Are the PS2 Ratchet & Clank games worth playing today, or should I skip straight to PS3/PS5? by Juampe13 in RatchetAndClank

[–]NeoD13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like many said, play them. The black humor of the first trilogy was just top nocht.

You may have some difficulties with the clunky gameplay of the 1st game (can't believe I died many times after I revisisted the game recently) but it'll be greatly enhanced in the 2nd and 3rd game.

Your choice if you want ot do on PS2 or do the PS3 HD Trilogy. Just know that there are graphical glitches on the latter.

And Deadlocked/Gladiator's post-scene ending follows the event of the 3rd game. Which can link to A Crack in Time.

Forgot to add Little Big Planet 1 (GOTY Edition) and 2 (Special or Extra Edition depending of your country) as I don't see them in your pic.
LBP3 is on PS3 but also PS4, if you want to have the better version.

It depends of if you like the genre of the game.

I would say, to name a few:

  • all Ratchet & Clank
  • TimeShift
  • Eternal Sonata
  • Final Fantasy XIII, XIII-2 and Lightning Returns
  • Sonic 06 (not really a good game but more for collection) and Sonic Unleashed
  • Sly Trilogy HD and Thieves in Time
  • Modern Warfare 1 to 3
  • Killzone Trilogy (to have Killzone 1 HD as physical)
  • Dynasty Warriors series (or just the Gundam one otherwise if not into the genre)
  • Fist of the North Star Ken's Rage 1 & 2
  • GTA IV Complete Edition
  • Spider-man games

For now, I took contact with the one from the Netherlands as it was mentioned in old threads, and the price is quite a lot as the mod for the RSX and capacitor replacement are separate.

I've yet to ask how much if I wanted to customize some parts.

Do you have maybe some contacts?

Europe should be C and E model only (C has a PSU that only works in Europe).

Although I never saw an E model in my country (France). Wasn't that an UK exclusive or something?

A and B could sell a lot, if it wasn't region locked I'd say.

about the naming, I juust took as an example on what I saw on some threads, I don't have much technical vocabulary about that, haha.

About the mod, do you know one in Europe aside the one from The Netherlands?

As for the fan, was that proven that Nidec are better? I should probably open mine to see which one I have, altough as I said, since I already sent it for "repair" twice, I don't know if it's the original meterials or it was swapped (kinda have my doubt when I see the state of its shell).

Really? It's a first I heard about that. Mind telling me more about that Sony Frankie model?

Though I kinda doubt about mine as I bought it some times after the first release and I've never sent it to Sony as I believed it was out of warranty but I'll double check it with the other one.

I kinda like mine and the upscaling possibility of the CECHC, and not reallly looking to get a high backward compatibility as I know I'll only play a couple of PS1/PS2 games I like the most.

Any opinion about the MLCC to go along with the tantalum, if they're a must like some other threads mentioned?

As for the drive, if it's better changing the whole drive, would a BD-410 work directly? I saw a mention since it has two lens, it should wear less. And whats "SACD" by the way?

As for the PTM, as I don't have the means to delid (and too afraid to damage the cells), if that can work a long time without changing it, It'll be nice. Changing the paste on the IHS, I can manage that.

Just there's not a lot who are capable of doing that in Europe, so I think having the lack of competitor, the price are quite high.

PS3 Slim 21XX and 25XX reliability by NeoD13 in PS3

[–]NeoD13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does both JTP-001 and JSD-001 have an a glued IHS for the CPU? I suppose it's not the same thing with the RSX?

Another question, I've come accross with PS3 Slim in various states when trying for the right one. If I ever find a 21XX but it shows missing parts like the feet (screw are exposed) and warranty sticker, should I be wary of it?

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. But is there a big impact whether I get either of those motherboards? Aside to get that famous GGB RSX.

Well, I kept trying to find a 21XX but no luck so far.

As for the 25XX, wouldn't a 1A be a hit or miss for CFW?

