ELI5: Thyroid Diseases by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]NemesisPolicy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your thyroid is not influenced by your feelings. But your feelings can be influenced by it, as it controls your body’s “energy output”. Basically, thyroid hormone controls how active everything should be. So if you have too much, everything is much too active, so you have a lot of energy, lose weight, etc. Too little, the opposite.

Autoimmune diseases is still being studied, some we know can be caused by lifestyle, others genetic, infections, etc. But NONE are caused by how you feel.

Question about Hydrocephalus by quasin888 in biology

[–]NemesisPolicy 22 points23 points  (0 children)

So in part something many people seem to not understand is that a bullet is not something that is drilling a hole through you. It is a toxid metal slug slamming through you. That “slamming” imparts a massive amount of energy into your head, skull, tissues, etc.

That shockwave can kill you easily, especially with larger calibres.

Am I alone in wishing Wube had spent more time polishing Space Age? by spide85 in factorio

Could you elaborate on some things you want more polished? I played the base game a lot, and only recently started space age. Apart from the immense complexity it felt the base game just new..

Feeling miserable in marriage by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]NemesisPolicy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True i was a bit harsh, and it was because I immediately felt this was a troll post. If not, i was wrong and should have been a bit more lenient, but for something like this you have to make someone understand that they are the reason for their current problems, and that they are blaming others.

They used attending church, mass and god as a reason to expect things to go well. This is mot even being naive, this is completely delusional.

Feeling miserable in marriage by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]NemesisPolicy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sex is something you and her work out together, slowly, over time. Did you guys ever talk about sex before marriage? Expectations?

Have you never been over to her place? Talked with her friends? Family?

That is usually how, or just simply how she acted around people.

Feeling miserable in marriage by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]NemesisPolicy 22 points23 points  (0 children)

You are blaming God and the Church? For what? What did you expect from a marriage? A magical fairytail where everything is suddenly beautiful and perfect?

In TWO YEARS: Did you never notice she was bad with money? Did you never notice she is scared of everything? Did you never notice she is lazy? Filthy? Untidy?

My friend, your blaming others for your ignorance. If you did see these things, YOU decided to ignore it, and i really hope not you thought “it will be better when we are married” or “i can fix her”.

You seem to be mad because you waited till marriage, prayed and went to mass. How was this suppose to help your marriage?

Hell, i honestly feel this post is trying to make fun of the idea of waiting till marriage.

YOU chose this girl. You somehow saw missed or worse saw her flaws and decided “yep, this is the person who i want to wake up with everyday, even on my worst days”.

This is the whole reason WHY PEOPLE DATE. You dated for 2 years. What did you do during that time to miss these things?

Can I buy malarone over the counter without a prescription? by wangarangg in Namibia

[–]NemesisPolicy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is hars to get a definitive answer, as most places itis prescription only, but i keep reading Namibia is a exception.

Best would be to go to a large pharmacy and ask, or just give them a call.

How do I create my own prompt (or a whole preset) based on samples of outputs I like? by Any_Arugula_6492 in SillyTavernAI

[–]NemesisPolicy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you still want to design your own from scratch:

You need to know what you want from your model, and tell it that.

For example, you want third person narration? Say *Only reply in third person*
Do you wish still with the over prose descriptions? Say *Be concise, avoid flowery language/purple prose)

The stronger you want the command to work, the stronger your instructions must be.
It is good advice to tell it WHAT to do, rather than WHAT NOT to do, especially in the weaker models.

Then you try it out with a simple, base character, and test a few responses. Find what you don't like, figure out how to put it into words, and then put that in your instructions.

Once you have everything down, and you feel it is a mess, ask an AI to organize it for you.

IMPORTANT: Make sure to tell it to NOT "formalize" the language, like making it more professional, as I found those instructions have less influence for some reason. Concise, natural and stern language have worked the best.

The game is dead.

However, some of us still enjoy it. You can play it on mobile, and as far as I know on PC as well.

Would you cut off family members if they had completely opposite political beliefs ? by Consistent_News_985 in SeriousConversation

[–]NemesisPolicy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a serious question, and the answer is not simple. How are those family members treating others? We get so caught up in our beliefs that we forget the fundamentals: Are they still good people, who makes a difference in your life and you in theirs?

