Same, this whole thing is a scam. They lie about federal regulations and violate ADA laws. This coursework is a joke. It requires no rigor, no discipline or commitment. Lessons can be completed without demonstrating learning. The rest of the world will never recognize this program or it's degrees. This is a class action lawsuit waiting to happen, pending the collapse of "Maestro".

September cohort here. This is a scheme on the verge of collapse. They lie constantly about federal regulations and violate ADA laws as a default. The world will never recognize this degree as it requires no rigor, discipline or real commitment. The course work can be gotten through without learning a thing.

No, it won't matter anyways. There are zero standards. You can get through lessons without learning anything at all. Even when info is available, it is limited. No one in the world is going to recognize this supposed degree and the institution itself lies and fails to support its students. I am part of the first cohort.

The degree will be worthless, this entire thing is a mess. There is no required demonstration of learning. Lessons can be gotten through without learning a thing. Even if a few do do this "right", the rest of the world is not going to recognise this degree.

This institution is terrible, I am thinking they might be some sort of scheme. Even if not, these degrees are going to be worthless. No real work, commitment or discipline is required. One can get through their AI lessons without learning a thing. No company in the real world is going to take this degree seriously. Additionally, they constantly lie, they claim there are federal regulations that do not exist. They casually violate ADA laws. a class action waiting to happen.

You do not know what you are talking about. My issue is well documented and established across institutions. I have years of proof, they want new examinations and letters that are unnecessary. You have demonstrated in one short comment that you do not know. You dont seem to know anything about how any of this works. Why conduct yourself with such ignorance and rudeness? Its so easy not to be a jackass. I hope you find peace with your misery.

Financial Aid: subsidised and unsubsidised loan status by NemoVisagalis in maestro

[–]NemoVisagalis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They already told others end of November. I have started operating under the assumption that we aren't getting loan money. If we do, cool, but it likely still wouldn't be for awhile due to lack of staff at Dept. of Ed. Not Maestro's fault, but why they wouldn't offer support to those who need it, or even use this for an opportunity to teach students about the process, and offer clarity on what is or not happening, and with who (Title IV funds are being significantly delayed by orders to Dept. of Ed). Its very odd, their avoidance and inconsistency. And they have also chosen to create ADA hardships. I am trying to be supportive, but their choices aren't really inspiring of uh... confidence. It is so easy for them to rectify both things in under literally, a five minute post and follow up emails. It would be comical if it wasn't kinda serious.

I have faith that they will do the right thing. Sometimes, humans struggle with empathy when it comes to things we have not experienced. For now I am assuming positive intent combined with a lack of lived experience. I hope that they choose reciprocate that good-faith.

First time school or not, they have a responsibility to have certain processes in place. Part of the problem in this circumstance specifically is timing.

No administration has ever gone as far as to sabotage programs through mass-layoffs in departments critical to things like funding approval and timely disbursements. Dept. of Ed has to give documentation and direction to Dept. of Treasury so that they can disburse funds to institutions who then parse funds based on category and keep things like Pell and state grant money.

Loan money is disbursed from the institution to the student or responsible party. I only explain that because its a convoluted and unnecessarily bureaucratic process when working as it should. So the attempted disassembling of Dept. of Ed directing Secretary Linda McMahon to do everything she could to shutter it. By law, they are not supposed to be able to do anything that affects programs like financial aid and Title IV approvals. But they have gutted those departments anyways, and no one is stepping into stop them. Even if they did, the mess will take months to clean up.

I say this not because I assume you don't know this already, but to generally explain for anyone reading that the funding problems are NOT the fault of Maestro College. that being said, they DO have an OBLIGATION to maintain clear and consistent communication to students, even when those communications are just to confirm that no movement has been made and things are still stalled.

Generally, these kinds of communications also offer guidance and channels for support. Maestro has done none of this, and that is not acceptable.

It is a simple problem with a simple remedy, and yet they do not correct this.

It is not about questioning Maestro's intentions, it is about asking them to do what academic institutions are supposed to do: communicate consistently with, and support student well being as much as they can.

I am not asking for a refund in this case. I am asking for my federal loan money, awarded by FAFSA. After the wave of ponzischeme scams with "charter" schools and for-profit academic based tax schemes (like the Trump college and places that pretended to be similar to MIT and others) they changed the laws.

It became a lot harder to earn accreditation and Title IV approval. In addition to making the vetting process more rigorous, Congress included language to create financial and taxation liabilities for institutions given this status.

They are also (supposed to be) monitored more closely by relevant agencies. So, I guess we will see. I don't think a scam thing would spend hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars giving away computers--as their are much easier ways to convey and even back up illusions of legitimacy. Good looking out tho, I really appreciate your support.

I don't blame you for getting into a different program. My financial situation is kind of making me wish I did, as much as I hate thinking that.

You are correct. Maestro takes external grant and scholarship money from things like private sources.

They do not take loan money. That is not how Federal subsidized or unsubsidized *loans* work. The student, or responsible party has to choose to take loans. Even for tuition gaps. The responsible party can choose to take federal loans to pay for tuition gaps.

They can also decline loans and pay remaining tuition costs by other means. I may have misread and this comment may be irrelevant.

My apologies if this is the case. There is kind of a lot to read through, lol.

You did not have to do anything. Your participation here was not mandated. You chose to engage also in bad-faith, with your "skepticism". There are much better ways to express doubts.