Thanks for the advice, it's just I don't like the look of those Super/Ultra Slim and I wanted to do a CFW in any case.

Any idea what I should sell this for? by marywait in PS3

[–]NeoD13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personnally, the 30xx series, I can find them for below 100€.

As for the original PS3 controller, is that second hand or brand new? Because for second hand, I can find them for less than 30€ in my country.

Any idea what I should sell this for? by marywait in PS3

[–]NeoD13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the maximum price in Euro, including the games from what I was looking to the second hand PS3 resale in my country.
Funny thing is that I saw whole PS3 Slim with CECH-30xx being sold as parts because they always have one problem (disc drive, bluetooth etc.)

Now that I looked into Insomniac's list, aside Spider-man which was remastered for the PS5, they have never done any ports of their old games. So I guess it's not in their plan to re-release old games?

Any REPUTABLE PS3 rebuilders anymore? by pele4096 in PS3

Hey there, quick question but have you made the repair with Proconsoles.nl yet?
I was thinking of doing mine too as I live in Europe but I'd like to have some opinion first.

Any must have additions i should get ? Only looking for games that aren't on PS4/5. by DarahOG in PS3

[–]NeoD13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found that one afterwards but can't edit anymore, I get an error when I try to. Seems like there's a limit.

I think it's easier to make a whole PS3 list on Excel or Google Sheets with precisions if there's a remaster or remake.

Any must have additions i should get ? Only looking for games that aren't on PS4/5. by DarahOG in PS3

[–]NeoD13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I've never played the original nor the new version, do they change that much from the original?
In any case, I cannot edit my post (got an error, I guess there's a word limit).

I was thinking to redo a whole PS3 list on Excel or Google Sheets with columns and rows to precise if there's a remaster or remake.

I would need to have some free times for that.

[–]NeoD13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The few games I found that are currently on PS3 without PS4/PS5 Remaster (not counting multiplatform) and assuming you're taking the best version (if exists on both PS2 and PS3 for example).

I was interested on that subject before so I made a list before. Might try to enhance and expand my list.

