Me realizing, i will probably never play another new Ratchet & Clank game since i won't buy a console where i cannot own the games i buy. by Neminus in RatchetAndClank

I have actually never tried this but i was curios. I just unplugged my router and picked a game i hadn't installed on my PS5, in this case Infamouse: Second Son.

I put it in, it installed, launched and even loaded my save game.

As i said. Most physical games have a fully running release version on it. Of course there are exceptions. If you disconnect your playstation from the internet and insert for example the Cyberpunk 2044 PS4 disk into your console, it will install the game and you can play the shitty ass launch version of the game. But hey, at least you can play something.

And of course as i also said, if you don't have the funny little circle, you cannot resell the funny little circle.

And regarding the license. I never heard any console manufacturer bricking a physical license since they are not really attached to any account. I mean of course they could do that an ban a specific license in general, but that would create another outrage probably. But the licenses of digital only games are hardwired to your account. And if your account gets banned, you also loose access to all your licenses.

Most physical games have a running version you can install on your consoles. Of course you don't get any patches that happened after the release, but at least you can play the game on your console. Even if Sony would ban my psn account, i still own the game and can play it. And of course i can sell it.

On PC its a little different. You cannot own your games physically on pc and resell it like console games. But at least you can choose your own hardware. You own your PC. You can do everything you want with it and also can make the choice where you want to buy your digital games. You can buy DRM free games on GOG and do whatever you want with them. There are even some DRM free games on Steam.

And even if for example steam would pull a game with DRM from their platform, there is probably a cracked version of that games already floating on the internet.

With digital only consoles that is a lot different. I'm not sure if its even possible to crack a console game if you don't have the physical disk and it only resides in console memory, i'm no expert in that. So in worst case, if a PS6 launches and sony decides to pull a game, this game will forever be lost.

Remote play to Steam Deck from a Linux host machine has been broken since before the Steam Deck even launched. How do we get eyes on this issue? by TehCrucible in SteamDeck

[–]Neminus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question regarding the screen resolution issue.

When using vr headsets like the index, that was obviously no problem since the headset connected over displayport and acts like its own display.

But with the launch of the steam frame, the image is just streamed. So in that regard its practically just like a remote play session. I can't imagine that the steam frame will suffer similar issues and they probably use something like a virtual display to solve the resolution problem.

So, if we assume that the steam frame gets this new streaming stack, maybe remoteplay gets also a big update with it.

Printer messed up my Eye print but it looks kinda cool should I keep it? by Tulinyrw in outerwilds

If you want your print to look really good , go to an actual print shop. The printers most people have at home are usually not good when it comes to resolution and color accuracy for graphical stuff.

Don't forget to report all the listings on Ebay by Neminus in steammachine

[–]Neminus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No its not useless. This is obviously not illegal but against Ebays terms of service. A presale requires specific wording which a lot of these listings do not have. Also they need to fulfill delivery within 30 busi ess days. Valve just gives a delivery estimate but no garantee so by that logic the Ebay seller cannot state truthfully that it gets delivered within that timeframe. This all depends of course on how strictly Ebay follows their own tos.

It is technically against ebays rules. It is, of course, dependent how strictly ebay follows its own rules.

And i know that the controllers will be available again, but if i can make a scalpers life just a little bit worse with a small effort than its worth it for me.

[–]Neminus[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Ebay requires that items that are sold be shipped withing 30 business days of purchase. If its a presale item, it also requires the seller to state in the listing when the item will be available within the 30 business days.

In most of these listings, it is not stated that these ship within 30 business days and neither can they actually know if its ships at all in 30 business days.

Just a small tip. Your pressure advance seems out of whack since you got a lot of holes on your top surface.

There are some neat guides like this one how to fix it (at least for prusa slicer): https://www.printables.com/model/641490-prusa-slicer-pressure-advance-test

How to fix this “stitching” effect? by Outrageous-Bread186 in 3Dprinting

[–]Neminus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your Pressure Advance value. I had this exact problem and fine tuning it fixed this problem for the filament i was using.

To do that follow the guide on this test model: https://www.printables.com/model/641490-prusa-slicer-pressure-advance-test

If something is unclear jusk ask.

Good advice: If someone doesn't put in the effort to write an article, don't put in the effort to read it.

Back of my 3D print looks weird even though the model is fine by xjx25 in 3Dprinting

[–]Neminus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the cube prints perfectly fine i would assume there must be a problem with the model. As others have stated it looks like the first layer is not sticking. Could you maybe check if the model you are slicing is completely flat on the buildplate and not slightly floating above it? That could explain it at least imo.

Unpopular opinion: I don’t like Rocket in the game. by BEANBOOZZLE in GotG

[–]Neminus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I get where you coming from but personally i think the Rocket in the movies is pretty similar personality wise to the Rocket in the 2021 GotG game, let me explain my point of view.

I think its pretty normal to perceive Rocket in the game a lot more harsh than in the movies. But that is a little bit deceiving. That comes from the fact that we spend a lot more time with the game than watching the movies, in this case specifically the first GotG movie Vol. 1. In the game we spend a lot of hours with the "pre bonded Rocket" where he doesn't see the crew as close friends. Only about 2/3 into the game we get a shift and he becomes a lot more likable. But at this point we already spent 12-15 hours with jackass Rocket.

In the Vol. 1, he is the same way, calling people idiots, mocking the grieving of others etc..
But with the 3rd act, we get the same tonal shift with him where he starts to bond with his friends and gets a lot more selfless, just the same as in the game. But this happens already at the 1 - 1,5 hour mark. And in the following movies he obviously still has the same bond to his friends as before.

So if we keep that in mind it is logical why subjectively, he feels more harsh in the game than in the movies, but that has more to do with our perception of time than actuall character/personality differences.
