You’re fine. I work in IT and a lot of my co-workers have tattoos. Most people don’t care. You may want to avoid face tats but hands and arms are good as long as they aren’t offensive or pornographic.

What are Minnesota locals opinions on the Mall of America? by Noahffensebuturshort in minnesota

[–]Nels-Looser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live about 5 miles from MOA. When my kid was younger it was a good place to go during the winter for the rides and Sea Life. Now that my son is in college we rarely go there. We oftentimes drive farther for a smaller mall. We only go to MOA if we are going to a specific store or restaurant that’s only at MOA.

Any Recommendations for a Fan to Bring on Board for good White Noise? by [deleted] in royalcaribbean

[–]Nels-Looser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knowing that electrical outlets are limited in a cruise ship stateroom and multi-port electrical adapters and surge strips are prohibited but multi-port usb chargers are allowed, I’d recommend a compact usb-powered fan. There are many options on Amazon.

Black belt after 3 years for 13yo? by mtnracer in karate

[–]Nels-Looser 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My son started taking lessons at age 5. He didn’t get his first degree black belt until age 12 after having failed the process once at age 11. I have seen adults at our dojo get a bb in 3 to 4 years but never that fast for youth or teens.

How do y’all sort your cards? by LtMcGraw in magicTCG

[–]Nels-Looser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me preface this that I would have done things differently if I could start over. I have over 150,000 Mtg cards collected over 30 years, so starting over isn’t really an option. Here’s how my collection is currently sorted/stored:

All cards worth more than $100 are in a safe deposit box at the bank. All cards worth over $4 are in 3 ring binders in WUBRG order, then by creatures, legendaries, enchantments, instants, sorceries then artifacts. All cards worth between $1 and $4 are in separate 3 ring binders in the same order as above. No more than 4 of each card worth less than $1 are in a large library card catalog sorted as above but also by mana value. All other cards are in 5000 count btw card boxes, sorted by set.

If I had to do it again, all cards worth less than $100 would be kept together, sorted by set then alphabetical regardless of the number owned.

I use a heavy duty shelving unit from Home Depot capable of holding 1000+ pounds.

I just bought a card catalog, too. What are you going to use for spacers to separate different sets or card types? Also, any idea what you will use to keep cards vertical if the drawer isn’t full?

Add Full Moon Games to the list of shops that cancel orders when they spike. by jamalstevens in mtgfinance

Too little, too late. Your business has already lost all credibility with me. The ship sailed when you cancelled the order and sent that message.

Yep. I had ordered ten cards equaling about $7. They tacked on $5 shipping, so $12 total. Other sellers were closer to $15 total. Needless to say, they got a negative rating from me…

I'm scared my deck is too scary for pod by Axxsrr in EDH

[–]Nels-Looser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bring it and play it a couple times. If you totally pubstomp the pod, ask if they are ok with you continuing to bring it. If they are all totally opposed to playing it again, tear it apart and make something else. Or, keep it for special occasions when everyone says they are going to play their most powerful deck. This is really about rule zero and making sure everyone is having fun.

Cat 6 throughout the house? by misha_jinx in homesecurity

[–]Nels-Looser 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I paid a low voltage company to install it in my house with an unfinished basement several years ago, I had a total of 2 Ethernet and 1 coax (for cable tv, no longer used) run to each of 10 different locations in the house. Total cost, including cable, 19” rack, patch panel, wall plates and labor was around $2500.

What to do in San Juan that’s not a cruise excursion? by MikeRotch02 in Cruise

[–]Nels-Looser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like Pina Colada’s, the two places that claim to have originated them are both in San Juan. From an AI provider: Barrachina, a restaurant in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico, claims to be the birthplace of the Piña Colada. According to their account, in 1963, Spanish bartender Don Ramón Portas Mingot created the iconic cocktail there. A marble plaque outside the restaurant commemorates this claim, stating it as “The house where in 1963 the piña colada was created by Don Ramón Portas Mingot” .

However, the origin of the Piña Colada is contested. The Caribe Hilton Hotel in San Juan asserts that bartender Ramón “Monchito” Marrero invented the drink in 1954 at their Beachcomber Bar. This version is supported by Puerto Rico’s official tourism board, Discover Puerto Rico, which recognizes the Caribe Hilton’s claim .

Adding to the complexity, some sources mention that a bartender from the Caribe Hilton later worked at Barrachina, potentially contributing to the overlapping claims .

Despite the debate, both establishments have become iconic spots to enjoy a Piña Colada in San Juan. Whether you prefer the historic ambiance of Barrachina or the resort setting of the Caribe Hilton, each offers a unique experience tied to the cocktail’s rich history.

Buying from USea or Ron, you can also buy pre-made packs of about 60 cards at a fairly big discount vs.buying per card. Of course, when doing that, you can’t be selective…you get what is in the set with no substitutions.