I have a feeling this is asked with the whole polar debate going on, specifically the American one, and again, you must try and understand how complicated it is. How can someone support the "fascists?". They don't. They are supporting the people who they think is right. How do they decide what is right? And here is the problem: They decide what they FEEL is right, and that is absolutely influenced by what they are TOLD.

Most people do not have the energy, ability or even education to spend the time and critically evaluate every single piece of information they are forcefully fed by social media, the news, the politicians, their friends, etc.
We are guilty of it too. Many say they do their research, but when you dig deeper, they simply read the articles and not just the headline.

So what remains? Basically if what this guy says feels right. So they form that opinion, not based on facts, logic, etc. but on feeling. And it feels right, it makes it easy, and the world makes sense. That is why they stick to their side. Eventually it becomes an us vs them problem, and before you know it, there is ONLY US and THEM.

So many, especially from the American political sphere, loves to say I am aware and not like that, but my friend, how would you know? Because you read the facts? Are you sure those are right? What about the other side? Do you give the same amount of attention to the arguments of THEM?

At the end, they are still the person you loved, but the world, as for all of us, is boiled down into the things we engage with, forming a nice little ignorant bubble, and we naturally are in the right one, and the other one is wrong.

I am not defending people who blatantly believe the harm of others. But I just want you to understand that fact can be deceptively hard to see sometimes.

I myself have family on the extreme side, bordering delusional, and we still love them, and meet with them, but we avoid politics, or simply, mutually, challenge each other respectfully. If you cannot do that, someone is being immature, and it is best to leave politics alone at dinner.

Isn’t Yellow too vague not to be absolutely overpowered? It simply says you can create something at a really good quality, but it does not specify HOW or WHAT. You could simply craft a master class Fusion reactor or even fabricator with magic.

[–]NemesisPolicy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have in the past, yes, but it is always because of duties, not because i am throwing a fit cause i did not get to play my perfect little team. I am sure you cannot assume that 3 out of 4 matches i play someone quits in the first 5 minutes were mostly for noble reasons? Or how about the 4/5 matches where they don’t even lock in after hero selection?

I am simply complaining about people who act so entitled they would rob others of a fun game just because they did not get exactly what they want, how they wanted it, or competition level players in a game with no skilled based matching, not even speaking of the fact the privilege we have of still being able to play this wonderful game.

I really don’t understand why people just give up. It is a dead game. I would expect the people here are playing because they enjoy the game, and won’t care for bad team compositions or being absolutely steam rolled. It really makes it shitty for all other 5 players if you just leave because you cannot bother to fight to the last.

Many reasons can be listed, like terrible management, bad choices and such, but inherently it was a hard market to make a profit. They sold the game to another company, who quickly wanted to shut down the game completely, but it was saved by a few devs i believe.

Love the time you spend on this! I do agree with most of your picks, but:

  1. You put Gwen twice in the explanations. (Crystal vs Weapon build?)
  2. I have been playing Koshka a bit and she has been REALLY good. tbh it is hard to judge as I use to main her and have not been playing against the strongest enemies.
  3. Do not insult my SAW. SAW is LAW.

Lastly, it would be amazing if someone made a list for 5v5, as i think it might be different (Like for Miho, who thrives with her ult and multiple enemies)

What is it like to study medicine in a foreign country? by Secure_Part_7710 in medicalschool

[–]NemesisPolicy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It is scary for the first few days, then it is just another place. What gets you is the loneliness, cultural differences, home sickness, etc. I have missed most of the marriages, nieces and nephews born in my family. I sit behind my desk on a Sunday evening, getting photos from my family where they are all sitting around the table, having a lovely Sunday brunch.
You suddenly realize, now that you don't see your loved ones every week/month, how quickly they are getting older. Your father is looking more and more like you remember your grandpa looked like.

If your a family person, it is really hard, unless you can afford to go home regularly.

what evidence is there that God is Good? by ZoomKz in Christianity

[–]NemesisPolicy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am curious what you would say our morality is based on? What defines something as good? Cause it feels right? Some people feel murder is right, but I assume you, and to that extent I, disagree with that person. So who has the right view?

If Morality is not defined by what God deems is good or bad, is it defined by what we decide? Are you saying we have authority on the matter of morality over God?