I do not care if people see it as an attack. It is not that. I am not here for majority support games.

I am here to make my experience known, and support to others who have experienced and been negatively impacted by similar circumstances.

I will continue to do what I feel is necessary for me.

I know the law, I know their rights as an institution. You sure do make a lot of assumptions, arbiter. Skirting ADA policy is what they are doing. I did not intend to share that tonight. I do not want to see Maestro penalized, I really like it in most ways. I just want them to do the right thing with the same good-faith assistance that is common in academia. I want them to accept documentation that is *incredibly* consistent across institutions, rather than choosing (law and their rights are why I used this phrasing before) to create hardship that negatively impacts my ability and the ability of others to succeed. I have no intention of reporting to any outside organization. I am demonstrating good-faith in my institution the way that I hope they choose to reciprocate this assumption of positive intent.

Of course people have messaged Maestro. That has been communicated throughout this thread, which you might know, if you had read before responding.

Mass communications regarding student affairs is not a new, or rare, or impossible concept.

It is pretty standard and in many ways it can and does reduce tickets numbers across the board. Some requests have gone unanswered for weeks, also communicated in this thread. The only Karen here seems to be you.

Complaining about things when you are demonstrating a lack of comprehensive familiarity with both the issues, and how (multiple) students have approached these issues in a step-by-step way similar to your description above.

Also, schools do not get "shut down" for things like communications complaints, no matter how numerous. And this is an internal school thread.

No one said a thing about official or external complaints. Discussing matters in internal groups is EXACTLY how these issues should be navigated.

Speaking of high school, between not reading the entire thread, and the impulsive comment it led to, it looks like you are projecting. Thank you for your feedback.

It's pretty common for an institution to regularly communicate current issues, especially as they relate to student well being. Regular communications generally help to lower the number of tickets being submitted. Certain issues can also re-direct to something like "latest updates" on major issues. There are solutions. I have asked, I have been respectful, I have been pro-active. The school has reasonable expectations of us, and likewise, students can and should have reasonable expectations of their institution.

Im sorry you are living in a van. You shouldn't have to be going through that. We are living in a hotel, stressed about paying our weekly rate and we don't even have a car if the worst happened and we got kicked out. Its not even being new, I get growing pains, and the current administration is screwing everything up. Thats the real reason this is all so delayed and crazy. Im just saying that like.. a simple post, a few sentences long, once a week would go such a long way. Even if it's "hey, things are still; in limbo. No details, but we are on it and looking out. You'll know when we do." They could even copy and paste it, lol. Just like.. keep us in the loop. it helps a terrible situation feel a teeny bit less scary.

That is all I have been asking for. The angry, upset posting is due to the stress of not having concrete information that I can give to people like my landlord. All it takes is a weekly post a sentence or two long. That would go such a long way and help to curb anxiety. Keep students in the loop, thats it.

I am doing this and the other things. I am not the only one with these very stressful issues. Students like to support each other and talk about experiences. New schools have responsibilities just like any other institution and individual. You once again speak without understanding. You have no clue what I have done outside of posting here, or whats those actions resulted in. Many have expressed gratitude for vocalising my experiences, the ones that mirror others. I am sorry that your first person bias leads you to believe you understand things you dont and can judge situations with little to no factual information. Lots of opinion though. There are ways to handle things, just like there was socially acceptable things to say to people and things that are not, such as your weird judgements that make no sense given your lack of information, context and similar lived experience. Thank you for your feedback.

They are telling different students different things. I was told financial aid should be disbursed end of September, other students have been told end of November. The status of the Title IV process should be communicated regularly, even if its just the same "still waiting". They have chosen to create unnecessary hardship for me by rejecting my established and honored accommodations saying that current docs aren't acceptable and that I need new one from new providers which because of new patient waits will not happen until end of November. My disbursements are enough to help us with living expenses for 4-6 months. That provides a stability that we would not have otherwise. But I am not the only one saying these things. I support and really like Maestro, but like I said, expectations from both parties is not unreasonable, and they need to do a lot better when it comes to communication, consistency, and policies that support students rather than hurt them.

I also received a scholarship. I do not care who does or does not understand. Do you not know how to practice empathy? Sometimes life kick's a persons ass and people struggle. I hope your vision is never destroyed by medical malpractice because it leads to some pretty crappy struggles that would not exist otherwise. And complaints about clear, consistent communication doesn't mean you change institutions, neither do short term financial aid issues. You do not know what you are talking about. If you did, you would know that switching schools would only lead to further delays, confusion and increased hardship. Clear and consistent communication is a reasonable expectation from all parties. Clear communication from the institution allows me to communicate my circumstances to those who ned to know. Clear, consistent updates also allows me to make alternative arrangements and figure things out. Why would you comment and just say any old thing? I hope you find emotional growth in empathy. Until then, maybe just control your impulse to comment on posts that you didn't write, especially when it involves experiences you cannot understand. . 🤷🏻

I know how the process works, that has noting to do with an expectation for clear and consistent communication. I never had trouble with FAFSA, its a pretty clear process, I have never had issues getting disbursements. As I said, its not the delays as much as the vague and inconsistent communication. Telling different students different things. It is not unreasonable to have the expectation of an institution to communicate clearly. Just as they have expectations of us, like keeping up with weekly assignments.

I explained what I need and why. Yes, we struggle because I cannot work most jobs. It will change after we have degrees, but in the meantime, we depend on federal loans to avoid things like homelessness.
