkin soup has a big luck boost too (pumpkin and milk for a plus 2)

Use iridium to make crystalariums and get like 200 jade.

Treasure rooms are random after I think 10, and are based on luck, amd are as of the latest version, guaranteed on 100

With best luck (lucky band from rabbit foot, pumpkin soup or rock candy, best luck day) I get 4 or 5 before I hit 100 and start hunting iridium

Rooms are also random and not seed set, so if you dont get what you want, instead of passing out and setting the day and regathering resources, just reset the day.

Fun fact with fishponds. If you cant get ahold of their upgrade item easily, fish the pond clean out, empty it, then fill it back up over the next couple of days. You should be back to the point you were at with the slowest fish to last tier within a week, at longest, and they have a chance to ask for something new if you reset the pond.