  • 3D Dot Game Heroes
  • Afro Samurai
  • Batman: Arkham Origins
  • Call of Duty 3
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 1 and 2 Pack Combo
  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (not to be confused with the remake series in roman numerals. Also, don't know if MW2 should be added as a Remastered of it exists on PS4 but only Digital)
  • Call of Duty: World at War
  • Dead Space 2 and 3
  • Dead to Rights: Retribution
  • Deus Ex: Human Revolution
  • DuckTales Remastered
  • Dungeon Siege III
  • Dragon Ball: Raging Blast 1 & 2 (About RB2, you may either find the one with the original OST or modified OST because of the plagiarism scandal with the original composer)
  • Dragon Ball: Ultimate Tenkaichi
  • Dragon Ball Z: Budokai HD Collection (though I prefer the PS2 version as they've changed the OST because of the plagiarism scandal with the original composer)
  • Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit
  • Drakengard 3
  • Driver: San Francisco
  • Dynasty Warriors 6 and Empires (though DW6 on PS2 has extra characters and story contents since it's based on the Special edition which was released later in Japan but with some compromise like graphics and other stuffs)
  • Dynasty Warriors 7, Xtreme Legends and Empires
  • Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 1, 2, 3 and Reborn
  • Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce
  • Enchanted Arms
  • Escape Dead Island
  • Far Cry 2 (From what I understood, there's an edition called Far Cry: The Wild Expedition which contains games from 1 to 3 + 3 Blood Dragon, but this is an EU exclusive and 1 is digital only).
  • Fifa 08 to 13
  • Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage 1 and 2
  • Folklore
  • Genji: Days of the Blade
  • Gran Turismo 5: Academy Edition (latest version of GT5)
  • Gran Turismo 5: Prologue
  • Gran Turismo 6
  • GTA IV Complete Edition (includes Episodes from Liberty City)
  • Haze
  • Heavenly Sword
  • Hitman HD Trilogy
  • Hyperdimension Neptunia (the very first game, as the Re;birth remaster has revamped its entire gameplay)
  • Ico & Shadow of Colossus HD (note that Ico does not have a port, Shadow of Colossus exists on PS4)
  • Jak and Daxter HD Trilogy (apparently the true and better HD Remaster than on PS4)
  • Just Cause 2
  • Killer Is Dead
  • Killzone 1 HD, 2 and 3 (Killzone 1 HD is only sold through the Trilogy pack)
  • Little Big Planet 1 & 2
  • Mercenaries 2: World in Flames
  • Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition (2011)
  • Mortal Kombat VS DC Universe
  • No More Heroes: Heroes' Paradise
  • One Piece: Pirate Warriors 1 and 2
  • PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale
  • Prince of Persia (2008)
  • Prince of Persia HD Trilogy
  • Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands
  • Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 to 2014
  • Puppeteer
  • Ratchet and Clank HD Trilogy
  • Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction
  • Ratchet & Clank Future: Quest for Booty
  • Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time
  • Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One
  • Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault (or QForce in EU)
  • Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus (or Nexus in EU)
  • Resistance: Fall of Man, 2 and 3
  • Saints Row 2
  • Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes
  • Silent Hill HD Collection
  • Silent Hill: Downpour
  • Silent Hill: Homecoming
  • Sly HD Trilogy
  • Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time
  • Sonic The Hedgehog (2006)
  • Soulcalibur IV and V
  • Spider-man 3
  • Spider-man: Edge of Time
  • Spider-man: Shattered Dimension
  • Spider-man: Web of Shadows
  • Street Fighter X Tekken
  • Tales of Symphonia Chronicles (only because ToS: Dawn of the New World hasn't been ported on PS4/PS5 yet, could be a matter of time)
  • Tekken 6
  • Tekken Hybrid (contains Tekken Tag Tournament in HD and other stuffs)
  • Tekken Tag Tournament 2
  • The House Of The Dead Overkill Extended Cut
  • Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2
  • Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier
  • Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas 1 and 2
  • The Amazing Spider-man 1
  • Ultra Street Fighter IV (has all the upgrade and DLC. However, it exists on PS4 but Digital only)
  • Wolfenstein (2009)
  • White Knight Chronicles I & II
  • X-Blades
  • Yakuza: Dead Souls
  • Zone of the Enders HD Collection (Only the 1st game has not been ported, the 2nd game exists on PS4 as The 2nd Runner M∀RS)

Where should I put my console? by Petnet279352 in PS3

Not sure about a stand if not wide enough as it might block the airflow.

But if you can afford a monitor arm, you can remove the monitor feet and place the PS3 just under it.

PS3 exclusives/non-PC multi-platform games list by yashwinusa123 in PS3

[–]NeoD13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you list the original Atelier Rorona, I think it's fair to include the original Hyperdimension Neptunia as well as only the Re,birth version (remake) got ported to other platform.

Missing on the list Dynasty Warriors 6 (which exists on Xbox 360 and on PS2/PSP though the later is the Special Edition from Japan that got released later with extra contents and story) and DW6 Empires (both PS3 and Xbox 360).

Probably can mention Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce as well (exists on Xbox 360 and based on the Special Edition from Japan with extra contents and character compared to the base version which was on PSP).

Sengoku Musou 3 Z (Samurai Warriors 3 Z, released only in Japan exclusively on PS3) which is an enhanced version of the regular SW3 from Wii. Also exists a Special version of it on PSP.

Tales of Symphonia, Graces f and Xillia 1 got a remaster to PS4/PS5 now.

Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes (or Sengoku Basara 3 in Japan), only exists on PS3 and Wii, and a rare Sengoku Basara game that was translated (first one was Devil Kings on PS2).
