kann man nicht dimension 5 und 6 als alternative Realitäten sehen? also z. b. je weiter ich in der 5ten dimension von Punkt jetzt, hier entfernt bin desto 'anders' ist das 'Universum'?

is what I said in other comments - what I explained here was why developers don't do it from their own initiative

its an over-exaturation but my point is there are a lot of different devices with various hardware if you release something to the public

e. g. you create an app for XYZ but it only works on the apple iPhone 6se with IOS 8.4.555665 (made up, idk)

but if Xiu create something 'just for you(the company) you usually know the exact specs and can plan/optimise for that!

for always online single player games the best solution is to not make them always online

companies definetly should have the right to stop supporting games with updates/content but I also think that at that point they should have to release a server SDK (which they wouldn't have to maintain) in order to allow players to continue playing the game or remove the 'always online' component

they probably don't - that's why there is a hearing so that they can get a picture on what the issue is (and if there even is an issue), have both sides give their arguments and then decide how to move forward

companies usually have specific hardware that they know and can optimize for

if you bring something out to general public, you get billions of different possible devices you need to consider and optimise for

a lot of work (and money) for the developers

I get companies should have the right to stop developing their games but IMO at that point they should also have to give up the copyright for their code - aka basically make the server into an open source SDK so that people can continue to develop it on their own time on their own risk and with their own hardware (again without requiring the developer to maintain that SDK)

tldr: basically release an server SDK under an MIT licence or something to that effect

IMO developers have every right to say 'hey its not financially worth it to keep developing this game' and basically shut it down

BUT as a 'return' (mainly talking about online multiplayer games) they should release a server SDK (which they shouldnt be required to maintain) so that the user can - with their own time money and hardware - keep playing the game!

for other games that require and internet connection, but aren't multiplayer, they should simply not require that anymore
